Scroll past if you don't want spoilers. For those who don't know what the animation is about, this is a flashback recap of Journey to the West in reverse. Here's a quick yap session on all the scenes. Also if you want to see the story of journey to west in 10 minute parts you can watch overly sarcastic productions sin they have good summaries of the events. Firstly I want to clarify before getting into the breakdown that the pilgrims are the main characters of Journey to the west and consist of Sanzang(the monk who Wukong protects from demons since if demons eat humans they get stronger), Bajie( the pig),Sha Wujing( red beard blue demon guy) and of course Wukong. Let's Begin. 1:31:30 [Chapter 100]: After bringing the sutra back to the Land of the East (China), Sun Wukong and the pilgrims completed the Journey to the West and thus were granted Buddhahood by Tathagata Buddha. Wukong became the Victorious Fighting Buddha. 1:31:51 [Chapter 99]: The pilgrims successfully received all the sutras(religious scriptures) from Tathagata Buddha from the Spirit Mountain (India) and brought them back to The Land of the East. However, during the trip, they were thrown off in the middle of the Heaven-Crossing River as their final trial, since they failed to make the promise with the Great White Turtle (another event back then in chapter 49) to ask the Buddha to turn him human. When the pilgrims fell into the river, all the sutras were wet and some were torn, thus making them imperfect (as natural as heaven and earth). 1:32:10 [Chapter 87]: The pilgrims saved the Phoenix-Immortal District from a heavy drought by completing 3 trials created by the Jade Emperor of the Celestial Heaven. 1:32:19 [Chapter 78-79]: The pilgrims crossed the Kingdom of Bhiksu, where children were captured to create an elixir for a sickened king, as advised by the White Deer Spirit who disguised as an elderly Taoist as well as the king’s father-in-law. 1:32:27 [Chapter 74-77]: The pilgrims passed Lion-Camel Ridge, where they encountered 3 Demon kings(Also Wukong's brother's in arms that helped him in the war with heaven) the White Elephant King, the Azure Lion King, and the Golden-winged Great Roc King(the black bird). This was probably one of the hardest trials that Sun Wukong has ever faced, and the Tathagata Buddha had to directly help him. 1:32:35 [Chapter 67]: The pilgrims crossed Tuolue Village and saved them from a giant Python Demon. Wukong killed it by being eaten then ripping out from inside. 1:32:43 [Chapter 62-63]: The pilgrims crossed The Sacrifice Kingdom, where the Nine-Headed Beast resides. Wukong, and Bajie had to fight the beast, and they even invited Erlang to support them in killing it. 1:32:49 [Chapter 56-58]: Wukong confronted the Six-Eared Macaque, who disguised himself as the fake Wukong to steal his identity. All the celestial gods and Buddhas across three realms were unable to identify which one was the true Wukong, except the Tathagata Buddha. 1:32:56 [Chapter 50-52]: Wukong and the pilgrims faced the Single-Horned Rhinoceros King, who was able to use a magical diamond armlet to steal all the weapons that Wukong, Bajie, Sha Wujing, Nehza(boy who subdued and decapitated the bull king in chapter 5 ending animation), and the Celestial army had brought to fight him, even the very abstracted weapons like fire or water. Only the Supreme Exalted Laozi was able to subdue the Rhinoceros King, his personal riding green bull. It turned out the diamond armlet had been used to subdue Wukong when he fought with Erlang in chapter 6 (during the Havoc on Heaven). 1:33:00 [Chapter 44-46]: The pilgrims crossed the Cart-Slow Kingdom, where they encountered three Taoist magicians, Tiger Power Great Immortal, Elk Power Great Immortal, and Antelope Power Great Immortal, who were also the royal advisors. These Taoist magicians challenged the pilgrims into a contest of summoning rains, chopping heads, cutting open abdomens, or even bathing in boiling oil. The reason why the dog has a head is because during the chopping head challenge Wukong turned one of his hairs into a dog to steal the tigers head which killed him due to not getting it back on his body fast enough. This challenged also showed that Wukong can regenerate his own head as well as put back his head on his body if it's chopped off. 1:33:04 [Chapter 40-42]: The pilgrims approached Mount Roaring, where they encountered Crimson Boy(red boy), the son of Bull Demon King. Facing the Fire of Samadhi, Wukong would have died from it (since the fire can't normally be outed and even intensifies in rain) if Bajie hadn't saved him with his Heavenly spell of healing. 1:33:09 [Chapter 27-33]: The pilgrims faced Baigujing(White bone demon), who transformed into a young village girl, an old woman, and an elderly man to trick the pilgrims. Wukong successfully killed her after the third time, but Sanzang was tricked into believing that Wukong had murdered innocent people and thus banished him away(also shows why Wukong was being punished before this scene with his headband tightening and him pleading with the Sanzang. Later on, Sanzang was captured by Yellow-Robed Demon in the Precious-Image Kingdom, and Bajie had to invite Wukong back to save him again. Fun fact what Bajie was saying when he was on the throne was what Wukong originally said when Bajie begged him to come back after being banished. Also unlike the novel this game implies Wukong and Baigujing were in a relationship or just in love(boat ride scene before the final boss). 1:33:19 [Chapter 24-26] The pilgrims arrived at Five Village Abbey, Long Life Mountain, where The Great Immortal Zhenyuan (who is the patriarch of all Earth's Immortals in Taoist) presented Sanzang with some Ginseng Fruits, a baby-shaped fruit that granted immortality when consumed, far more precious than the Immortal Peach. Wukong stole some fruits for himself and other pilgrims, and later, he uprooted the Ginseng Fruit Tree. When his crime had been discovered he had to invite Guanyin Bodhisattva(woman who appeared at the end of chapter 1) to revive the tree. 1:33:27 [Chapter 22] Sanzang, Wukong, and Bajie reached the Flowing-Sand River, where they fought a sand demon, who turned out to be the final disciple, Sha Monk (Sha Wujing) (officially Sha Awakening of Pureness). 1:33:35 [Chapter 14] Sanzang had just begun his Journey to the West and arrived at Five Element Mountain, where he freed Wukong by lifting Tathagata Buddha's seal and recruited him as his first disciple. Later on, they subdued Zhu Bajie (officially Zhu Awakening of Ability or Zhu Eight Rules) in Chapter 19 as the second disciple. 1:33:56 [Chapter 7] Tathagata Buddha challenged Wukong to escape his palm, but Wukong failed. He was then imprisoned and sealed by the Buddha's palm (as the Five Element Mountain) for his crime against heaven for 500 years. 1:34:21 [Chapter 4 - 7] Sun Wukong the Great Sage challenged the Celestial Heaven and battled with Erlang, Nehza, the Four Heavenly Kings, and an army of 100.000 Celestial Soldiers in his second havoc toward the Heaven. He turned himself into a three-head, six-arm body to fight all the celestial generals at once. Notably, Wukong fought with Erlang for days, both in combat and magic. Both are equal, while Erlang proved himself to have the upper hand slightly. Erlang only subdued Wukong with the support of the Supreme Exalted Laozi and his magical diamond circle(basically laozi sniped him from heaven). 1:34:41 [Chapter 3] Sun Wukong got drunk and wreaked havoc in the Underworld, where he crossed his name and every monkey's name out of the Book of Living and Death, thus making his soul not be managed by anyone. 1:34:52 [Chapter 3] After receiving the golden armor and the Jingu Bang(power pole), Sun Wukong (literally translated as Awakening of Emptiness) gathered other demons and the 7 demon kings, including the Bull Demon King, to drink together and become the sworn brothers. But the scene is actually in chapter 5 cinematic, where Wukong proclaimed himself as the Great Sage who Equal to the Heaven and started his first havoc toward the Heaven. Final scene with the weapons on the floor kind of confuses so either that scene is before Wukong goes against heaven again in the beginning of the game because his brothers are fallen and he's alone or that's the destined one who's gonna wreak havoc in heaven this time. Also the very first scene where wukong and erlang are talking are the results of the opening fight of the game and it confirms wukong killed himself to get the band off. I watched you on stream and thought you'd want to know this dontai. Great video
Even evil Wukong had so much swag it was ridiculous 😂 Lil bro'd him first... and then just straight up took his drink after lol One of the coolest bosses I've ever seen.
@@roguenpc5574 unfortunately u do, near enough all monkeys are wukongs descendants he was one of the first monkeys after all. Wukongs mind is the stone and with out all other of his senses(relics) you can't enter his mind and only a random monkey who is destined to wild that power can only enter his mind.
You said that this ending where we submitted to the head band is "regular" for most people, well, that's the whole point. The "good" ending where we rejected head band, happened because we explored all hidden bosses and area's, it's a metaphor that journey itself is as important as a endgoal, if not more important.
TRUEEEEE, and that's true to the original story as well. The endgoal was to obtain the sutras yes, but it was all just a setup for the crew to experience every hardship imaginable and achieve enlightenment thanks to it. It was always the JOURNEY that mattered
That truth is a deal between Erlang Shen. ErlangShen keeps the 6th relic, which is Wu Kong’s true will/consciousness. The destined one is supposed to find ErlangShen and prove to him that he is worthy of the undertaking.
The real story is this: at the beginning of the story, Erlang Shen is actually a friend of Wukong (AKA Monkey King). They both have the experience of rebelling against the Heavenly Court, so they appreciate each other. Wukong wants to get rid of the tight hoop and seek freedom, but Sun Wukong finds that the tight hoop can only be lifted if he dies. Therefore, Erlang Shen and Wukong reach a gentleman's agreement. Erlang Shen is responsible for killing Wukong in a show for the Heavenly Court to see. Wukong knows that six magic objects will be split after his death. After several years, there will be a man of destiny who will overcome many difficulties, collect all six magic objects, revive the spirit of the Monkey King, inherit his will, and truly gain freedom. The first five of these six magic objects are placed by Erlang Shen on the monsters in the first five chapters, making them a test for the man of destiny. If the five monsters are successfully defeated, it can be proved that the man of destiny may be the chosen one. But who has the last magic item is deliberately hidden in the plot. After Wukong was killed, Erlang Shen secretly stole the last magic item when no one was paying attention, and killed all the people in heaven who witnessed him stealing it, just to make himself the last level to protect this magic item. After killing Wukong, he has been waiting for the appearance of the man of destiny in the mural. Okay, let's go back to the game plot. If you don't defeat Erlang Shen first and go directly to the body of the Great Sage, you will wear the golden hoop, which symbolizes that you still haven't gotten rid of the shackles of heaven, you haven't resurrected the real Wukong, and you are not the real man of destiny, so you will start the game again. If you defeat Erlang Shen first, then you will get the last magic item, truly resurrect Wukong and have all his will, become the real man of destiny, and soar into the sky to once again rebel against the gods of heaven with freedom (PS. The first time he soared into the sky to rebel against the gods, Wukong was still a monkey with divine power, which happened before Journey to the West). The real plot ends. This plot will involve a lot of background knowledge, including the content of the original Journey to the West. You need to understand it in the game by looking at the Divine Shadow Map. I hope it will be helpful to everyone.
Not accurate, the brothers erlang shen placed to test you are not the monster who holds the relic, but 5 other characters in each chapter that guilds/hints you about the secret locations of each chapter, such as Whiteclad Noble in chapter 1 (and each of them has the same name pattern as color+title).
They used the same theme music from the original journey to the west tv show. Hearing that theme song during the final boss transformation was too epic and nostalgic haha
For those who were confused about what Wukong was doing at 1:34:44, after entering the underworld, he threatened the Ten Kings of Hell to obtain the scroll of life and death, then erased the names of all the monkeys. This made them all immune to the constraints of life and death, granting them immortality
This is ancient Chinese mythology but also based on Chinese Zen/Tao/Philosophy. To appreciate the deeper meanings hidden behind all those details in the game, one could check out the Chinese novel “A journey to the west” or the Chinese Zen Book “How to be Happy: the Wisdom to Attain Happiness and Success by Constructing an Invincible Mind”.
just gained me as a new subscriber! I’m a fan of wukong story bc i’m a Chinese novel addict 😹 ur gameplay and commentary (most def the meditation parts) was so fun to watch!!! 🫶🏻 I can’t wait to watch more of ur videos here on yt!!!
@@abduddaiyan4185 Don't be weird, people show appreciation like this more often than you think. Yall internet ppl need to chill when ppl just expressing a simple gratitude.
Yes, you get the bad ending If u don't explore enough. It's not about knowing the steps but exploring to find out the steps in the first place. The whole point is if u just be-line to the main bosses that progress the story instead of taking your time figuring stuff out. That's probably the reason for no mini map cuz most ppl would use it to do the side stuff after the story. The game rewards u for doing most of it beforehand.(The bad ending is the default ending, and the good one is the one Wukong was trying to achieve).
Bro no worries you literally did all that, i understand not wanting to do it again. Ppl who gonna get mad and disappointed they can cry bout it. U didnt disappoint not one bit bro, a rewatchable series for sure. Ty for the series and your hard work on the fights, much respect🙏🖤
Erlang has been guarding the last relic for Wukong. ErLang is the leader of MeiShan(plum blossom mountain) seven saints. Moreover, his subordinates-the Meishan Six Yaoguai-have been helping us throughout the entire storyline. They include the white-robed scholar who helps you obtain the fireproof mantle, the wild boar in yellow who helps you get the wind tamer , the bamboo hat wearer who leads you to the true Maitreya Buddha, the centipede man who guides you to find the Embroidered Needle, and the bull demon who leads you to the final passage to Meishan. Among the Meishan Six Yaoguai, the Arms-Extending Monkey, one of the six, also known as the four god money In chaos era, has not yet appeared, and its whereabouts are currently unknown😅
@@gafarhere Its literally stated in Erlang Shen's journal entry that he also took a piece. There were 5 relics given to Yaoguai kings but the 6th is missing because Erlang took it. He even went so far as to kill those who've seen him taking it. The fatboy buddha is aware of this and shows concern because it takes a toll carrying Wukong's mind. Even in the Erlang Shen's boss fight, he keeps commenting that he knows him more than we do and Wukong has been on his mind all this time because he literally carries Wukong's mind.
@@silenthero2795 dont care, it just about him taking the relic, not keeping, he keeps his memories of course he ll know about wukong. Give me your memories i would know about you, without having your brains or soul
@@gafarhere If you want to go against the literal journal entries that tells the story then be my guest. The old monkey and Bajie said that upon death, there are 6 parts but only 5 was given to yaoguias. The former thought that the mind is completely lost and yet, in Erlang's entry, he took something which is the 6th one, not just mere memories. Now, if you have journal entries saying Erlang only took his memories that he has to kill any witnesses and make a painted mural to hide himself from the Celestial court then again, be my guest.
That fan in the original novel blew Wukong almost 50.000 zhang away (1 zhang = 3.3 meter) before Wukong held caught in Boddhisattva Lingji mountain home 😂
Tai, the chapter 6 true ending animation at 1:31:06 needs to be watched with the theme song. It's a montage of Wukong's journey like an anime intro. But it played without music, which just isn't the same. The SONG IS FIRE!!!!!
I’ve spent the last week watching every single one of these episodes. You are an absolute legend and how you keep the people entertained, the energy, the voice changes when you go small or when you meditate your the best UA-camr I’ve ever watched in my last 20 years I can say you are hands down the best it has been a great pleasure watching you play. Buying one of your supporters the game your an absolute legend thank you. Not glazing just showing love!!! Thank you man for making my week!!!
My theory is that old monkey is true Buddha Wukong, who left his body after reaching enlightement, and after seeing his broken shell going wild he sends Destined One to become a new Monkey King. Even Old Monkeys clothes are flowing, which symbolizes attaining buddhahood
that fits well, especially with how angrily he says "Sun Wukong is long gone!" he is truly trying to push that wukong is fully gone reminds me a bit of how Bajie was angrily rejecting the spiders, pushing his family away to protect them the old monkey is pushing his identity as wukong away, so a new one may take said name and continue his journey of freedom
the only thing that doesnt make sense is that he put the headband on the new monkey king, so it makes me suspect he was actually an agent of the court, trying to put wukong back on his leash
The game itself partially supports this theory in The Old Monkey's portrait in the Journal section. To quote it: "Countless souls pursue the immortal quest, Seeking the Dao, but truth is not addressed. The ferry itself will never be ashore, Ask not when fruits will ripen, in the void they fade evermore." "Some say he is Bodhisattva Guanyin. Some say he is Patriarch Bodhi. Some say he is Sun Wukong himself. Others say he is just an old monkey in the mountains. With rhe same posture, he always starts with the same line. Sometimes, the mountaintop is empty and silent. Sometimes, the summit is bustling with moneky cries. Whenever a Destined One sets out on their journey, he gifts them with a handmade willow staff. As he breaks off the willow branch to send them off, he feels a twinge of reluctance in his heart. The Immortals of the Celestial Court say he is gambling. The Buddha on Mount Lingshan says that gambling inebitably leads to loss. He says he neither gambles, nor loses. He is just waiting for the stories the Destined Ones will tell him upon their return. And he has never heard two identical stories. ..."
@@MrNobodyMNY Like it's said in the journal, i think he is gambling. he has no hand in "our" journey as the destined one, only an observer. it's up to us to reach which ending and in the good ending he didn't force the crown upon us since we already knew the truth from Er Lang. i also think the "Victorious Fighting Budha" (the old monkey) set us in the journey as The Destined One to to see whether the existence called "Wukong" could attained true freedom. Not as a Budha/God but, as a monkey who enjoy the simple joys of life.
1st ending is a fail ending which you dont get rid of the headband, the headband is a weapon for high aboves and buddhas to control Wukong. The Whole "destined one" thing was planned before the game intro time line by a lot of ppl including the kid buddha, erlang etc, they all planned to help Wukong to get rid his body which had the headband tighted. The "destined one" is actually Wukong himself but another life by reincarnation. This journey so called re-walk through journey to the west is to help destined one to be wukong himslef. If you dont know the lore, high aboves so called high aboves is because they have the sources of immotality, and there are 2 ways to be immotality, one is the Pan peaches, another one is the dark side one, which they either breed ppl or yaoguai to portion their souls. So once Wukong made buddha, he saw the truth of immotality, the truth of ppl eating ppl, so he didnt want to be there anymore, but the court only gives you 2 choice if you have some real abilities, serve them or die, this rule is for everyone in the world. So if the story said Yaoguais and gods are all the same, but which side you serve. The sixth relic which is Mind is actually hidden in Erlangs third eye, and the Maitreya Buddha( kid buddha) hide Erlang in the wall paint in chapter 3 to stay away from the court, Erlang will tell you the true story.
One correction, there are many sources of immortality. Wukong even erased his name from the book of the dead, being unable to die, and in the celestial realm the gods even drank Wine of Immortality, which he drank. He has more than 6 sources for immortality iirc.
I managed to beat Stone Monkey and Wukong first try, and I'm convinced that was my once a life time miracle run cause they've both rocked my shit every other time I've fought them.
I also did it first try, but I'm fully convinced its because Ring of Fire is just a god-tier spell. I didn't need to use my gourd nearly as much as I would have otherwise.
It's been a journey. And i learned a lot about the story from UA-cam comments too. I know this Wukong tale from TV series and remember some of the stories from it. I think this game is really cool to tell the traditional stories to the youth and moreover to the whole world.
Dontai, thank you for persevering and seeing this amazing game through, including the extra ending. It’s been an incredible journey. ❤ Hope you had fun!
Here's my understanding about the ending: If you’ve read Harry Potter, it would be much easier. The 5 relics are like 5 horcruxes, each contains a part of Wukong’s soul, which shattered as he died. However in Chinese-Buddhism, one’s soul should have 6 pieces, the sixth and biggest part of Wukong’s soul fell into the circle of life, and was reborn as the Destined One. The Destined One is the last Horcrux of Wukong. (Many monkeys have tried, but only one really has Wukong's soul, thats why people keep saying "this time should be the right guy") When the Destined One collects and absorbs all 5 relics, his soul will be 100% Wukong’s soul, he will literally become Wukong on earth. Bad ending: You did not finish all side quests, you did not learn enough about him, you, and the world. So you failed to awake the Wukong within you. You die, and the circle of life will bring the next Destined One to success Wukong’s will. Good ending: You finished all side quests, successfully merged Wukong’s soul and synchronized. He is awake. The ending animate, the Journey to the West runs backward, meaning all the memories of Wukong are coming back to your head. You were Wukong in your last life, he intentionally died so he can get rid of the binding circlet that stuck on his head. Now, you are him, you finally remember who you were, and your purpose. Now, what will you do?
1:26:46 yes. By putting on the headband, it means Wu Kong has yet again subdued to the celestial court. Pathetic… it’s a tragedy… I d try to void that fate
The animation after the 2nd ending is a summary of the 81 tribulations that the 4 travelers had overcome to seek Buddhist scriptures in Journey to the West. As a Chinese person, I'm glad to see you guys enjoying this game. And I hope you know that this game is inspired by Journey to the West, a 16th century Chinese novel, not Dragon Ball Z. ❤❤❤
Thank you for the great walkthrough! For some reason, the true ending cut scene you watched didnt have the background music. I suggest people to rewatch it with the version with music it feels a lot better.
Here let me explain In the Secret Boss Fight, after defeating Erlang, he unseals Sun Wukong's memories using his third eye (It's basically a built-in camera lol). Following a brief time skip, Wukong battles a manifestation of his former self. Upon victory, the Golden Band, a symbol of the heavens' control over him, is dropped. If the fight against Erlang is skipped, Wukong would unknowingly accept the headband since he never had his memories, trapping him within the stone and shackling him in servitude to the heavens-a fate that contradicts his original desire which is true freedom. However, if you achieve the secret ending (which is this video), before Wukong dons the Golden Band, his memories flash before his eyes as he recalls everything, from the present battle with Erlang with the heavens back to the beginning of his Journey to the West. This revelation implies that Wukong would reject the Golden Band, finally achieving the freedom he sought from the start.
The true ending is when you the protagonist Wukong memories itself become Wukong once again, and the regular ending is just you being imprisoned again and I find it funny because lang is a rival to Wukong they were always equals and the miss so I kinda find it funny how people say Wukong beats Kratos so do lang beat Kratos 😂😂
1:35:17 Overly sarcastic productions does really good recaps of Wukongs journey. Its not finished but the beginning is. Its really good and gives a lot of context
interesting fact, the attributes of each boss...it relates to the gear you obtain from each the Cloudtreading Deer gives you Cloud-stepping Boots, and it literally steps through the air
This man Dontai is talking about "Don't blame me for how I beat Erlang" meanwhile I'm over here mad I didn't know you could hold down the thrust whirl attack for a combo, I'm mad I had to fight him legit lol, could've beat him a lot sooner!
That the best game I've ever played in my entire life nothing can top that for a long time for me elden ring was as good but the story was mid but black myth had everything I want as a gamer and as a reader well fking done game science
Seeing this Live was like a movie Highs and lows felt so bad for Tai but so passionate for the when this was his most memorable game to date he put his all in it
Dontai a lot the the movie adaptations for journey to the west does exactly follow the story but if u want to watch a very good summary of journey to the west, I recommend you watch overly sarcastic productions. They summarize a majority of the story in less than 15 minutes per episode they have. Worth a watch on stream if you want to know a little more about the lore
Dontain and other players:use pills, spam attacks and die many times for defeat wukong broken shell of wukong:he steals your cure (which doesn't work on him because he's a broken shell), play with you the whole fight, teach you things even though it's the last fight of the game and most importantly he's not even at his peak.
Great Sage's empty shell was hard, but Erlang Shen was the hardest of all boss fights in Black Myth. If you fight him properly he can read your tendencies and counter your attacks, it's crazy! Some people say it's on par with Radhan's fight on Elden Ring.
For yall dont understand the second ending, it actually what the original wukong wanted it to happened from the beginning. He knew that he can’t take off the golden head ring by himself and he knew that only way is to destroy his own fresh. He planned everything with the Dog guy and play an act for the court, pretending that the dog guy could kill wk with the golden head ring. The second fight with the dog guy redeem the will and mind of original wk and after the fight the dog guy said no one could actually kill wk only by his own will. So this show that they actually play the act. After the final boss, second ending the new wk is not wearing the golden ring anymore and show his success. And the scene after that is actually how wk keep acting to the court becoz the court can see everything. They even being bad to other just to set everyone free( including the cow boss )after everything even kill like the cow boss wify. But the cow didn’t know the reason of the murder of his wify that’s why he lost his mind afterward. And cow boss is immortal also so even his head got chopped of he can still survive. After wk fight with the dog guy and he dropped on cow boss and wk told him after so much effort, they thought they will be free but it’s just nonsense. Additionally the monkey that we r playing is the reborn of wukong after lunhui (which mean have to undergo multiple of cycle of life by ranking eg. bug>dog>>>>)
The Monkey King in the novels steals peaches, steals elixirs, and likes to keep all sorts of gods' magic treasures private, and here he is merely taking a sip of your wine.
You're wasting your cloud step, if you wait a few seconds after using it your staff will glow brighter which means your next attack will be an unveiling strike. It's kind of like a backstab in other games, it just gives you a damage bonus to your attack and it staggers the enemy. But it's also the perfect time to heal and buff while in stealth, or you can charge a heavy attack. Some of the more difficult bosses like Erlang and Wukong will actually dodge your unveiling strike but if you catch them while they're attacking your clone then they can't dodge. Wukong also won't steal your gourd if you use it in stealth. If you attack immediately after using cloud step you won't get that unveiling strike, meaning less damage and no stagger.
I should probably mention you can only charge heavy attacks if you unlocked that skill, otherwise it's only light attacks. And I don't think it works with smash stance heavy attacks, you come out of stealth once you start the heavy attack animation and lose the unveiling strike buff before actually landing the hit. Thrust stance heavies are instantaneous though, they work like a charm with unveiling strike.
You know what would have been cool Dante? Imagine if they made it so Wukong in this final boss fight has a set amount of stages, depending on how good you are at the game, how many secret bosses defeated, things collected, armor & weapons gathered, Stances & other abilities learned. Imagine if for all those things, he had even more stages just to show that despite everything you've done you've still not truly become the best. I imagine it'd upset lots of people depending on how many stages it was, & what he used in each of them to show the player he's more experienced. But it'd be sooooo cool & a further display of his prowess.
Some thoughts and perhaps spoilers Wukong had to wear the headband for Wukong's master to be able to control him, therefore the Celestial Court (in a way) can keep Wukong under control. By the end of the journey, Wukong wanted freedom but the Celestial Court fear him. They never let Wukong took out his headband. (I might be wrong but in the story I have seen, Wukong's master can take off the headband but he never chose to. The master was always kind to others but not to Wukong. The master was pretty much like a puppet the Celestial Court used to keep Wukong under control) I heard this from somewhere, since Wukong wore the headband before the Journey to The West happened. Some guessed that the good ending suggested that Wukong had to go through the entire Journey To The West stages but in reverse to fully gain freedom. And at the end you see Wukong drinking with his buddies, they guessed that the place Wukong was drinking with his friend was the place where Wukong defeated and wreaked the Celestial Court or at least its members. I saw this too, they suggest that the reason why to achieve the good (hidden) ending, you had to explore more is to understand the backstory of each bosses. They werent there because they just happened to be there, all of them had reasons to be there. Like the baby like monk, he had his backstory and how it influenced the creation of other bosses. Like the name of the game, Black Myth Wukong, there is no absolute good nor absolute bad. The Celestial Court isnt as good as they seem, the demons arent fully evil. Even a monk can be a boss in the end, so doesnt mean that by everyone can be fully judged by their social stance nor their social role, or even their identity. You can be evil yet kind. By understanding that, you are worthy of inheriting Wukong's will.

You said that this ending where we submitted to the head band is "regular" for most people, well, that's the whole point.
The "good" ending where we rejected head band, happened because we explored all hidden bosses and area's, it's a metaphor that journey itself is as important as a endgoal, if not more important.
Thats fire
If only this game was out long enough for chat to spam that 😂
TRUEEEEE, and that's true to the original story as well.
I got that ending to cuz my uncle found the other secret bosses so I assumed it’s how u got it
Bro missed the secret secret ending where the game boots up Halo 3
Lmao
Yeah. It's great ❤
What is the secret secret ending where the game boots up Halo 3? Does it really exist?
😮😮😮
👍
Appreciate the lore drop. Kinda a crazy pfp tho ngl
Not accurate, the brothers erlang shen placed to test you are not the monster who holds the relic, but 5 other characters in each chapter that guilds/hints you about the secret locations of each chapter, such as Whiteclad Noble in chapter 1 (and each of them has the same name pattern as color+title).
This sums up. I'm liking it more

Yes, you get the bad ending If u don't explore enough. It's not about knowing the steps but exploring to find out the steps in the first place. The whole point is if u just be-line to the main bosses that progress the story instead of taking your time figuring stuff out. The game rewards u for doing most of it beforehand.(The bad ending is the default ending, and the good one is the one Wukong was trying to achieve).

Erlang was not guarding nothing but only his memories sealed in his third eye. Destined one IS relic himself-Mind
@@gafarhere Its literally stated in Erlang Shen's journal entry that he also took a piece. There were 5 relics given to Yaoguai kings but the 6th is missing because Erlang took it. My theory is that old monkey is true Buddha Wukong, who left his body after reaching enlightement, and after seeing his broken shell going wild he sends Destined One to become a new Monkey King. Even Old Monkeys clothes are flowing, which symbolizes attaining buddhahood
That's a good theory. also explained how he was able to take us in that memory lane and how much he knows about wukong and his journey.
that fits well, especially with how angrily he says "Sun Wukong is long gone!" he is truly trying to push that wukong is fully gone
reminds me a bit of how Bajie was angrily rejecting the spiders, pushing his family away to protect them
the old monkey is pushing his identity as wukong away, so a new one may take said name and continue his journey of freedom
the only thing that doesnt make sense is that he put the headband on the new monkey king, so it makes me suspect he was actually an agent of the court, trying to put wukong back on his leash
The game itself partially supports this theory in The Old Monkey's portrait in the Journal section. To quote it:
"Countless souls pursue the immortal quest,
Seeking the Dao, but truth is not addressed.
The ferry itself will never be ashore,
Ask not when fruits will ripen, in the void they fade evermore."
"Some say he is Bodhisattva Guanyin.
He has more than 6 sources for immortality iirc.
it isn't immortality that he reject, it is the responsibility he reject.

I managed to beat Stone Monkey and Wukong first try, and I'm convinced that was my once a life time miracle run cause they've both rocked my shit every other time I've fought them.
Damn that was a fluke ina half
I also did it first try, but I'm fully convinced its because Ring of Fire is just a god-tier spell. I didn't need to use my gourd nearly as much as I would have otherwise.
It's been a journey. And i learned a lot about the story from UA-cam comments too. I know this Wukong tale from TV series and remember some of the stories from it. I think this game is really cool to tell the traditional stories to the youth and moreover to the whole world.
Poor chair
(Many monkeys have tried, but only one really has Wukong's soul, thats why people keep saying "this time should be the right guy")
When the Destined One collects and absorbs all 5 relics, his soul will be 100% Wukong’s soul, he will literally become Wukong on earth.

Here let me explain
In the Secret Boss Fight, after defeating Erlang, he unseals Sun Wukong's memories using his third eye (It's basically a built-in camera lol).
Yes Erlang would beat Kratos as well. But a peak Wukong when he achieves Buddha is limitless, his power is beyond god level.
Yes a lot of the wukong verse beats kratos
1:35:17 Overly sarcastic productions does really good recaps of Wukongs journey. Its not finished but the beginning is. Its really good and gives a lot of context
Man how does this game just get better and better up until the final moments man. Dontais the best i loved his gameplay!!!❤
The Handsome Sun Wukong, The Great Sage Heaven's Equal, The Victorious Fighting Buddha, The SWAG King.
Dontai cheesing the erleng is the most funniest thing ever😂
Bro at 1:09:22 that was the coldest and most aura move I’ve ever seen😮💨😳
interesting fact, the attributes of each boss...it relates to the gear you obtain from each
the Cloudtreading Deer gives you Cloud-stepping Boots, and it literally steps through the air
This man Dontai is talking about "Don't blame me for how I beat Erlang" meanwhile I'm over here mad I didn't know you could hold down the thrust whirl attack for a combo, I'm mad I had to fight him legit lol, could've beat him a lot sooner!
Ok .. first time i watched a video of yours... and its really good cut. almost nothing you wanna skip on a 2 hour video is insane good.
That the best game I've ever played in my entire life nothing can top that for a long time for me elden ring was as good but the story was mid but black myth had everything I want as a gamer and as a reader well fking done game science
The way you bodied and blitzed Erlang was diabolical. My chin dropped
Nooo imma miss this icl the only UA-camr I watched Playing This Game It’s been a Good Road. 😢
1:04:29 That side step goes crazy, didn't even dodge it. Reminded me when ultra instinct just walked thru toppo's finger blast attack in dbs.
Gotta watch this after i take a shower, this ep finna be FYE
Seeing this Live was like a movie Highs and lows felt so bad for Tai but so passionate for the when this was his most memorable game to date he put his all in it
Wu kong was just that boss who would bully TF out of you lol
The final boss humiliated the player is so much real Wukong would do, the arrogant, confident and naughty all is the Wukong personality
It’s on UA-cam by the way
Dontain and other players:use pills, spam attacks and die many times for defeat wukong
broken shell of wukong:he steals your cure (which doesn't work on him because he's a broken shell), play with you the whole fight, teach you things even though it's the last fight of the game and most importantly he's not even at his peak.
2HR IS SUCH A BANGER
Man it’s always a good day when dontai posts man it’s good to be a UA-cam fam❤❤
Monke made Unc crashout 😭
This series was gas. Love your content bro!
Bro has never crashed out more than this
2:00:35 Beautiful series from day 1, gonna rewatch for sure. Ty for the vids🙏🖤
Really gonna miss this series. It was so much fun playing this game while watching the streams!
I've been watching every episode of this series it's almost like an drug
unc ahh crashing out😭😭😭
Bruh these be so fye I’m glad I was here for it all W streamer w gameplay w Wukong
The secret ending was Cold 🥶
A Chinese Odyssey! it has parts one and part two, both are cool movies about Wukong, in a comedy way.
1:08:47 I gagged. 1:09:37 I threw myself OFF my couch. OMG.
The Monkey King in the novels steals peaches, steals elixirs, and likes to keep all sorts of gods' magic treasures private, and here he is merely taking a sip of your wine.
Peak video but chop chop Donta, I waited 3 week for halo 3😡
OMG He got the true ending 😮
You know what would have been cool Dante? Imagine if they made it so Wukong in this final boss fight has a set amount of stages, depending on how good you are at the game, how many secret bosses defeated, things collected, armor & weapons gathered, Stances & other abilities learned.
Imagine if for all those things, he had even more stages just to show that despite everything you've done you've still not truly become the best.
I imagine it'd upset lots of people depending on how many stages it was, & what he used in each of them to show the player he's more experienced. But it'd be sooooo cool & a further display of his prowess.
Some thoughts and perhaps spoilers
Wukong had to wear the headband for Wukong's master to be able to control him, therefore the Celestial Court (in a way) can keep Wukong under control. By the end of the journey, Wukong wanted freedom but the Celestial Court fear him. They never let Wukong took out his headband. (I might be wrong but in the story I have seen, Wukong's master can take off the headband but he never chose to. The master was always kind to others but not to Wukong. The master was pretty much like a puppet the Celestial Court used to keep Wukong under control)
I heard this from somewhere, since Wukong wore the headband before the Journey to The West happened.
Wukong is not brought back to life or smtg, he was never dead because Wukong represents his will, his character, his strength and so on. But thats my view, you can have yours.
Yo
