    From someone dealing with a hard clutch pull right now on a yz250, I appreciate this video. Definitely gunna order this up. I’ve also done a new cable and I oil it frequently. I did the basket first as you did lol.

      It helps! It’s funny, I’m on a yz250fx sometimes now and it’s the easiest pull ever. Still a cable clutch in 2024.

    Came across this video on my hunt for an easier clutch pull. Purchased a new 450FX this last spring and been riding some very technical single tracks. This was a compromise type purchase as I sold a CRF450 and a KTM 300 to get one bike to do it all. But lately after each ride I am getting some serious joint and hand pain. So the time has come. I appreciate the time you took to log the differences. Been looking at ASV lever/perch, clutch springs and going hydro. Definitely an investment. Just wanted to say thanks for the content!

      You bet! I wouldn’t be afraid to yank a couple springs out of the clutch pack and see how it goes (unless it has like 4 springs already). That might sound like sacrilege to some though. People do it on YZ250s but they’re very secretive about it. 😂 even if it led to more clutch wear, it’s such a cheap and easy replacement. I’m fool of terrible ideas though. 😆

    I'm getting pretty serious arm pump from my TE510. Might be time to start looking for any alternative springs and a new lever because -20% sounds fantastic to me.

    This was an awesome test with really interesting results. I think you should go back and do the same test with the just the protaper lever, and then just the new springs and see which modification is truly making a difference, or if they are both decreasing the pull by 10%.

  • @nvmcrider8475
    @nvmcrider8475 4 роки тому +1

    Did you have any issues getting the yz clutch cable into the pro taper lever? I tried this once with a different after market brand and it didn't fit. Having the metal quick adjuster is definitely way better than the rubber Yamaha stock adjuster. You could also put in 2 or 3 125 springs if you still want a softer pull, would be interesting to see how soft you can go before slipping becomes an issue. I put in 3 wr250f springs on my wr450f and it really helped with now slipping issues. Looking forward to seeing how your bike performs.

    • @PlushEnduro
      @PlushEnduro  4 роки тому

      There’s an Aussie who does extreme enduro stuff who’s on UA-cam here who runs 4 YZ springs and says he has no slipping. Given how good he is I kinda believe him.

  • @MitchOfCanada
    @MitchOfCanada 4 роки тому

    did ya lube the cable? they are easier than hydro when lubed properly and all pivot points are cleaned of grit and re-lubed.
    DO NOT USE YZ250X SPRINGS - just roasted a set today doing hard enduro on yz250x 2017. Stock YZ are back in, had to install on the trail.

    • @Flip2theOzz
      @Flip2theOzz 3 роки тому

      There are 2 pivot points: first is on the lever (where almost no dust is found), the other is where the cable is attached, just at the spring., wich is cleaned every time you ride. With a new cable installed, the pull is the same and I believe it's hard. I can drive my 1090R double as long without arm fatige. If I misunderstood you, please point out where I should clean en lube, thanks!

    • @PlushEnduro
      @PlushEnduro  4 роки тому +1

      Great question. Brand new cable and freshly lubed. Total cost for the springs and bolts was $29 the Profile Clutch assembly was 62.99 so roughly $91 total while the Magura can be had for about $250.

    • @Distracted_driving_kills

      Hydro clutch is overrated and overpriced at about $250. Search "easy clutch adapter" on ebay. Gives same effect for under $20.
