    You’re on the Dashing Axe channel, and in this video we’ll make a crazy project that took more than one month of work, a lot of technical difficulties, buckets of epoxy resin, success and disappointment - all this in one short video. And in the end we get a transparent hood for the car. Enjoy watching.

    Been doing glass work for almost 30 years. I'm the plant manager at a fiberglass shop. Pretty nice work. The only thing I would suggest is pre wetting your mold before your first layer of glass, the resin should always be coming up through the glass bringing the air with it. Also easier to wet out that way.

This looks like about $750-$1200 dollars worth of work if you charged for it. Maybe for the next hood, you guys throw in an LED Strip that frames the hood and engine bay. I’d say go and grab a Subaru Impreza hood from the junk yard, make a new mold and then your business will really get going. Good Luck Guys and Great Video.

    I have no idea whom or what JDM is, but this hood is an outstanding piece of creativity and craftsmanship, I liked how the LED integrated, too!
    The workmanship, cost and time involved were remarkable, though you should be able to offer some for sale now that you've created the molds.

    • @theguywithgaugedears
      @theguywithgaugedears 2 роки тому

      JDM stands for japanese domestic market. it classifies any car made in japan. the appeal is japanese brand cars like honda cars sold world wide often had special stuff like stereos interior and exterior pieces. right hand drive chassis (steering on our passenger side) usually lots cooler than whats on USDM cars (united states domestic market) of the same company making the 'same cars'

    • @AaroKo
      @AaroKo Рік тому

      @@theguywithgaugedears not true, it does NOT mean any japanese car that's made in Japan! it means only cars that have been built specifically to Japan to comprehend their regulations. so for example BMW (german automaker) has JDM models too if they're built to meet Japanese regulations for japanese market

I had the idea of making the body out of PYREX material. Something really clear and heat resistant, shock resistant. It would have been expensive and I needed tooling to make the shaped glass. Thought of approaching Corning, but it never happened. Totally blown away by this project. Would like to see a whole vehicle done though.

    This is a prime example of customization at its limit defining labor induction. It sets a mark of achievement rarely approached and often becoming a destination of desire that few have the fortitude and discipline to realize. I am in awe of the ability and work drive these individuals demonstrate in our present times. I am utterly baffled and continue to wonder 30 years since my introduction to the Definition of JDM why it continues to stagger sideways and fall flat off of generation after generation's blasphemous lips. What once was so briefly here to even be seen and sightings retold igniting life long quests for holy grails In sometimes singular quantities forged by life being the labor driven brands that have become biblical recantation uttering spoken when God like perfection is remembered. Companies who to those who vow to remember history were the closest anyone has come or some feel may ever come to creating perfection at any expense and so briefly achieved that such idolatry would be promptly and purposely lost to private archives of those lucky enough to have been in the right place at the right time...
