In this video I explain the difference between all of the hardware screws that are included in your new case and where to use them. Many times I have seen the mistakes being made by using the wrong hardware screws while building a gaming computer. Doing this can cause damage to your case and/or components. Since there are no instructions showing what screws to be used and where I figure I would make this video to help new computer building people. If you are in the Savannah GA are stop by my shop and say hello.

3 types of screws are used in pc cases: #6-32 UNC (North American standard, coarse) M3 (metric, fine) and fan screws (very coarse)

You visually demonstrated an important point Tim; when possible, test fit a screw using your fingers. Especially when it comes to the stand offs; nothing says you can't figure out the screws for them by hand tightening first.

I bought a Thermaltake Versa H22 Black ATX case. It came with three stand-offs. I bought a pack of stand-offs that had zero negative comments on Amazon and not one of them will fit in the Thermaltake. Not a single one. I guess I've got to just go buy another case. I can't believe this, I'm dumbfounded.

One of my friends wanted me to build their PC so I came round and they already put the MB in the case. So I finished the PC turned it on and it sparked. I looked again and they had used a PSU screw and shredded the top layer of the board and bridged a trace in the board with the screw.

If a motherboard is mounted like this I would not dare lifting it bij holding the cooler........, most cases overhere come with the screws and stand-off's in little plastic bags, almost every motherboard comes with a manual detailing the type of screw, the numbers included and it's purpose like: MB, SSD, ODD etc. Still often it is quite difficult to match the actual 'little' screw with the drawing in the manual........

Unrelated to the video (since there is NO methods anywhere, (UA-cam, Reddit, Tom's Hardware, LTT, ANYWHERE))
I have an ASUS TUF Gaming X570 Plus WiFi and a Zotac RTX 3060 GPU and the screw for the MB is too loose and wont fit all the way, the screws that came with the MB suck and will fall out,
I was told that if you don't have your GPU screwed in correctly, it can risk irreversible damage to the MB and/or GPU,
I don't have any tools to help the situation and I'm worried about damaging my MB/GPU
To ANYONE reading this comment, what do I do?
