I have owned a Tonale for a year now; unfortunately I think the car is under-rated and it's also carrying the Alfa baggage of yesteryear. You guys gave it a positive and fair review; the curb is 4133 lbs a bit less than you quoted but it matters because it has a small engine/battery... thank you.
@@drplando14 I've had the car since December and it's been great. No issues so far, comfortable, good ride quality. My commute is about 30 miles round trip so I can do most of my daily driving in electric mode which is fantastic. I charge at home on a regular 110 outlet. The performance in dynamic mode is solid but not as engaging as the giulia or stelvio, but that's to be expected.
@@drplando14I own the 1.5l turbo hybrid and I must say it is a very fun to drive car. Some journalists have said it’s underpowered 118 Kw we get in South Africa and I disagree. This thing is punchier than many cars on our roads including your X1 and Q3. Handling is unmatched
@@mtc6050we have to be kind to the Tonale and compare it to its rivals the X1 and Q3 including the Evoque. That’s where it competes and in my view it is a solid package compared to all its rivals
Excellent review guys. I just took ownership of a Tonale in June this, we don’t get the plug in hybrid in South Africa. I just adore the car and the way it drives and handles especially in the dynamic mode
I bought an Alfa Romeo Tonale Sprint model PHEV ( the base model, not the dolled up, expensive Veloce model, which is more readily more available, as for every Sprint model Alfa imported, they imported 9 Veloces ) almost a year ago. I was the first one to buy one in Canada, and basically bought it off the truck. I paid less then MSRP, and got it less then what a Ford Escape PHEV ( which at the time had a dealer mark up of $3,500, and add ons like $3,500 for Ford's Blue Cruise ) was going for, and where a RAV4 Prime ( basically the same price without add ons ) was ( and still is ) unavailable, and a 2 year old used Prime was selling for $14,000 more then my out the door price. Other then 9 recalls ( 2 for decals that did not have metric or French on them, that I did myself, 3 for checking high voltage connections were tight, no parts needed, 1 to replace a switch, and 3 for software updates, because where I live the vehicle would not update itself ) I have had zero problems with it, everything is operating above my expectations, and I am getting better electrical range and gas mileage then stated on the Vehicle MSRP sheet. It handles great, looks much nicer then its competition ( I compared the Sprint model against the Escape and Prime, where most reviewers, etc., compare the Veloce model that they are given by the dealers against the BMW X1 or Mercedes GLA, etc. which to me is not a fair comparison, especially a PHEV to a non PHEV ). It is not perfect, just like every vehicle in certain aspects, but I love it, love driving it, glad I bought it rather then any of the half dozen or so other PHEVS I test drove, and I would buy it again. And, it fits nicely in my garage. All new vehicles have their problems, and mine did too, but the dealership I bought mine from, bent over backwards to accommodate me with the recalls, offered me a loaner while my vehicle was being serviced, and Alfa has resolved every issue with my vehicle, some well documented. I cannot say I would have gotten the same treatment from any other manufacturer. Maybe I am lucky with my vehicle, but my whole experience, from buying it through to service, driving, etc., could not have been simpler, easier, stress free, and satisfying.
Im interested because ill have 3 driving types. Boring slow commute which this can do as an ev from a home charge. Occasional long journeys, this can do without stopping for a long charge. Fun drives where you can rev the engine and get that exhaust noise and command the down shifts and NO CVT!
I am looking for a replacement for my 1991 Alfa Romeo 164S and have decided to go the hybrid route. I'm waiting for the 2025 Honda Civic hybrid to hit the showrooms and the Tonale has been on my radar as well even though it is quite a bit more expensive. I'll have to take a closer look while waiting for the Civics to show up.

Not a bad car. I like the hybrid design they came up with for this 👍.
As a Tonale driver, this was a solid review compared to most of the others I've watched. You gave the car a fair chance.
It's a good package! Sporty handling, handles cracks, good sound system and ingenious engineering. The storage is small though.
What is your review of it? Kind of what to hear from an owner that drives it regularly

I'm very happy to hear your positive experiences! Thank you for sharing all of this. I think the Tonale is a great all around package.
Thank you for sharing. I wanted one but since it was too new I wasn’t sure if I should wait a few years til they figure out the bugs
@drplando14 always good thinking, it takes a couple of years at least to work out the bugs with most new models.

Sounds like this CUV will fit your needs!

At least test drive it for now, right?
Hi Jeremy, I have a friend who bought the Dodge Hornet version, we haven't spoken lately but she had nothing but issues with her car...
I hope warranty can sort it out! I wish them luck with it.
I've never heard of this car manufacturer. Is this an import?
Yes, from Italy!
