"Stitch in the Ditch"...so THAT is the invisible secret! Thanks Shae.
Every time I need a tutorial on an alteration TTP (Tactic, technique, procedure) your videos save the day!!! And you explain and show how to so well!!! Thank you!!
This was exactly what I needed! My son is still growing so putting a cuff on his dress pants means I can I cuff them and even let the hem out as he gets even taller!
Incredibly helpful, thanks!
Hi, just wanted to say how useful your video is. Very clear and the quality and edition are really good! Thank you very much for sharing this
I really appreciate it!
thanks. You made this really simple.
Great job, my mother was a tailoress in her day, I wish I had taken more notice of what she did and learn from her.
This is the perfect tutorial! I was able to get a good cuff on the first try with this video!
Thanks for this
I learned this in school and haven't needed to use it again until today, thanks so much for the refresher!!
Awesome thanks 💯
❤ you are the best ever! Thank you so much!!!!!❤
Thanks, Shae...I'm going to try this-all by hand.My wife won't do it.I buy a 29 in inseam but they are still too long because of high rises on pleated dress pants, and- I must have the shortest legs known to man-Two pair of expensive wool cuffed pants, which of course be dismantled b4 anything else
Thank you! I’ve been wanting to do a cuff on my trousers (as we call them over here!) for ages and this made it really clear.
Excellent instruction, great video.
Fabulous video . Easy to follow
Thank you! Super easy to follow 😊
This just got me together! 🎉 Thank you!
EXCELLENT TUTORIAL.
This video is very helpful. Thank you so much🙏❤️❤️
Hello, and thank you very much for this video - I followed the instructions and succeeded because your instructions are so clear and easy to follow. I now have turn ups on new Scottish Tweed Trousers and they look fabulous. Thank you again.
Great video! Thank you so very much❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful.
Good demo'.
This is such a great video, thank you very much! How do you handle the hem if there is any taper in the trouser leg? I can't get my head around how to angle the hem to enable the cuff to lie flat. Any advice gratefully received :)
@@gracie45 Thank you ! I found this video too, but from memory I don't think it's the same construction as a turn-up. However, I just had some turn ups to do on tapered trousers and found that it's exactly the same method as for taking up any tapered trousers. Nothing complicated or special at all!
Great tutorial. Thank you so much. It’s my first time doing this. I do have one question. Since you’re only tacking down the two side seems, what keeps the front and back cuffs from flopping down. I am working on a pair of dress pants that are not wool so they don’t stay very well.
Could you do a video on how to put a very wide cuff on a pair of bell-bottom shaped women’s pants? Kind of trendy now but the last step, stitch in a ditch wouldn’t be enough to hold up a very wide cuff. Thanks in advance! Love the tutorials!
Excellent tutorial as always. I just tried this with some high twist dress pants and after doing the straight stitch my fabric wasn’t lining up. It was lined up when I pinned it but after the straight stitch it seemed to be puckering. Any idea why?
This works great when the pant leg opening is not tapered. What is the solution when there is a slight taper and now you have some bunching at the cuff?
Hello, I see you asked the same question as I did! Did you find a solution for this issue? I'm still searching, and still can't figure out the angles for a cuff on a tapered trouser leg.
There’s a video by Gentleman Jim Tailor where he talks about how to handle tapering legs at the end of the cuff instructions video.
Excellent instructions! What Yukie model do you use?
I've got a Juki 8100e but Im not sure they make this model anymore. The industry standard Juki is an 8700 but it does not have automatic functions in the pedal.
Hi, Im am brand new to this, when you are done with a stitch, I dont see you use scissors. Does the sewing machine cut your thread automatically when your done???
Really great explanation and a pleasure to watch, thank you. Is a 1.75 inch cuff ok too?
Yes, it's okay too, even 2 inch cuff is great and many elegant man (idk if you're a man or woman) strive for 2 inch cuff as it looks very proportionate and stylish. So long story short, don't know worry and experiment :)
@@beatermatrix5923 I'm a man, I was thinking about suit trousers, thank you!
What is the name of your bobbin winder?
There isn't a specific brand but the one I'm using is linked in the caption and available on Amazon.
Can you please do a video on altering the crotch ?
Absolutely, we’ve had a lot of requests for this so it’ll be coming soon!
You are excellent at what you do. I’ve used two seamstresses in Az, both were hacks.
I have that same bobbin winder, blink and it’s done. It’s so much better than the one on my machine, and it’s a 1541s.
