I have adjusted the cable on my vintage 1971 Kawasaki Trail Boss 100 (3300 original miles) but it still doesn't disengage the clutch when putting it in gear? Your video mentioned other parts that might need replacing? Any guesses as to my problem? Thanks!
I'm not sure what you mean but brake and clutch cables are different. We have a video showing how to install brake lines that I'll post a link to below: ua-cam.com/video/lbaiMiEZq5I/v-deo.html
I've replaced my cable with a motion pro and routed it In factory position and when bars are to the left no free play bars to the right alot ot free play
I have a old Chinese bike not sure what routing should be done. Was replaced before but porly and I feel like that’s Not the right way to rout it. Clutch still isn’t fitting it’s hot out and I’m grumpy 😅
Castaways_fishing that’s just the clutch being too tight but it is ok, you might want to make it a little more slack, until you can shift it into gear and not stall
Mine is on the side like mentioned. Is there a reason behind doing below first, lever last? I ask because that's how you explained. Just wanted to be sure
Adjusting the clutch side first allows you to make bigger adjustments so that you can do your fine tuning on the lever side to get the correct free play and to make future adjustments when components wear.
My clutch cable snapped a few days ago, I’m waiting on a new one but when I pull in the where the clutch cable attaches to it doesn’t actually engage the clutch. Should I be concerned?
Are you talking about the actuating arm that's on the engine? If the clutch worked before the cable broke, it should work again as soon as you get the new cable on. ua-cam.com/video/9s8FqEBONlk/v-deo.html -Charles
I have a question, my clutch hangs freely, like if I pull it in it stays and I have to manually push it out, and the clutch just doesn’t work itself, what could be the problem?
what if the new cable is still too tight on the loosest setting on the adjuster by the engine and by the clutch lever? i bought the same cable for my model bike
@@ghostlystatue7933 I just took out the inner ring by the adjuster by the clutch lever which gave me a few extra mm to work with. Then tightened it all the way then adjusted it by the engine. If that makes any sense
This does not work. I tried it my bike, and it does not turn whatsoever to even get to it and for the break that’s already set up for it. It doesn’t pull out.
My new bike came with clutch drag. It seems pretty normal. New plates could get rid of it though. I heard roughing up surfaces of the plain plates helps them hold oil and reduces clutch drag.

That’s what I’m saying EVERY single tutorial I watch at some point has some magic tool or something that you “need” then I gotta figure out a way to do it by myself😂
Thank you, I’ve already forgotten what I have to do.
Got to watch while you do it
i use the old cable to pull the new one thru, leaving the tank on
this was lot easier than it looks and i didnt have to remove the tank
Same
Very well explained ! Good quality video, thanks for the tips !
Thanks man. Cheers from BC, Vancouver
@604Beats Deltaaaaaaaaaa

You're welcome! 👍
Awesome video you earned more than 2,5k vieuws.
Do you have to lube it? I don't have oil for that wd40 works for that or not?

WD40 isn’t lube
What clutch cable do I need for a trailmaster tm31x 250cc?

Great explanation
I am just trying to see if there is a difference between a brake and clutch cable

Well im in deep shit I ordered a clutch cable thinking it was a brake cable for $30
I've replaced my cable with a motion pro and routed it In factory position and when bars are to the left no free play bars to the right alot ot free play
Ryan Wojciechowicz you might have routed it wrong
when should i change my clutch cable??
aside from it is broken of course
Before it breaks better than after.
Is it normal for my clutch lever to be loose (bout an inch) until i pull it in? First time fixing a bike!
That’s just adjustment mate
You might have to tighten it up a little bit
@@alexchapman4747 Yep tightening it up sure did the trick. Thanks
how important is it to lube up your cable, i dont want to take it all apart again.
Just put mine in a while
Ago but it’s way harder to pull compared to when I had it before

I got a cr 250 and when I put it in first gear it stalls with the clutch in

@@rmatvmc oh yeah, i had planned on putting it on* that way first..
how do i know what kind of measurements to have on the cable?
What are the tools I need? I'm going to the store today or tomorrow so I can connect my clutch myself.
We show the tools we used to complete this job at 1:20 in this video.

My clutch lever is not engaging the clutch even though the cable is moving, help
are some cables pre lubed by factory?
I have a question, my clutch hangs freely, like if I pull it in it stays and I have to manually push it out, and the clutch just doesn’t work itself, what could be the problem?
I would assume you have springs installed in the clutch basket, so maybe your rod isn't in correctly or have no rod at all?
What happens if it doesnt help
My rm85 clutch cable was super easy I didn't even need tools

When I pull in my clutch on my kx125 in 1st gear u can't push it but when it's running it's fine
normal when engine is cold
dayne washere need new clutch plates man

It’s because it’s a wet clutch and the motor got to be running for the clutch to engage

What's a clutch cable? Talk about living with old tech.
It controls the engagement of the clutch without leaking fluid or air bubbles impacting it.
