Cz your point about Cartier being the first to merge jewelry and industrial design (7 decades before Genta) is a great one. You make it often and people should listen!
I recently added the Santos Galbee ref 2319 to my collection, this is the model with the guilloché dial in two tone, I love it. Still yet to see a Carree in the wild but looks beautiful in this b roll.
Your video from a couple years ago made me fall in love with the Carree and I recently got a two tone one. Most beautiful watch in my collection and on my wrist right now. Thanks for your content 👊
So is Michael gone? If so, can imagine the confirmation of Michael departing could to lead to subscribers jumping ship. The chemistry between the two was unmatched, the duality of east coast prep and raw denim head was a great balance that brought in a wider spectrum of viewers. We aren't owed a response, but the comments video after video clearly show people care
Yes you hit the nail right on the head. The Santos is both modern and elegant. I would say more modern and ahead of it's time. In full gold and in stainless steel this watch is timeless. In two tone this watch is stuck in the 80's where it belongs. I would keep it for sure you don't see many full gold versions. In regards to value. I think too many opportunists are jumping on the Cartier bandwagon. There isn't much documented reference history on Cartier like there is with Patek Omega and Rolex. Even John Goldberger has stated several times, researching vintage Cartier is difficult, not much reference information is available. We are starting to see other UA-camrs/dealers repeat what we already know, and heard from these bigger online channels. EVERYBODY has been a so called fan of Cartier. Yeah right fellas, C'mon who are we kidding over here. You are starting to see a push towards these vintage models as the new hype, rare, and special. No one is really a Cartier expert and even the most serious collectors are always learning of finding something new. 5 years ago many UA-camrs called Cartier more of a fashion/jewelry brand, no significant horological value to Cartier. Now.... EVERYONE is riding the bandwagon. Buyer beware and be careful with vintage Cartier. Cartier has never been consistent (production wise) with the other houses and references differ between Paris London NY. Cartier was more faked in the 70's than Rolex at one point.
Yup, the content creators who are all hyping up Cartier are just parroting what others have said and following a fad. Just like the oversized shirt fad, ppl will eventually look at this underwhelming ugly watch and question their decisions.
I know buying unpolished with these watches is super important -- would you mind going into a bit more detail in a video to really explain how to spot the telltale signs of a watch being polished?
Agree with everything you said except it being "manly." Maybe gentlemanly (that a word?), but not blue collar, tool watch manly per se. Though maybe that's a subjective observation. But I do want to get a Cartier Santos now for historical reference as a result of your channel. Thanks and keep up the great content and knowledge!
This Santos is the best looking Santos available. It’s got so much character and elegance that makes it uniquely sexy. Much better than Galbee. I almost bought one in the seventies but couldn’t afford it at the time. I bought the second best though 🙌
I believe that Cartier did (one of) the first wrist watches for men. There were already wrist watches out there but those deemed to be women watches only, if I am not mistaken. However, great content as usual!
So, out of curiosity……what is that number? If someone approached you and said, “Christian, I will offer you $xx,xxx”, what number would cause you to relent and sell?
For those asking what happened to Michael, I saw Michael at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Thanks my man!
Loved this channel for years. This is the stuff that I enjoy very much. Keep it up bro. You’ve made a Cartier boy of a Patek die hard.
Thanks my dude!
Great video as always. Elephant in the room :) ...has Michael completely left the channel at this point?
He just texted me the other day to come on the channel next month! Hope to see him soon!

Who remembers when Christian got two of these and tried to get his ex to have one but she didn’t want it 😭😭😭
Didn't want him either apparently
C’mon guys let’s have just a touch of sensitivity for the presenters personal life 🤦🏽
Hahahahah yes I remember that too. Sold it to a good friend who gifted it to his daughter!
So he saved lots of future time, energy, and money? Sounds like a great outcome.

Saw my fuse Cartier in the wild. Was at the airport talking to an older woman about our flight being delayed and noticed she was wearing a Ballon Bleu
What ever happened to Michael? Did he get fired?
His UA-cam channel has been taking off, so I would t be surprised if he left.
No sir! He has his own work he’s focusing on and I’m completely supportive!
@@danielcuevas5899what’s his UA-cam channel?

Love the Cartier brand.

Love that watch. Don’t get rid of it.
Hi Theo thanks for another great video, especially this one.
I managed to pick up a 1990c Cartier Santos Carree "Or Massif" this week.

is it quartz ?
No, Carree is always automatic.
Hard sell for many store’s. They sit on the shelf and collect dust. Just ask any reputable dealer.
I have a SS Santos. Would LOVE to have a gold version!
Christian, what would you say is a fair market price for a two-tone Carree 2961 in good condition?
what is the reference of this? is it 29mm case? thanks
30? These are going for around 20k now.
Correct. IDK where he’s getting the 30k figure.
Not good examples
I think you missed the point.
20k profit? Did you get it for free?
I’ve added a 987901 and a 187901 to my collection… looking for a 887901!
Loved the episode.
Where's the Chrome Vanadium Escargot been at???
I miss Theo.

I've been looking for a good one of these for months now! Stop educating people so I stand a chance of getting one ;-)
The eloquence
sounds like a Pump & Dump
It was not the first wristwatch. It was (maybe) the first wristwatch for men. Women have been using wristwatches, while men used pocketwatches.
10/10 as usual
PLEASE ROB ME!! 😅
Where you getting 30k from (assuming USD)? Sitting at ~20k on Chrono now and when this vid dropped.. 🤔
I’ve never seen someone blow squarespace as hard as I just saw you do it. Damn, you really hawk thua’d all over them. 4:00

Good question. Probably 60 cash???
@@TheoandHarris that would be a good return on an $11k investment. Maybe one day.
Even if you sold it, you will always know you'll never buy one for 11k again! That's gotta be enough to never want to sell
Amen!
Everything has a price
Gold/white was made for you. Pairs with your skin tone, hair color and glasses...throw in some gold teeth between your pearly whites and show time.
Thank you!!! And hahahhaa
It's funny how I watch these videos religiously. Manifesting for real.
Sell it
30g? Not in this condition. Great watch tho!
Of course, you can't sell it; I painted it for you! 😆
You say 30k is insane for a watch, but how much did you pay for your Gerald Charles ?
WHERES MICHEAL
I also have an unpolished one, I only would consider selling it if someone would offer me 100k
Shove it up your 💩 for that
Do NOT ever sell it!

What's wrong with wearing this watch in NYC? Did the lib's policies finally make NYC unsafe?
