Number one , thank you for using wood pegs , instead of metal pin's , they are just as affective & so much more easier on the eye's , & the end grain has such a sweet & subtle pop to it !!! Number two , this type of double bevel skew knife was the original go to whittlers / woodcarver's mainstay knife , going back a thousand years & more !!! long before the Wharncliffe pattern profile that we Americans have made so popular in most of the last 100 yrs !!! In many parts of the world , still to this day , the skew knife continues to be the most reached for pattern , to both rough in & detail with !!! Luthier's aka stringed instrument makers , would feel naked without 1 or 2 varying widths of skew knife's close at hand on their bench !!! At the end of the Depression , late 1930's , a very famous American pocketknife maker included at miniaturized version of this profile , on a 2 bladed & a 3 bladed whittlers pocket knife for sale here in America & probably Canada !!! But from 1940 forward the 2 patterns did not appear in the manufacturers catalog of available products !!! So sad !!!
Thanks for so huge answer. It's interesting to know, what people think about someone's work. For pins I use a wood (hard types) very often, but a metal has something special sharme too. Otherwise in this project I wanted to use something I've already had, and not to invent & improvise.
Another great video.
Thank you!
