- Alejandro Escovedo with special guest David Hidalgo of Los Lobos performing Neil Young's classic "Like a Hurricane" at Knuckleheads Saloon in Kansas City, Missouri on June 29th, 2013. Alejandro opened the show, followed by Los Lonely Boys and headliner Los Lobos.
By the way, the stage is actually pretty large, but it was crowded with the equipment for all three bands when the show started, both to minimize the time of set changes and to enable all three bands to jam like this.
You know without a shadow of a doubt... When David Hildalgo walks on stage with Alejandro Escovedo, things about to break on down to hitting the nail on the head!! Dead on the one!
I have had the distinct privilege of meeting Mr. Hidalgo in Tokyo and then seeing him in Cincinnati twice afterwards. Backstage each time, hung out after show for a couple hours. I was a nobody enthusiastic fan. He and Los Lobos not only artists but first-class humans. Love Alejandro, seen him about 5 times, and intro' to Jesse Malin thanks to Alejandro.
Just great playing and musicianship - thx!
Thanks for sharing this beauty with us mere mortals. UA-cam may be the greatest thing ever conceived for us music lovers. These boys crushed it!
I've met David three times, once in Tokyo and twice in Cincinnati, Beautiful and gracious man, not to mention his outstanding musical skills. Have seen Alejandro 5 times. Cut from the same cloth, National Treasures,
I'll have more from this show when I finish editing it. It was truly epic.
Oh HELL yes, please!
Nine years later I thank you for this!
Thanks!
Again, Alejandro ' s choices of covers add so much to my respect for him as a performer..
I was privileged to have been standing just off the right side of the stage that night. It was brilliant.
yes DUANE I noticed, you were in the way of the cameraman
Wow what gift, these musicians, this song. Thanks!!!!!
The first time I saw Alejandro at the Kessler in Dallas he played my favorite Neil Young song at the end of his set. Awesome. I had seem a few times since then and he hadn't played it. Then, back at the Kessler a while back he was performing backed by an Italian band 'Don Antonio'. I was so stoked when they ended the encore with this. What a kick in the head!
Yeah I saw that show at Knuckleheads last year.
No words can describe this awesome performance!
That,,, ladies and gentlemen is how it's done.
This is the best thing I have heard in a long time
Being in the crowd for an Alejandro Escovedo performance is akin to a religious experience. TRY it!!!
Stumbled upon this, and, I'm like, OMG!!!
My younger son and I had the privilege of seeing Alejandro, LLB and Los Lobos in Saratoga CA last summer but there was not enough time for this long song. Gracias for posting this.
Thanks 🙏
I saw this in Cincinnati around the same time. Los Lobos opened for Escovedo
With all do respect to Alejandro but "opening" for Los Lobos? I am a diehard fan of Mr. Escovedo but, but in my opinion, Los Lobos and especially David Hidalgo are top billing
That was awesome!
Viva Alejandro y Caballo Loco!🤘
Love it.! Great weather, energy, enthusiasm for K.C. Best show EVER.
Is Alejandro playing a Sears Silvertone Guitar. Thats freakin awesome!!!
Love THIS!!!
and I thank you.
Freaking Awesome
What a line up!
Wow, what a gig...
Great video! Bryan and I (the taper and his grey-haired bearded friend to your right) were amazed with your constant tweaking and adjusting of equipment throughout the night, and the results speak for themselves. This is the first video of a show I've seen where the video is better than my memories! We'll be looking forward to more clips, especially when you get to the Los Lobos set.
F*** yeah
Thanks for posting this, and for even the hint of more to come. I heard numerous old school folks say best LL ever. AE = Amazing
Superior. Have to listen to this rendition EVERYTIME I get on You Tube.
Brilliant!!!
saw these guys with the LLB, too in AC, NJ (13).......brilliant show!!
Quite jazzed to be seeing Alejandro and THe Minus Five tonight in Athens. Heroes a-plenty to be taking the stage and a good show is just what this old chunk 'o coal needs right about now.
Fantastic.

Great cover.
God damn.
Great stuff! I wonder who the guitarist on my right is, the one with the "Night of the Vampire" shirt.
Lucas Hubbard. Ray Wylie Hubbard's son.
That’s Ricky Ray Jackson. He plays with Steve Earle now.
what is the name of this cd and are los lobos included in the escovedo concert, damn, goodddddd...
This was never an official video, or CD release. Honestly, I think it was just something they worked up for this particular show.
I really love Alejandro's Neil Young guitar impression. It might be even better than the orig solo!
Do you have a setlist?
Thank you. The joke I tell people is that I've discovered a business model for ADHD.
ESPESOR
I'm back to editing the show right now.
Is it Todd Snider on the right in the vampire rebirth?
Tshirt, not rebirth
was it?
It’s Ricky Ray Jackson

Sorry about the format on the setlists. UA-cam must not like carriage returns...
No offense but Alejandro Escovedo should have headlined the show
He has headlined numerous shows at Knuckleheads. And there are some advantages to opening for a bigger name, mainly to build your own audience. I can assure you, there were plenty of people who came there for _Los Lobos_ who left as huge Alejandro fans.
@@MidWestConcertVideo2 No doubt. I heard a comment by Jerry Riopelle who would sell out Phoenix AZ in a heartbeat. He said he could sell out SoCal, the Pacific Northwest and Phoenix, but couldn't get arrested any place else. The vagaries of the music business. I was hooked on Alejandro the first time I caught him on Austin City limits with David Pulkingham
He's had so much experience with the ups and downs of the music business. Remember that his band _The Nuns_ opened for the final show by the _Sex Pistols._
