Tell me that the 80's weren't the apex of rock and roll.
I am waiting...
70s were better
@@jamesthomison4356 70's were great but the 80's were the best
Man, he sounded amazing live - hardly a difference from the original recording, that's talent right there.
Yeah actually think it sounds better than the studio recording
I agree, but I had to go to half a dozen of those INCREDIBLE gatherings, just to be sure! Purely for investigating reasons.
Saw the second show added in Kalamazoo. Simulcast on WLAV. Ted Nugent came on for the encore. One of my top 3 shows. Sammy was amazing!!
Now that's heavy metal 👍
I never heard such a good live song. Normally they either suck and are just balanced out by stage performance or are entirely playback fake but this sounded really good 🤌
Wasn’t a huge fan of Sammy, but, then, one day I went to see a major act and Hagar was opening. I was even thinking of skipping that part of the show. I stayed just out of laziness. Then Hagar came on and ripped our faces off. I was shocked. Seriously, he still might have been the best performance I’ve EVER seen, and I’ve seen everyone from Van Halen, ZZ Top, Raven, to ACDC,,, to Yngwie ,,,Kiss,,, and on and on. Sammy is simply pure rock and roll…
Smh
I had about the same experience!
Wow, what a story...😊 so awesome, Sammy can Jam ...
There's nothing like live old school rock n roll
Sammy Hagar is the singer in van halen after David Lee roth went and did his Yankee rose moment
Always love Sammy since Montrose to now. Nobody ROCKS like him😊
arguably one of the best vioces in rock and roll....
Oh hell ya that would be so cool if Sammy & Sebastian Bach did a song together they both have incredible vocal ranges
In my opinion, Sammy in his prime was THE best rock vocalist on the planet.
Two in the chest oh hell ya imagine if him & Ann Wilson did a duet since she’s like thee rock vocalist female!!
@@mkowboy13 Wow that would've been fuckin epic. Damn
Two in the chest could happen still lol there’s a chance either one of us just needs to tell them about this request
Sammy Hagar rules! He's 70 and still puts on epic shows!
I’m 27 and consider myself pretty lucky to have been able to see him. Can confirm this is true.
@Genetical Genius I'm a year younger than you and I can also confirm this.
Exactly!!
Wow he DOES sound the same live as recorded in the studio. True talent. The energy. They aren’t like this anymore anywhere
🧢
For the ones who recognize 👍
Damn! That's some mighty good Rock n Roll 👍👍👍
The Red Rocker has aged so well all these years later and still sounds great. He also gives the real respect we all feel for Michael Anthony. Bonus. The good dudes win. Sammy was always one of us...he just happened to be the one on stage.. I love that.
Red Bank Rocker is still a Rock & Roll Giant in 2023. Sammy will never die. the Music won't let him! I saw him in 2022, he still has the energy to Rock the House! Long Live Mr. Cabo, Three Lock Box.
I'm almost 40 years old and that was the most bad ass thing I've seen,
then or now?
EVER.
THAT RHYTHM SECTION IS MORE ADDICTIVE THEN FUCKING CRYSTAL METH.
He just performed this at Red Rock. Exactly the same at 75 years of age. Right On!!
I'm 51 and saw it live in 83 and i was one the most bass ass things!
Pretty much the best version of Heavy Metal recorded. This performance has the most energy and "fun" in it than any other version I've listened to.
Sammy Hagar's voice in its prime sounded awesome.
And he still sounds great in his 70s now ! Amazing !
@@charliehustle1540 TFF lol
RED ROCKER....the epitome of HEAVY METAL. love it
🚀
Saw this tour in San Diego... Sports Arena in 1983. Most ass-kicking live performance EVER. He was a madman, nonstop running up and down the ramps, Trans Am on stage, killer lead guitar, insane vocals. The ultimate front man. Live forever, please, Mr. Hagar.
Not a trans am just a Firebird no shaker hood or fender vents
Best double bill I have ever seen!!! Sammy and ZZ Top Eliminator!!!🤯👍👊Rochester NY 10000 seat hockey arena ! Mind Blowing
Damn..had no clue he could sing and play lead guitar like that. Pure rock n roll!
We are a fortunate generation. Kids are missing this........HEAVY METAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
41 years later and he's STILL the Red Rocker, STILL sounds incredible in his mid-70's and STILL seems to have the most fun of any rock icon ever. He truly loves life and feels so genuine and down to earth. Long live rock and roll, baby!
I THERE 1979 HOUSTON TEXAS JAM RED CAMERO, NOW JUST TURN 63! SAMMY KEEP GOOD HEALTH!!! RIP EDDIE!! VAN HALOEN VANHALEN FAMLY!
RIP Eddie. Sammy is still slaying it 35 years later.
Only Sammy Hagar would have a Trans Am on stage when he performs.
Didn’t see a lot of hard rock lead singer rhythm guitarists in the 80’s... Sammy is a special talent!!
Sammy mostly played lead guitar.
Looked like leads to me
Like this video cause it shows Sammy playing lead 👍
I LOVE YOU SAMMY HAGAR
Eddie VanHalens head was so swelled up that he didn't realize how he had one of the best singers in R&R history. Sammy took VanHalen to another level of music greatness.
Other way around, Sammy has said on numerous occasions that he had to step up his game when he joined VH because of their incredible musicianship.
@@Gerardus1970 WOW, because you are 1 out of a ten thousand people who thinks that. DLR was already so polluted by the time Sammy joined that Van Halen was thinking of hiring almost unheard of singer named Mitch Malloy, but foolishly their took the turd DLR back. 5150 was Van Halens first number one hit on billboards top 200. Facts are facts, feelings don't count. The Balance tour was bigger than anything they ever did with DLR.
Sammy b killing it on a real tip
@@mikeh.753 Not sure what you are rambling on about, I didn't mention DLR and I'm a fan of both eras of VH. Sammy said what he said and you can be ignored as you're not making any sense at all.
@@Gerardus1970 WOW mentioning that Sammy was better than DLR hit a nerve. But your right Van Halen didn't need a great singer , a great guitarist could carry the band by itself. That's the point I was "rambling on" about. Sammy was a top notch singer and he helped Van Halen come back from where they were.
Man, this band has some serious balls behind it! They sound incredible.
This song is absolutely where I stole my screen name from. "We got up front fanatics...tearing down the barricades!" I remember seeing this movie in middle school when it first came out. We had to sneak in. Definitely Sammy's best song IMO.
Sammy is very underrated.
THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS IIIIIIIIIIIIIIS FUUUUUUUUUUUCKINGGG AWESOOOOOOMEEEEEEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This guy could sing, i only ever heard the studio version. DAMN what a talent!!
Seeing rock concerts like this in the early 1980's was something else. The "fog" was pot smoke.
I know, becuase I was one of the technicans ;)
Sounds perfect. Very few sound perfect live.
+Richard Herzog That's cause he's lip synching. Doubt he's playing guitar either. Makes me sad, I thought old school rockers didn't do that shit
There is no lip syncing going on there. I saw that tour with the car on thr stage. He is just that good live. Go watch him at 69 years old, and you will be amazed that he can still sound just as good. Name a 69 year old rocker that can sing like that. There are none.
Sammy is awesome, seen him many times, including a couple months ago. Still killed it. There is only one other old man that can still sing like that, Klause Meine. They are in a class by themselves.
My moms friend is married to Sammy now and I got to see him and go back stage with him he was surprised when he heard I was a huge fan of his and that I was 12
I'm pretty sure he is not lip synching. Watch and listen to the video closely. He calls out to the crowd when he motions to them.
I can't believe I never looked this up before algorithm brought me here... I was at that concert 19 years old now I'm 60 and I can still sing all the words and air guitar the entire solo😂😂😂
Same here. Saw him open for ZZ top in '82 and Sammy KILLED IT !!
I saw ZZ 5 times and Sammy too
I’ve seen him live and he sounded exactly like the lp’s. Just raw talent. No lip synch needed!
we never knew we had it so good back then \m/ \m/
50,000 watts of POWER!!!!!!!!
I was at this show! WOW what memories! I was 24yrs old back then. Now I am 63 and still enjoy watching this..!!!
No harmonizers, no Autotune... 🤘🏻🤩🤘🏻
Was there!!! 3rd row. the best
My Older Brother went too. I went to several at the Dome. Best acoustics for Metal!
Is anyone else surprised that it was Sammy playing the solo? All these years I thought Gary Pihl played the leads on the tunes from Standing Hampton. Either way I wish I'd been at this show! Ever since the mid 80s I've been hearing people tell me that they went to his concerts not being a big fan andcame home a fan, because Sammy put on a show that knocked them out of their socks.
+Kevin Jokipii ... Sammy is VERY under-rated as a guitarist.
then again, when you share the stage with the likes of Eddie Van Halen and Joe Satriani, there's little point in picking up a guitar. THOSE guys don't even operate on an earthly plane.... they're out past the Asteroid Belt somewhere....
@@myrryxmas I think Sammy played the majority of leads on all his solo albums.
haggar is unquestionable.
they just don't rock like this no more!damn
The Metal anthem that still stands the test of time!!!!
my first guitar hero!
i was at this show!!!!!!!
Saw this concert in knoxville 83 or 84. He fell off stage into barricades slapping peoples hand at beginning of show. Got back up on stage, shook it off and played amazing show for next one and half hours. Damned good show. Red Rocker Rules!
Saw this in Bakersfield. Live. Amazing. Clear and no gimmicks
I so miss the 80's. You just hear that kind of talent today.
What 4 on the floor standard rock tunes you need to open your mind mate there is a big world out there .
I loved him back then. Such a complete frontman and guitar player. Great stuff.
Singing this song and playing the guitar on it at the same time is no joke! This is from the era when you had to be good to get a mass audience.
Saw Sammy last year for the first time at damn near 75 years old (I’m 29), and here he is ripping tequila on stage. Lucky enough to witness another performance this summer 🤘🏼
I saw Sammy at the Cow Palace on this tour. What a great performer.
This was my first concert
Yep, I was there. He has wild energy, all over the stage!
Sammy Hagar is my top five heavy metal groups Sammy Hagar
You really don’t really how great his voice is. Great rock and roll voice. One of the best ever.
Saw this live tonight at the Ryman 3-8-22. Just as good!!! He hasn't lost a step and the Circle is tight!!!!
At Checkerdome St. Louis!!!M
Sammy is just Badass!!! Killer vocals and a killer guitar player. Doesn't get much better than that!!!
Saw him at the LA forum in 1982, and I believe he opened with this song, and it was electric. That opening guitar heavy metal riff just blew the doors off. I was also stunned as I didn't know he played guitar. I had followed him since his early days with Montrose, and believe he was only a singer. Heavy Metal remains one of my favorite Hagar tunes, and Sammy rocks!!
Nobody does live like Sammy Hagar.
Saw him on this tour in Knoxville. Best concert I've ever seen. Incredible!
I was at this show. We sat behind the stage for Night Ranger and worked our away around front to see Sammy. Great show by both bands.
Wild!! Awesome performance. I was a fan of his back then, and I still am today. Thank god he"s still with us. He is still rockin at 75 years old, and he sounds great. I went to see the Circle last summer. It was a great show!! I recommend goin to see them. His voice is still great too. Peace ⚘
Sammy. Sammy. Sammy. Underrated AF. How is that possible? One of the best voices ever in rock.
I saw him back in 1976 or 77 when he opened for Boston. Brought out the car with ieatz28. Was my first concert and maybe one of the best. Capital center Largo MD
Saw him with Boston in ‘79. Blew Boston off the stage.
My first Sammy concert. Age 16. What a memory blast!
Even today at almost 75 Sammy still kicks ass
Kick ass song that matched a kick Ass movie during a kick ass time in life....
Everything I hear the guitar solo on Heavy Metal my mind flashes back to hearing this in my Torino as the secondaries on the Holley 4 barrel opened and the acceleration pushed me back in the seat.
Song is still 100% fire 43 years later.
I been a REDHEAD for 40+ years and this is the most awesome song & concert I've seen !!!!
Sammy is amazing live. Love him.
Love this....totally awesome...Sammy Rocks!!
I saw Sammy in concert on this tour. It was so damn cool when that car rolled out! One of the best concerts I ever saw.
I went to this tour! San Bernardino show. It was awesome! Was a hometown show.. he even brought his mom on stage.
What a voice. Voice of the gods!!!
My husband always said he is one of the top 5 voices in all of rock!
I saw Sammy first at the Texxas Jam in the 1980's. Good times👍👍. When this song comes up in my playlist while riding my motorcycle, I have to stay cognizant of my speed🏍🏍
I saw him open for ZZ Top in 83 in Atlanta...I remember him being insanely loud. 🎸😝
Simply Baddass!
AMAZING!
wow, just like the record! he's all energy.
i remember seeing Sammy in concert with Ted Nugent , I love Ted but Sammy put on the best show and it was soo cool when Sammy told the story of the Trans Am he has on stage with him and then lights it up with red lights inside it with dry ice for smoke and sang " My Babies On Fire " while it looks like his Trans Am is Burning ! I will never forget that night !
So great. All metalheads must love this😉
I saw montrose with Sammy in 1974 and they opened up for Arrowsmith. They most definitely rocked Cobo arena in Detroit and the energy was off the charts
Amazing Rock singer !!!
I was so happy to see this tour when he came to Anchorage, AK. He's a true artist. I was happy to see him again with VH. Sammy is the Man! I'm forever a Redhead!!
Sammy is a king
It's amazing how he sounds to this day after how much singing he's done in his career
For some reason this song really balls me up the way it builds up is dangerous! Kicks my ass.
Saw Sammi on Day on the Green in late 70's. He was great!!!
I think it goes something like this "if it's too loud, you are too old, and it's too late"! Real rock is just that LOUD, ROWDY, in you face, if you can't take it get out of the way! I remember seeing the movie/animated cartoon whatever you would call it, amazing animation for the time, 1981. To all stay well, safe, and peace to you and yours.
maf5454 Lemmy said it best. “If you think you’re to old for rock n’ roll, you are.”.....Mic drop
Saw him whilst still in HS. The " I can't drive 55 tour". With Night Ranger and Zebra I believe. Freaken fun AF concert!!! 3 bands is rare these days.
I was at this concert!!! AWESOME!!!!!!!
I was there that night, somewhere, doesn't get any better than that !
This was probably the Three Lock Box tour. I saw him in Indy in 1985 on the VOA tour. I've been to surely over 100 concerts in my 58 years and that is still in my top 5.
This is Lori Bach. Sammy, thank you for waking me up this morning! Always keep on rockin'! I've got my "hair thing" goin' on right now!
Sammy Hager is the master of the universe
