That machine should have come fully serviced !!! Tip : Take your filters to your local auto parts store that sells Wix filters and have them measure the filters and see if they have them. If not try whoever sells Baldwin filters. Most equipment filters are made by these two companies and rebranded. Sometimes they can t sell them under their name though. Also sometimes they will have a filter that is the same except a half inch or inch shorter or longer or bigger or smaller diameter that will work just as good. You can save as much as 75 % on the price of each filter. On our John Deere skid steer the air filters were 75.00 cheaper inner and outer and the in cab a/c filters were 40.00 cheaper each !! Thats a 250.00 savings each time you change them. If your engine air filter does not have a precleaner on it get one and install it if you are using it in dusty conditions!!! It makes a huge difference. Operating in west Texas I was having to blow out the air filter every 3 hours. We put a precleaner on and only had to blow the filter out every two to three days. If you are using it in the wind keep the wind at your back so the dust blows out the front of the machine and that will help your air filter stay clean much longer.

I suggest, since you have the load noise during the machine movement, you need also do the hydraulic motor track oil change as well, I'm sure it will eliminate the motor track gear noise/ grinding noise when you move the machine.

  • @bigjohn2048

I don t know what you need high flow hyds for but don t turn it on unless you are using an attachment that needs high flow. If you are planing on getting a forestry grinder/ mulching head you need to see if Bobcat makes a Lexan shatter proof / bulletproof door for that machine !! When they first came out with that head for John Deere skid steers a man that bought one of the first ones was doing his fence row by raising the head and letting it down on the trees in the fence row and he accidently got a t post. It ripped the t post out of the ground and shot it back through the door and out the back window missing his head by inches. John Deere immediately had the Lexan doors made. We had just bought ours and Deere requested that we not use the head above ground level until our door came in and was installed. I hope this helps you. Stay safe. I enjoy your and Wallys videos immensely !!!

Thanks for another great video Hank. It was interesting and enjoyable.
Looks like a nice machine you got there. Descent price and delivery was reasonable so you did alright. Good catch Hank.
The other thing I noticed was it was not roughed up at all. Looked pretty darn nice for used one. Used ones a lot of times are beat up a bunch. This one was not.
Really handy machine to have. Will do a lot for you on your place.
    Enjoy that machine Hank.
Thanks for showing us the servicing and getting it all freshen up. Was interesting.
You take care and be safe with your skid steer.
Looking forward to the next video.

Think I would have went the ASV or Takahoochie route, Bobcats ain't bad but think the others are a little tougher. If you go with a forestry mulching head I would go FAE.. Also pressure wash the belly pan after dropping oil and fluids and strap on a big fire extingusher some where.

You got a great deal on that machine. I have owned a Bobcat S-250 that I purchased new in 2005 and it has been an absolute beast.
You don’t have to change the air filters on most newer Skidsteer’s until the dummy light comes on in the accessory panel as a matter of fact they recommend that you don’t change them unless light comes on telling you to because the sediment that’s in the existing filter help in some way or another.
I could be wrong but I’m almost positive I read that somewhere.
Good luck with your machine it seems like you take good care of your equipment so that thing should run for many years to come plus it looks like it was in great condition when you got it. Tons of power and you can lift full pallets of pavers or wall stone all the way up without any tipping just go slow. One other thing everyone I see operating a skidsteere seems to always have the throttle maxed out at 2500 RPM’s which you won’t need to do unless your traveling or ripping out stumps or any other aggressive procedure. It doesn’t need the extra RPM’s to still be powerful and you will save on fuel plus it’s not always screaming in your ear which gets old quick.
    Good luck

Welcome to the Bobcat family! I have 2, a 1999 763 wheel machine I bought in 2004 and a 2016 T450 I bought for $37K with 970 hours, closed cab and AC. They are great machines. Mine are smaller than yours but my needs are filled. Welcome to the family! Working around that trailer sure made things difficult. I have several attachments. The ones I use the most are the mower deck, Land plane and the grapple rock bucket. Forks pretty much stay attached to the wheel machine and I made a square receiver hitch that bolts onto one of my smooth buckets. Moving trailers is a piece of cake. When you lower the attach dogs for the bucket, keep the bucket off the ground and slightly tilted up. This brings the bucket into full contact with the bobtach and if they are greased as they should be, the dogs easily slip into the bucket.

Hi, congrats on your Purchase. When you do your "PM (Preventive Maintenace)" Service, I Recommend
Doing a " Fluid Sample Analysis Tests ". These oil samples tests (also the engine "Coolant"), Can tell you
the condition of each oil, coolant and wear of internal parts. These " Sample Test Kits ", can be found
at a local dealer (Any equipment Dealer ie; Bobcat, Caterpillar, John Deere).
Oh! The Air filter Housing should have " Two Filters ', a " Inner / Safety Filter and " Outer Air " (@ 11:08
The Outer Air Filter Is supposed to have a Retaining / Wing nut and Gasket, to hold the outer air
    filter in).

Just wondering if the forks for the tractor fit that bobcat?? Make it nice if your not needing to spend any money. I think in your case, I would throttle down a little and push on those controls a little harder to take that jackhammer jerk out of your travel. Keep those tracks tight or you will get the experience of putting a track on a bit sooner. Its gonna happen but might wait a day or seventeen before you have to. I can raise the cab on my old skidsteer by hand.. it locks in the upright position so it don't kilt ya. Take sweet care of your windshield, its a good piece of money to replace and not as easy as the picture said it would be/lol. A pressure washer is a good friend when cleaning it up... those tracks do last a heck of a lot longer if ya keep stuff washed out but after the new wears off, it will set in the rain, never get a bath... it will be " ah, the oil was fine all this week, lets just go" an then it won't be. My landlords bobcat skidsteer is near new as in he bought it new two years ago... they had to send it out for servicing as they know less than you on anything about machinery... he gets puzzled just using his lawn mower. I might add, its battery powered and has .. well had instructions on how to but its buried under filth. The guy who took it to the shop charged them for the cleaning of his rig as it was so nasty that his deck looked like a mud bogger. As a little known fact... first oil change or anything in those years... and its used a lot by everyone who works for him in all the time he has had it... no, don't buy his shit!

I was hoping the pump would quit screeming so much after you added fluid and it should have a lot. you really need to have that looked at. i own several bobcats and they only do that if they get really low on hydro fluid. they fact that it was that low is not a good sign. it run's about 2,500 to rebuild one as i know. not including pulling the motor and cradle.
you might have a leak sucking air as that can sound that as well. There is one more filter that looks like a inline fule pump , it's about 1.5 round and 3 inches long and it's just under the hydro tank. you have to take a side plate off next to the tracks to get to it. pain in the arus. very common for that to get clogged .

You can do whatever you wish....and I know a lot of people swear that you HAVE to fill the oil filter before you put it back on. In the case of the Bobcat you have that filter drained into the oil pan (and down the side of the engine making a mess), so it's not going to be full when you start the engine. I grew up in a trucking and excavating business that at its peak had 12 dump trucks, 2 backhoes, 3 excavators, and 2 dozers. We did ALL of our own maintenance and repairs. Not once in 40 plus years of working on trucks and equipment did we ever put oil in the oil filters. We just let the engine take care of itself and we NEVER EVER had a problem with any of the engines. Fuel filter's a different story....but you can skip filling the oil filter with zero issues (except you won't make a mess!!!).

If you haven't figured out by now all your specs are on the inside of the back door. There ought to be a hand primer for the fuel and there's a bleeder on the fuel filter housing top. You have a Case setup with the bucket controls. I like that better than the foot jobs and a 250 is a fine machine. I like the track jobs a lot better than the tired ones. The tired ones make me tired. The pilot valve wobble sticks are sweet with all the moving on the left stick and the bucket stuff on the right but that's on up there with the $$$ too. And you're too much of a Tarheel to be much of a Yankee. GBWYall! And blow the big air filter out with a compressor and save it. The little one should be just fine to save as it is.

For just 35 hrs on the filter changes, I'd go ahead and use it if the oils looked clean for at least 65 hrs keeping check on the levels everyday and blow the air filters out everyday. But I know what you're saying about peace of mind.

$28k is not a lot of money for a tracked bobcat. I expect issues with used equipment. Somebody sold it because they found it economically feasible to replace that unit. You dont know what their reason is.

Excellent video Hank :) also like one drain plug hose to especially one my late Father had combine for gas motor it had cap like to but how hook garden hose fitting on screwed on with long double layer hydraulic so put oil in container or bucket and then open was tap near motor to drain oil on the bucket but we did with 20 litre pails ! Also that gas motor took 6 pints or litres of 10w30 engine oil no synthetic with oil cannister inpot type filter also grease we on farm is Moly High Temperatures Farm and Equipment grease it take cold temperatures also high hot temperatures! Hydraulic fluid like 80w90 differential fluid thick but last long time every 5 to 10 years on change plus filter too! On engine oil change in 3 months or 6 depending hours of use and on Desiel fuel filters every 6 months always!

I don't know much about bobcats just curious if the noise I am hearing during the video when you are moving forward or backwards is normal?
To me it sounds like something humming in the drive gear or the hydraulic pump.
Also curious if there are grease fittings for your tracks behind those plates?

Great buy on the skid steer it looks clean for its age . Someone must have maintained it well or not used it much.. I have a 2017 and its not as clean as that one and has 8000 hours on it ..Are the shocks bad on the cab? I can easily lift my cab up myself on my deere 320e . Also the one drive sounds noisy. Not nit picking it or anything . Maybe I'm not used to the bobcat machines
