This is one of the crappest product from Atomos. no Brainer why do we need the shoot Prores on mobile? 300 dollars you can get the 5 in Atomos Ninja 5 you can record even RAW on external Hard drive. why the hell we save that footage on our mobile and when its full we have to download the footage on computer and clean and then back.
Not only is the phone doing the heavy lifting, it's also the screen! An Atomos Shinobi is cheaper and that comes with a screen. This should be half the price, at least! Disgusting that they also advertise all the iPhone specs for the product as well. Half the product page is just the iPhone!
Well SeeMo does not support ProRes nor H265, nor 10 Bit when I understand their specs right. So the ATOMOS product would be my choice and the price would be ok... if 4K would be possible. People that are fine with 2K recording do not need a pro camera and no external recorder. I really wonder what ATOMOS people are thinking who would be interested in something like this.
But if the point of this is to upload proxies for offline editing, why do you NEED prores, or h.265 10bit? If I can get some good enough quality files to my editor while I shoot, for 1/2 the price. My ninja sits on the shelf because I need to pay for the Atomos cloud service to upload to frameio
Interesting, but the Monitor+ app seems to be sufficient. I only need a USB-C cable to connect the camera to the phone and a magnetic holder with a hot shoe to mount on the camera. In total, I spent less than €40 (app + 30cm USB-C cable + Magnetic mount)
So you have to buy a unit for your particular phone? And if you change phones and the new one doesn’t fit, you’re out of luck? And what about storage? Even the latest iPhone Pro Max won’t record ProRes 60 internally. I don’t see any benefit of using your phone over just buying a ninja V. So many unanswered questions here.
Love the idea but it’s absurd that the video resolution (according to your website) is only 1080p. It’s 2024 and cameras are shooting 6k, 8k, and even 12k (even if no one is delivering in those resolutions). To not be at least 4K is ridiculous…
Also pretty shameful that all your advertising seems to try to hide this until you get into the complete spec list. Most of it just says “ProRes 10-bit”. 🤦🏻♂️

$400 + $60 case for a glorified FHD 10-bit capture card and NPF USB hub? Classic Atomos. These recording specs are nearly the same (except 1080p60) as a Ninja 2 from literally 12 years ago that you can get for under $200 to record to an SSD directly. Use the passthru to a cheap UVC USBC adapter if you need the brightness of your phone. Or if you need to stream/record 4K, use a Camlink 4K or a Z Cam Ipman Gemini for $60 to get 8bit 4K in the same form factor. I don't know of any RTMPS/HLS livestreaming mobile apps that can handle a 10bit pipeline but maybe the Ninja App will add that.

Unlikely. Uncompressed FHD video takes up a big chunk of a USB3 bandwidth, so I can't imagine adding a stream to the storage device would work. If it could record to an SSD, it would probably have the capability to run standalone without the phone, essentially a Ninja 2 without a screen.

well since accsoon already developed the translation layer, i guess you could say the best innovation here is a locking hdmi. btw, android can do this for about $15 but that's an apple problem.

Yea, I’m having connection troubles too. 😅, I want to love this thing. I downloaded several Atomos App. Subscribe to their cloud, frameiO, and tried to use the device with a Sigma FP, Fuji 100S and even a BMPCC 6K G2.. I noticed at Bhphoto website, the ninja phone is “ currently unavailable “. In one video , which was at NAB 2024. You can see they are using the Atomos Cloud Studio app. That doesn’t exist now. I’ll give it a few days, if not I’ll buy the Ninja V. This thing could be awesome, but not sure what gives.
can you guys leave an opening on the back for the camera iphone? so we can easily switch to iphone shooting. or even just be recording video at the same time?

If I wanted to shoot 1080p RAW I would just use my Canon 5d3 with Magic Lantern with great results. No contraptions needed. Sorry, no 4k is a deal breaker.
As silly as it might look, it is a pro solution to something we are jerry rigging. Can it record on the iPhone directly? that would be sweet for social media snap reels. It would also be sweet if it could at the same time record from the iPhone to the ssd
This product would be awesome and I would buy it for sure.... but only if 4K would be possible. Like that it is useless. Of course I do not need 4K in my final works, but I need 4K as a working base to be able to digitally zoom in post. 400 € just for a better monitor... well so sad.

That's where you get a spare phone for this. Who uses their personal phone for work? I don't know anyone who's anyone who doesn't have a minimum of two phones.

ProRes codec is 10bit max. ProRes 4444 have 12bit

I gave up on 1080p in 2017 my G, which is still late. its good to move forward guys.
What happens when they update the phone size and/or add buttons, as rumored for this fall.
Wonder if this could be used just as a viewer for my Sigma FP without attaching a battery to the NP but instead USB-C power from camera or V-Power.

Basicly an overpriced phone charger that coverts hdmi to iPhone's port while not supporting old devices.
Point of failure. One odd phone update that doesn’t jive with this system will make it useless for a few days.
