I loved that ps5 fix. Basically everything you tried was important in some way and all the components you checked had some form of issue. Great that the chat ended up being the reason it was fixed as well.
I’m a noobie with electronics and I absolutely love fault finding! Doesn’t matter what it is, from a circuit board to a set of coffee scales. Your determination is fantastic. Sooo enjoyable to watch. Well done today
No school will make up for experiences and this whole journey have made you such a better tech. Each repair is a roller coaster ride and I’m hooked on every repairs. I’m just an ordinary person that has no knowledge of electronics repair but just love you.
No, but school would literally teach you how circuits works so he would spend less time doing brainless measuring with doner board. Instead he could just look up that chip in area and doing some thinking how it behave in circuit. Then he would easily find out perhaps it's output is not switching on and save many endless days without success.
Just FYI. If you watch really close at 15:00, right before the HDMI IC comes off the donor, you can see it crack. You notice the notch at about 18:36, but you don't notice the crack. You can see the crack in all the microscope video afterward, but you can see it the clearest starting at 20:22 when replacing the resistor, and especially when checking and replacing the filters.
Watching your videos really makes me want to dabble in electronic repair. This is definitely right up my alley. I find this type of work very calming. Keep up the great work!
Amazing work, sir! That PS five repair was pretty awesome! And I’ve learned quite a bit. I have a PS five with no display in my basement and my initials look was HDMI port looked just fine.
I have been watching you for some time and i just realised you only have 40k subscribers. I normally dont ever subscribe to someone but your videos are actually interesting and high quality. I watch you on a daily basis. +1sub
Love the way you let us know what you're using as you go. From the tools, to model of heating station, right down to the type of flux. Great explanations of your thought processes also. Also love the quality and tidiness of your pcb work. Unlike a lot of console repairers I have seen on youtube, I would feel confident purchasing something you have repaired. Am now subscribed. 😊👍 Apple crumble. Lol
I've done a couple of these HDMI ports and use a low melt solder on the anchor points which helps a lot. Low melt can be expensive and some sellers will tell you it's low melt when it's not so you gotta be careful where you buy from..
This was a nice ride, but the man of the repair was @ToltecMerc, if he was the guy who suggested to change the last piece of the puzzle!!!! He is one of the greatest guy on youtube who does console repair. He is a spring of knowledge!!! Nice job! Keep it going
Yes, I got to the apple crumble (how to I redeem it?). Nice repair. I would say that if you are doing a given machine often enough, perhaps it is worth the time to learn a little more in depth how they work, particularly in knowing a few more points to check to see what is going on. Obviously the fault reader is a big step in the right direction, keeps you focused on a goal rather than grazing aimlessly looking for burned components! Overall a great result today, that is for sure.
Hey Joey, been watching your channel for the last 6months or so, absolutely love it. I'm really curious about the NDS you have disassembled on your wall that's framed? do you have a picture of it i can look at? looks really cool!
Amazing job on the fixes Joey I have a Dual Sense Edge controller my brother broke that he wants me to try fixing and I don't have the microscope or the knowledge to fully try figuring it out wish i could make it a video for you but sadly i live in the states. Keep up the amazing work really enjoy the videos!
amazing fix on the ps5! Seriously incredible. I just bought your flux, seems really good! and the screwdriver kit I have is amazing. Amazing video joey!! How do I become a member of the channel? 😅
On the PlayStation five that you worked normally that little chip that you replaced a capacitor, normally shorts out on that chip rail which will give you readings of a partial short
Brilliant video, very enjoyable and just shows how giving up is not an option,do you factor in labour when you calculate profit?I'm new to your channel so may have missed that bit.
Thanks! I don’t factor in the labour because a lot of the time I’m explaining things to the camera which in turn adds more time. Hope that makes sense :)
Instead of just adding leaded solder to lower the melting point of the factory solder they actually sell super low temp solder. It works great if you melt it into the anchors and alloy it with the factory stuff.
Hi Joey amazing video as always, I've noticed your mic in this episode sounds like it's underwater at times. Just may be my opinion but you may need a new mic soon. Not a major issue just thought I'd suggest it
Another great video, love the series. @JoeyDoesTech which of the Stirri flux's would you recommend for soldering iron work on gameboys and other retro consoles (not hot air work, just soldering). Would the Stirri V3 TF be best? I am done with cheap rubbish flux from AliExpress and want something decent. Can you also recommend some leaded solder in the UK?
Hi Simon! If it's retro consoles, usually because the boards are a bit thinner I would recommend the V3-TF as you'll be using a soldering iron with a low temperature. As for solder, I usually opt for a 60/39 mix :)

The best fixes are where you learn something new! Chat has the brains though 😂

12:17 such charisma is very much appreciated 😂 "season with a bit of salt and pepper"
I just realized you only had 40k subscribers Joey, figured you had at least 400k. Always quality content, the Ramsay impression was top notch.
At least 400k?! I love your mentality :) Thank you!
Apple crumble my friend. That was wild. What you might have lost in labor costs you certainly made up in knowledge that you can use on the next board!

Apple crumble - You've got me seriously considering console repair as a side hustle. Such a rewarding adventure you portray.
The adventure is rewarding when the fixes come about, but it can be a very bad way to make money >.

So funny when you forget to plug the console up😂

Your community is amazing!
Apple crumble Job well done, keep up the good work.
Hi Joey amazing video as always, I've noticed your mic in this episode sounds like it's underwater at times. Just may be my opinion but you may need a new mic soon. Not a major issue just thought I'd suggest it
