How To Remove Pinstriping and Hand Painted Lettering

I get asked regularly how to safely remove pinstripes and hand lettering from vehicles. Because let's face it, things change and sometimes enamel paint needs to be taken off of a truck or car (boat, snowmobile, etc) So here's some of my preferred methods that I've discovered. It's a semi-scientific test of chemicals and abrasives. My favorite method? Pressure washing at point-blank range. I discovered that using a combination of oven cleaner, pressure washing, and finally buffing gave me the results I was looking for.
Our test vehicle is a 1995 Ford F-150 with factory paint and clear coat. The lettering and pinstriping was done by me three years ago using Alpha6 Enamel. There's no clear coat on top of the lettering and striping.
DISCLAIMER: these test results might be different on your particular project so take your time and do your own testing carefully! Work safely, use PPE and ventilation.
All of the products I used are commonly available at local hardware or home improvement stores.
