    I'm not a dad myself, but I am a Favourite Uncle and so I do take my two nieces in my car from time to time and they're getting to the age where the potential for taking turns being in the front is a potential option, and carrying someone else's Precious Cargo is almost as daunting as carrying your own so having this advice is invaluable, even if it's just helping to know where to look and what to look for. I'm lucky my car's rear seats are fully equipped with IsoFix and top tethers with child seats that fit nicely and the confidence of the parents but expert advice is always reassuring.
    Great stuff with Masserati as well, fair play to them for taking you seriously, it would be easy for a manufacturer to dismiss a query about a 20 year old vehicle.

    Super informative and never realised it was such a grey area. It’s not usually something you check when making a purchase but now it’s going to be something to keep in mind, especially when little one grows up and starts wanting to ride up front with daddy!

      @@dadcars Very. An important point here is as a single parent with no helper, I have my 3 year old sat in the back seat for long journeys due to circumstances out of my control. I am responsible for her safety but can't see what she's doing. eg undoing the child seat belt. So, in my view it would be safer for her to be next to me. I've found no useful information on this situation so far.....

    This was EXCACLY the information I was looking for! Thank you. I recently purchased a used Bmw E61 525d manual, instead of a minibus in hope to have a car for the family that is both safe, practical and a bit of fun. I found it was a bit cramp in the back with two rearfacing childseats in the back. It works but I was therefore pondering if it was safe to put one seat in the front which if possible. As a petrolhead who wants to have safety for the family and if possible a bit of fun at the same time, these kind of information is so valuable. Really grateful for your channel Ben!
    The information that I found is that it is still gerenally best to put the seats in the back, which I will, but if the time comes to have a third child, then I know I can put the third one in the front seat, accordingly to my cars manual and using a rearfacing seat the fits.

    I don’t know why, but most VAG cars even from the 00’s have front isofix. Really helpful information here!

    Brilliant video, good to learn more about the differences between cars. I have regularly put my 5 year old in the front seat of our GranSport. You had me worried there at the start of your video 😆

    What is more worrying is the distraction of a small child in a rear facing seat in the front passenger seat. The amount of times I have seen young mums distracted by their baby and nearly having accidents. When ever possible, back is safest.

    I have a 2003 Ford ranger, which has jump seats in the back which do have lap belts. If I had to carry a baby in a carseat, would it be better to place the carrier into the front passenger (airbags off, obviously) or is there a way to place them in the folding jumpseat that is safer?

    Can you show how your children climb into the Axkid and how you buckle them in? That would be very interesting and helpful 😊

    Are you aware of any car seats that work with bucket seats? I'm thinking Lotus Elise/Exige.
    I want a S2 Exige... but have to pick do a couple nursery pick ups per week.... I don't want a couple 5 minute drives to limit me to a 2x2.

    • @dadcars
      @dadcars  2 місяці тому

      A bucket seat with a normal seatbelt yes I’m sure something can work… a 4 point harness however I haven’t yet seen a way to do that

    Kids aren’t allowed in front seats ever in Canada.
    It makes sense but it does entirely remove certain vehicle options.

    • @dadcars

      I didn’t know that!

      It seems that it would be legal in Ontario, so long as there is no airbag or if it is turned off.

    • @mynameIan
      @mynameIan 2 місяці тому

      @@AmosDohms ah I thought it was Canada wide, having driven a lot in Ontario, I’ve never seen a child in the front seat.
      It’s certainly illegal in Quebec.
      According to Transport Canada, 13 and older can sit in the front in most provinces.

    • @AmosDohms
      @AmosDohms 2 місяці тому

      @@mynameIan I don't really see kids younger then 11 or 12 in the front seat, but it is technically legal.

      @@AmosDohms so both of us in Canada are getting our real life car video fixes from UK content.
      I don’t know about you, but a while ago I unsubscribed from all the North American content. Throttle House, Straight Pipes, Savage Geese, Alex on Autos, Redline, TFL, the list goes on. It’s all, generally, generic stuff showing off new SUVs.
      It’s not for true enthusiasts. It’s more for average consumers that bounce from leasing one dull SUV to another.

    The back is the safest place for kids. My oldest is 11 and she rides in a high back booster seat in the back seat every time we are in the car!

      @user_rd3co1sk1h Well she's rear facing at the moment and loving it. Her new mummy surprised your beautiful little girl with the 5 point harness rear facing car seat and she was so excited about travelling in it for the first time she couldn't wait to be safely buckled in. And she's nearly 6 years of age now. No please don't wake her up i just got saffie off to sleep.
