I am looking forward to getting Season 7 of Doctor Who with Jon Pertwee. I do admit my favourite Doctor is Tom Baker who was my first Doctor Who I saw on the telly back in the 70's and early 80's. But I do like rest of the proper Doctor Who from 1963-1989. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everybody on the Whos Views Panel.
What a way to save a series; a new, dashing and heroic lead; an independent, intelligent companion; an array of fresh, intriguing aliens; a host of likeable, pragmatic military characters (as a useful counter to the Doctor's philosophy). Also, for me, the best introduction of a new Doctor in the series' history. Of all the extra features I have ever watched, I find the documentary to Spearhead from Space to be the most inspiring. THIS is the template for injecting new life into a series which, through no real fault of it and its cast/production team, had become a little jaded. How lucky we were to have the series seven production team! Many thanks, JT, Michael, George, Bedwyr, Paul, and Ian, for your own invaluable insights. All the best for now. Paul
I MUCH prefer the Autons Shop window dummies scene to the version churned out by RTD in Rose. It wasn't necessary to actually show them breaking the glass and climbing out etc.
I do feel it’s time that RTD&Moffat revisited these stories. To remind themselves of the heights this once great series used to hit! They have clearly forgotten. The trash they put out today is truly embarrassing when compared to these 55 yr old stories.
I'm pretty sure Bessie was also influenced from Stanley Unwin's old yellow roadster in Gerry Anderson's Secret Service Loved Caroline John and the character of Liz Shaw, the perfect foil for the Doctor. Not just a very pretty face, but intelligent and articulate. Season 7 was i think a unique Season in many ways. It was a pity the theme used in Season 7 wasn't used in the forthcoming seasons = more grit
I am so excited for this release! This is a classic in every sense of the word. I love that this season feels like a glorious mix of Doctor Who, Quatermass and The Avengers (the real avengers, not those spandex enthusiasts) The story I’m most enthusiastic about is Doctor Who and The Silurians. Having grown up with the novel, I was not disappointed when I first saw it. Anyway… Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!!
The People queuing for the Bus then getting attacked by the Autons shows that Doctor Who is eccentricity British and will never be a global hitter no matter what RTD and the rest think or say
That was synchronous JT; I just finished watching the DVD set of 'The Adventure Game' which was packed with Doctor Who alumni. Caro John is one of the top five companions and it's a must for devotees to watch the P.R.O.B.E. series therefore.
Idea for a discussion: Do you think it's possible to have a favourite Doctor other than the one you were first introduced to as a kid? Mine was/is Jon Pertwee in Spearhead. Then Tom. But Seasons 17-20 was when I changed from viewer to full-on fanboy, so Davison is high on the list. But where do you put the sublime first & second? I also love Colin, Sylv & McGann on audio. Charley Pollard is one of my very favourite companions regardless of medium. Over to you guys...

I do think a lot of the budget went to episode restoration for this season. Definitely the right choice.
Full bodied Science Fiction Series.

The three best British TV shows of all time in one glorious package!

I'm surprised Season 21 hasn't seen the light of day yet.
1:50:38 I'm pretty sure that moment was actually kept in for the Blu-ray release when I watched it on the Limited Edition.
