Jon gruden has an active lawsuit with the nfl because he got caught being racist and is sueing for defamation of character. He 99.99% cannot be the OC. Stop being delusional comment section. He hasn’t coached in 5 years. We don’t need to bring in carrs 2016-7 offense. We need to replicate eagles 9ers Bengals ravens offense. Not no damn 60 year old gruden offense.

Carr in 2016 wasnt with gruden.
Watch the 2020 raiders offense, they went toe to toe with the eventual sb runner ups kc twice that season, carr had the highest qb grade for all qbs in the season the second time they faced, they missed the playoffs because that defense was worse than the 2008 detroit lions that went 0-16 In points, yards and time allowed per drive, and they still wouldve been in if mariota couldve beat the sorry chargers who carr had already destroyed.
That season carr broke the récord of wins when a defense allows 30ppg that previously belonged to brees by almost twice (5wins by brees, 8 wins by carr in 15 games).

Of the 3 “not Gruden” candidates the Saints are interviewing, I’m leaning towards Zac Robinson as the best choice.
I’m not a big fan of Waldron from Seattle.
The Bengals QB Coach May not be ready for that next step.
With Zac Robinson getting the “passing Game coordinator” title from McVay this season, it feels like McVay was grooming him to get an OC job.
Carr worked well with Gruden, McVay is a lot like Gruden, if McVay was grooming Zac, him and Carr will be on the same page.
Also, Zac Robinson was drafted at QB by the Patriots, so he also understands that offense, as does Carr, & from things Carr said, I think he thought he could incorporate some concepts he liked from the Patriots offense into the WC offense, that currently don’t exist.
That could lead to some “Offensive Innovation” if Carr and Zac Robinson can work well together?
I can make an argument either way for the Saints hiring Gruden.
    The Pro’s,
He can hit the ground running with Carr.
Gruden knows offense & how to call plays, when he came back, it took him a year, but he got caught back up to where the league is.
Gruden has enough personality & “Swag” to make up for what Dennis Allen is missing.
If he does well, the Saints won’t have to worry about him being hired away as a Head Coach, because most teams wouldn’t touch him.
    Cons
Media & Fan scrutiny over the hire.
He could walk all over and undermine Dennis Allen.
Will he be able to accept not being the Head Coach?
He can be too conservative at times.
    The League may object.

I just Googled that. Shanahan also coached under George Seifert (San Francisco) from 1992-1995 and ran the west coast offense. My apologies I looked up the Bill Walsh coaching tree there was his picture listed under Seifert but when I Googled him under his bio it listed that he got his start under Dan Reeves not Tom Landry. He also blended both offenses, with spread principles while coaching RG3.

Shane Waldron seems like the most obvious OC, he has experience, from the Mcvay tree, relatively young, could potentially be next HC, and also got the most out of Geno Smith. Like in what world before these last two years would you have thought Geno Smith is a better QB than DC, so hey if he get that out of GS who’s to say he couldn’t do the same for DC plus we have a much better way much better offensive talent than Seahawks. Still not confident bc we have a clown of a HC and sort of clown of a GM but Mickey you make the right move gotta give props but if you don’t man Sean Payton and Drew Bree’s carried yo old sorry ass lol

I agree. He’s somebody Ive had my eye on since early in the season. I love how he utilizes his personnel and I would love to see what he could come up with with a weapon like Taysom. He’s got this dope backfield set with two tight ends split out in like the h-back spot with the RB in the pistol with multiple variations and motions. Whoever comes in though MUST, and I mean MUST, utilize Taysom lined up at fullback or H-back. We can line this man up virtually anywhere on offense and we need to take advantage of that versatility

Give me Waldron and Taysom makes the pro bowl. Line that man up at fullback or H-back and you can motion him anywhere on the line. My head is spinning thinking about all the ways Hill can wreak havoc on a defense presnap.

    Assistant coaching stints
    edit
Shanahan first served as a receivers coach and later offensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos under Dan Reeves from 1984 to 1987. This firmly places Mike Shanahan on the Tom Landry tree of coaching, as Dan Reeves was one of Landry's greatest disciples. It was his skill as an offensive mind that garnered Shanahan the attention of maverick Los Angeles Raiders owner Al Davis. After Shanahan and the Raiders parted ways four games into the 1989 season, Shanahan returned to the Broncos as quarterbacks coach on October 16, 1989.[5] He was fired a couple years later by Reeves after finding himself in the middle of a growing feud between Reeves and quarterback John Elway.[6]
In 1992, Shanahan was hired as offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers under head coach George Seifert, capping his rise with a victory in Super Bowl XXIX after the 1994 season. His years under Seifert placed him in the Bill Walsh coaching tree.[11] In 1994 while coaching for the 49ers, Shanahan added to the ongoing feud between him and Raiders owner Al Davis when he had then quarterback Elvis Grbac throw a football at Davis' head, which missed by a few inches as Davis was able to dodge it just in time; afterwards Davis responded with an obscene gesture.[

I'd also be intrigued by guys who are the right-hand man of top college offensive minds. Is there someone on Sark or Lane Kiffin or Lincoln Reilly's staff who is ready for the next step? Joey Halzle of Tennessee who coached up Hendon Hooker might be a good one.

Thanks for keeping it positive, I'm feeling better about the Saints outlook once I accepted it's being controlled by a big Babycake. It could be a good gig for a new OC. Someone that either could become the head coach for the Saints, or who could hone their skills in total control of an offense, while not having the pressure of being the Head Coach. I like the candidates also, but after your assessment I would prefer Pitcher based on who he's been around.
