My Current Workout | For Foot Pump Dock Start Foiling | Jonathan Reinke

  • I have been changing up my workout to help me with Foot Pump Dock Start Foiling. This current workout should help me with my athleticism and also my confidence.
    Right now I can foot pump dock start foil for about 16 seconds and my next goal is to go over 30 seconds. I feel like I am improving on my tequnique in flight ... I feel a better off the water workout will help me too. During this video I was able to bounce mainly in regular stance movement for 2 minutes and 47 seconds. This is most likely way easier than on the water. I am thinking if I can do this workout with a bit more powerful jumps for 5 minutes this should help me level up on how long I can foot pump foil. 🙂

    I can help, when dock starting the first pump is key, I have my spine almost parallel to the board and as a goof my left should more for, I make my feet take the board frommy hands

    Now add 3 lb Dumbells. My favourite Pump Workout is to place a board on a Flat Balance Cushion and have 3 lb Dumbells in my hands and practice perfect Pumping form. I practice pretending going in both directions (foot placement) and perpendicular (even weight foot distribution). You will be able to train your Brain to get use to Pumping and Balancing at the same time while getting your Cardio Burn ;)

    Hi Jonathan ! Great to see your workout and also in Eric's videos your progress on Lake Ballinger with dock start ! I have 2 thoughts: 1) It looks like Eric is getting extra energy because he is not only using his legs muscles but also more swinging arms as counterweights. I know, that may be counterintuitive what I am saying BUT did you know that ancient war machine, the catapult known as "trebuchet" throws the object further away when it is on wheels ?
    2) Have you thought about using "pogo stick" to make your practice more efficient? I think it could be be better muscle/movement development as concreate does not flex/rebound nor "give away", the water does not flex but does "give away" (or is carved like snowboarding on moguls). Also Australian Kangaroo can travel great distances without consuming (and wasting) much energy.

      Good to hear from you. I have been so focused and having so much fun with dock starting I have hot had much wind watersports time.
      Mike B. recommended doing stair work outs. We did stair workouts in track but I have not thought about much. I looked up some stair workouts and jumping two legs at a time apears to have an oddly simmalar motion to foot pump foil.
      For my next few workouts I will try the stairs and think this will help. Right now I can foot pump foil for about 18 seconds and feel like I run out of power but am not yet tired. Just not enough juice. With stairs I think I can push myself longer to get a better workout. Hopefully soon I will be able to foot pump foil long enough to get a great workout doing that.
