Kenner/Hasbro Trimaran (Kevin Costner's sailboat) playset/vehicle toy (toys) review from 1995 action/adventure/sci-fi movie, Waterworld, explained, video essay.
The Trimaran is probably my favorite movie vehicle. Even above the Millennium Falcon.
I stumbled on your channel while doing research for a Dungeons and Dragons type game inspired partly by Waterworld.
Ooo, a Waterworld inspired d-and-d campaign! I have always wanted to try that. You will have to let me know how it goes! And glad you found the channel!
I had this as a kid!!! You could not have done this better justice. A great boat, but a superb overview. Thank you for this!
A part of my childhood as well!
Was born in 1990 and I had never seen this movie until yesterday. What a great flick. Once it was over I had to see if they made action figures and man was I pleased! Your excellent videos make we want to get the whole line!!! Good stuff 👍👍👍👍👍
Yeah, I totally love the toy line. It's a really fun series to collect, and one that does not break the bank either! I say go for it!
I really enjoy your content you have a nice way of diving deep into the culture I'd like to see more of the same
Hey David, thanks for reaching out! It's very encouraging to hear this. I have some really cool stuff on the way!
Love the channel. A great 90's toyline :)
Thanks Meet and Greet! Hope to make some new videos soon, now that the holidays are over. Happy new year!
Just popped up on my feed and I had to see it again, what a brilliant review, good job my friend :D
Thanks Marcelo for giving another watch and dropping a comment! Yeah, I am still really proud of how this video turned out. And I think that the sort-of toy review /slash/ movie behind-the-scenes formula that I came up with in these videos is still one that could be explored with other franchises.
After all this time, I finally got my beautiful Trimaran toy thanks to my awesome friends from New Jersey who came to Australia for the 40th anniversary of mad max 2 celebrations. What a beauty!!!!! Don't hate me , but I'm going to repaint it!
So happy to hear this! I know this toy line can be quite difficult to find outside of North America. Though I have heard that the actual Trimaran from the film has been spotted sailing the coastlines of OZ, so for that, I am jealous of you! Happy painting!
Haven't seen water world, but I think your channel is high quality. Your production values are quite good.
Hey, thanks Shon! Waterworld the film has it's flaws, but it is most certainly ambitious and worth a watch!
The best review !!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I really hope they will make part 2 of that incredible movie 🤞🤞🤞
Still holding out hope!
Awesome video! I'm currently writing an article on Waterworld's anniversary and it was really useful. I'm also an action figure collector and loved to learn more about one of Kenner's most obscure toy lines! Thanks!
Awsome! Glad you found us! This whole channel is dedicated to waterworld so you may also find the other videos on this channel intresting for your research. I have reviewed the entire Kenner Waterworld toy line and how each figure ties into the film, so that may also be intresting to you!
@@TheAtoll Terrific! I've been watching some of your videos in the last couple of days. Great channel!
You have the box too!? I love this channel!
Oh yeah, got to have the box! In fact, it's the same one from my childhood!
I’ve always wanted this boat in real life since I saw the movie . I’ve seen one like 20 years ago
Yes, they really are extraordinary vessels! I think the closest I will get to owning one is this playset!
Cool channel for us who need info on the toyline. I'll subscribe, even though there's not much more toy content to create.
Glad to have you aboard!
Also, they're maybe one more toyline video in the future...on the unreleased Helen action figure! We shall see, we shall see.
@@TheAtoll I was going to ask you about that!
One of my favorite childhood toys
Same here Rexor, same here.
I remembet playing with it in my pool said its not made for water but would float a good 30 minutes before taking on too much water...good times, awesome channel!
Awww, thank you for sharing the memory Rexor! I have a similar memory of playing with the trimaran up in the lakes of New Hampshire. The thing is actually supper buoyant! Should have pointed that out in the review, but thanks for reminding me in the comments! Also, thank you for subscribing. Lots more videos planed in the new year!!!
I made the boat using knex as a 6 year old kit and it had all the same expanding sails and stuff
Wow, that that sounds so cool! I never played with Knex as a kid, just Lego, Erector, and this weird one called Construx. But it looked like you could do a ton of stuff with Knex, I always remember the roller coster set up in the stores. But man, you must have been pretty advanced at 6 to build a working Trimaran!
I saw the boat at Universal Studios Florida in 1996 but when I looked for it now on Google maps/earth its not there any longer.
Aw, yes, I suspected it my have been moved, or destroyed. I ran into a lot of conflicting information when researching this video. Great piece of investigation work on your part! Thanks for dropping this comment Juan!
I love it my friend :D just got mine, now I got to find a Mariner :D
That's awesome to hear! Which Mariner are you thinking of picking up?
@@TheAtoll I saw your video reviews and I was thinking about the power bow :D with ever variant they lol cool and I dig the bow
Good call. The colors on that one are probably the most accurate to the film and the bow is probably the most realistic weapon. Hope to see a review of some WW stuff over on your channel!
Such an awesome boat and video. Too bad you can't actually use it on water
Yes, pretty ironic! Though, I definitely played with it a lot in the water as a kid on the lake near my house.
I still need to find this to add to my collection!
Heck yeah! It's a spectacular and unique piece. And I know how you like your vehicles Blucker! Is this the only missing piece from your Waterworld collection?
@@TheAtoll that and the smoker deluxe fig! I might look for that variant figure.
Oh yeah, that's right! If I spy any killer deals on ebay, I'll shoot you a message!
@@TheAtoll sweet! Hey u may hit me up on Instagram as well if u have one!
Hey Blucker! This is the cheapest I have seen the Trimaran in about 10 mouths on ebay, depending on how the biding goes tomorrow. If you're interested: www.ebay.com/itm/Kenner-Waterworld-Trimaran-Movie-Vehicle-Playset/193187671779?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
The toyline is great it's a shame it didnt sell too well we could have gotten a Helen figure
I know Curtis! You have likely seen the Helen prototype figure, right? That's the holy grail of Waterworld collecting.
@@TheAtoll yes I have and it looks great!
Ever notice that from above the Atoll looks like the Millennium Falcon? One toy I wish they made for the line, imagine the cost, an Atoll play set.
Man, an Atoll playlet would have been the absolute dream.
@@TheAtoll I got thinking. Uh oh I know lol. The diorama I’m making of the Atoll, I think I’ll do an Atoll play set scaled to the figures instead. A 3D printed plastic one. The Atoll channel Atoll play set. Say that 3 times fast!
I was in Universal Studios for Halloween Horror Nights but did not see the Trimaran. Maybe because it was dark or maybe they moved it I don't know.
Oh, interesting. Was this in Orlando? I think unfortunately the Trimaran was moved from the lagoon some years ago after it started rotting, and actually I don't think the fandom currently knows where it ended up. I am thinking of doing a whole follow up video on this, so stay tuned!
@@TheAtoll Yes this was in Orlando. I will be waiting patiently!
One of the coolest toys ever made. Sadly they never made Helen
Yeah totally! The sculptors and toy designers working at Kenner at during the 90s really poured a ton of talent into every this they made. And, yes, I plan on talking about the unreleased Helen figure in a future video. I have a special suprise planned for that one!
Would have liked to see the new ship made from a jet fighter in a movie
Yeah totally! It's a pretty intriguing concept
Was wondering if you wouldn’t mind measuring the width and length of the Trimaran?
It's approximately 15 inches (38 cm) width and 20 inches (51 cm) in length
@@TheAtoll thanks a ton for measuring it. Have a great night!
THIS needs a rebuild with a good paint job.
Aw, yes indeed! I have a video on Waterworld fan projects here on this channel that shows off some really cool modifications of this toy.
They had 2 different boats in the movie if you notice there’s one with an egg beater when with the sales layer flat but when he pops the sales out of the the compartment that’s a totally different boat I don’t know why nobody notices
Yes, that's right! It was really fun to research all about this amazing movie set piece and talk about it in this video. Thanks for watching!
And one question popped into my mind: Does this toy float on water?
Ironically, and for some reason I didn't mention this in the videos, the packaging on the kenner waterworld toys advises you not to play with the toys in the water! Never stopped me as a kid however! But to answer your question, the Trimaran Playset will float for a minute, then fill up with water were the wheels are on the bottom and sink.
@@TheAtoll LOL! Unbelievable!
Shame the toy line was not that successful. I feel they could of retrofit the Jurassic Park Compound into a descent Atoll?
Haha! I have never thought of that! Cleaver idea!
Not enough NEON!!!!
