FYI if panels rattle too much use 1/4" or smaller foam stripping between panel and door to muffle the rattles. Hope that helps, love the vids. Keep it up Birdy!!
If you get bored and want to play with effects, frost the acrylic and play around with etching. Either way, it's a cool diy for missing door cards in drift builds. I'm tempted to do this in my g35, but it would be a pain as my switch setup is on the door card. Keep up the great work Birdy.
I would get some of that gutter material they use in between widebodys and wrap that around the edges for a cleaner look. But looks miles better than it was before! love seeing this build evolve.
Good idea to anyone, if your doorcards are busted anyways (all e36 owners) but you dont want such a stripped look, just cut a good chunk of your doorcard where theres fabric or something, slap acrilic instead and the lights too So you get a less stripped look and you get interior lighting like modern cars, bonus points if you tint the acrillic
OK, I was skeptical at first. However, thats dope Nice job. An idea to add to this. Polish everything inside to be really shiny, then the light would reflect and bounce around in there. Just a idea
You should totally use a dremal and engrave the doorcards with a design to showcase your work 👏🏽 the leds will hit it and look dope! Much love from AUS 💚
Bro that is sick. I just love it. I'm in south africa and door panels especially for the coupe and vert are very scarce and pricey. Ive been struggling to fix my door panels for the longest times. This is dope. Will definitely try it out.
Use a propane torch and brush the flame around the edges of the plexiglass you cut and it will turn back crystal clear. called flame polishing. looks good man
I see birdy is getting into his DIY bag, good shit brother....1 thing though bro, maybe look into fuse tappers, they're like 5 bucks at your local auto part store and they allow you to tap into your fuse box if your trying to do LED stuff, and not connect anything to your battery, i'm doing a few crazy things with LED's too, rolls royce stary headliner, and a few things, definitely try fuse taps br0other, but as always dope ass DIY, i love it, keep it up as usual bro!... #staydriven !
A tip when soldering: put the soldering iron on the coper cable you want to solder, let it heat up, and then put the tin on there, what you did looked like you where adding tin ontop of the cable, might be good for a lil while, but its far from strong.
On an acrylic test piece, try and see if a torch or a lighter will melt the edges a bit to make them shiny again. Idk know if it works on that stuff, but that would look clean af.
Definitely a fan of do what you want, but as someone who works with acrylic almost daily, you do NOT want this shattering near you. Lexan or something that won't splinter would be a better choice, you can get it in clear or diffused (which would help your LED's greatly by the way).
You know something Birdy it's really incredible that I've been following & subscribe to your UA-cam channel since . You put the Green and black sterring on the FRS and because of you I'm putting a NRG sterring wheel on my 96 Ford Probe
If you want the insides of those doors to REALLY shine, take everything off, spray the bare door skeleton with silver, clear it, and put it all back (only behind the plexiglass though, dont do the jams) The silver will catch a lot more light and the green sparkles will look sick.
When I was 14 I had an idea to do something similar but instead of having the lights for the inside I was going to drill holes in the door and have them shinning outside to match a sick old school tuner graphic.
@@kingsmustrise Aluminum spacers is my initial thought. Also, brake line cut-to-length is a cheap and easy way to make your own metal spacers. You'll figure something out. I think your idea was awesome.
This is awesome mabey would be cool with some tint over it so you can't really see all the internals but still see the light I'm gun a steal this idea for sure
Super creative idea! keep it up Birdy!! -Evan
Hello
coming from the master
First Ever - 👍
this is so dope, it looks like a custom PC
thats totally where i got the idea haha
After a little more than four years serving in the marines, I’m back catching up with Birdy’s videos.
Thanks for your service! 😃
Welcome back yo ✌️😘
welcome back sir, thanks for your service.
How many crayons would one (boot) consume during a 4 year?
-USAF vet
Welcome back brother!
you could try to add a thick weatherstripping along the edge to seal/weather proof it. Also might be a cleaner look!
Was thinking of it!! Probably will to really clean it up
thank god i found this channel👌👌
Take a torch to the edges of the plexiglass, makes it smooth and glossy . Great work
You should try to do the hood next!!!!
Definitely stealing this idea from you for my S13!
Yerrr paradox wassup

This dude is the king of Mickey Mousing.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 omg he even takes it as a compliment, straight butchered that bmw
@@sasukeuchihaanbucapt what do you think mickey mousing means?
@@sasukeuchihaanbucapt it's a compliment, its the musical accompaniment...which is everytime on point...thats micky mousing...🙏

i actually thought about this! or some sponge seal thing that goes on the edge you're right!
Yes!!! 2 vids this week couldn’t be any better !! Keep it up 🔥 👍!!
This is some oldschool birdy vibes man. Turned out great!

Beside the dope idea...the video.. the cars, the Crew, lets appreciate him as a nice guy! reads every comment and leaves a heart ❤
I owe it to you guys =)
Looks sick! Now you can see the window regulator pop off the white plastic on the rail.
Yes sir yes sir gohon is adorable keep up the great work my friend
I was planning on getting rid of my door panels since there broken so i might have to try this
hell ya brotha
Ngl at first I didn't see it working out but looking at the final product, I kinda wanna do it now 😂 looks amazing
Let's gooo
It would look way better if you tinted them green just a light tint so you can still see the inside when you get closer to the door
Or some detailed engraving soo many possibilities...
Clear door panels look a lot cooler than i imagined
I was thinking the same
Cool mod bro, your Lexus front bumper mod from back in the day inspired my Celica/Carolla bumper build.
sweet deal!!
@@kingsmustrise if you have time please check out the bumper we made for my son's Celica GT. ua-cam.com/video/SGfTfQbwZBs/v-deo.html
Always wanted to try this with my Pontiac G6 Convertible rear speaker panels. It's a big flat panel.
birdy this...THIS RIGHT HERE. IS RAW AS HELL MAN!
Such a dope concept especially with the added lights, this is gonna look sick
No cap, those doors are so dope. Nice work young grasshopper
Sick!! E30/36 door panels are a pain over time. This is a dope alternative
Roof leaks always happen in the worst spots! Good job on the door panels! Fuse that light circuit!

I thought about this toooo let the light travel through some design mhmm
Shame I was a bit later to this one. I do believe tho that u have a very unique design. I don’t know if anyone else has done this. Looks 🔥👍
Birdy does whatever the fuck he wants, that’s what make him unique
Drill corners and then cut lines. Faster and cleaner 👍

weight reduction and a bit of eye candy with the LED's, that is a dope idea.

Ooolala birdy back at it again! You think up some of the dopest mods. So creative, I love your work!!
its definitely the art side
@@kingsmustrise keep up the good work! Can't wait to see more!
You can paint the silver or clean it up to add to ot
Very nice idea. Now I need these on my e36. But i think, a translucent acrylic could fit better, to difuse the light.
Love it.. Its something really new...I hope it catches on
The e36 is gonna be a sick drift car for sure, also the lzmfg hoodie is sick. I got the t-shirt version of it lol
Bro ur wild... one love man keep modding. Add some rubber around the end of the acrylic would clean it up alot
Was gonna save this video for tomorrow but ehhh, a late nite birdy vlog before I head to bed always hits the spot 👌🏽
Turned out pretty sick! Super unique 😄
a good idea! it is better to install the backlight on top because water and dust will collect at the bottom
Its been awhile since I’ve watched your channel. Or anyones for that matter, but oh man I’ve missed this! Such an inspiration on any and everything!
Looks really cool to do it in a drift car! At night must be awesome! Love the DIY 🔥💪💪
Yess I should do at night in car pov ;)
@@kingsmustrise Oh yes you should! Just do it! 😁
Love your art and your image. The concept is awesome, but the only thing that I'm thinking about is water getting in

Can't wait for you guys to be able to be open and ready for everyone and now you have made me want to modify my doors like yours
watched the whole thing. end product looks dope!
Dude this is such a cool idea. More like this!
Sand and flame polish those edges and it would look clean af. Also I work for a place that makes hooks for retail.

I like the straps. But if they can actuate the door it would be even better
im definitely stealing this idea one day, looks dope af
Believe the sticker stuff might have been the vapor seal. Be careful when it’s wet cause you don’t want to get mold inside.
Door cards looking minty 🙌🏽
Looks grouse. Hats off to you
WR Display should have the pegs you need for the board.
wait, you're are right! forgot about them
That's pretty sick ngl
This is so cool, I really want to do this one day. well done birdy!!
Adding this to my list, thanks birdy!
Looks awesome, great idea!
you should make inside of this door like a a gundam engine... idk, put some things behind the glass if you know what i mean. looks sick!
This is nice. Very creative bro!
You should set up some beds for those shop dogs for sure. 😎

i want to build a e36 too after seeing most your build videos
