As retired military I can assure you "thumping" or "bumping" is the friendliest way an interceptor pilots says "get out of my airspace" before engaging the targeting radar.

The Philippines have ZERO claim on the Spratly Islands.
Other countries, like _Vietnam,_ can claim historical ownership. But not the Philippines. For the simple reason that the Philippines as a country was formed by way of treaty between two other countries. And those treaties very clearly define the limits of Philippines territory.
And the icing on the cake is that the Philippines constitution acknowledges those treaties.

@krisg822 tell me when they haven't? It literally happens all the time. We don't make a big deal about it, because we could splash them in the blink of an eye if we wanted to. We don't, because they can't get anything of value by hanging out off the coast, and they won't violate our airspace because we'd smoke them and add their plane to our collection.

Then America holds a full scale simulated invasion of Jamaica. And puts it in our official foreign policy that Jamaica is a rogue breakaway state that will be brought into the United States. Then Jamaica goes to China and asks them repeatedly for help defending Jamaica against the clearly impending invasion of US forces.
