The alternative rock scene was huge during the late 90's - early 2000's. I had no idea as a young man at the time just how much I'd miss that era. 95% of today's chart music is hip hop/R&B with a little recycled house and other sounds thrown in. You can listen to the chart music on the radio for two hours today and you'd be lucky to remember more than two songs.
I was born in the 80's myself and, like you, remember when the charts both meant something and contained a mix of memorable tracks and styles. The charts nowadays are largely made up of complete and utter rubbish that you'll both not care about and forget about almost instantly (bar a very select few artists). Computer generated music and vocals seem to be the biggest seller nowadays. People that can't sing making music and making money from it somehow. Sadly that alternative rock scene seems a distant memory which is very sad.
I remember watching Feeder at the caird hall when hell is for hero’s supported them. Miss those days, So many amazing pieces of music that meant something written back then. Makes me glad to be born in the 80’s like yourselves 😃
I was born in 1990 and I totally agree. Pop music now is all the same. Completely indistinguishable from each other. But luckily, history repeats itself so here's hoping that we get a resurgence of people who actually play guitars instead of pushing buttons on a Mac.
Being in the U.S. I had only ever heard one of their songs, 'Buck Rogers'. I heard it 20 years ago on the movie 'Behind Enemy Lines'. I loved it then, but never researched who the band was until today. I feel like I have been robbed of 30 years of great music, after listening to them all day!
Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington may not talk anymore but they’ve had a profound impact on my life. I’m thankful for all their XFM shows and podcasts, and thankful that they introduced me to this masterpiece
I heard/read a recent interview with Steve where he said Karl was recently in LA (where steve now lives) and they hung out together. I think the three of them are still friends, they just don’t work together anymore for the moment. I’m with you though; they’ve had a huge impact on me as well. :)
This song makes me miss the UK. I moved to the US 2 years ago, and as much as I love it here...it's just not the same. Take me back to 2006, for the music and atmosphere. Before all the stupid political BS
is a track about the ups and downs of a relationship, and the emotional rollercoaster that can come with it. The lyrics describe a feeling of being torn in two and watching moments slip away too soon. The chorus expresses a sense of being lost and searching for a way out, with the hope that one touch from the other person could bring the narrator back around. The title of the song, "Just the Way I’m Feeling," suggests that the narrator's emotions are simply a part of who they are, and not something that can easily be changed or fixed. The bridge touches on the theme of communication, or lack thereof, in a relationship. The two people involved have different views and can't seem to find a way to break through the confusion. Overall, "Just the Way I’m Feeling" is a poignant and relatable song about the complexities of love and the struggles of maintaining a strong connection with another person.
I saw feeder live at deva fest in cheshire on Sunday 13th! they were brilliant! I will never forget that day, especially because it was my first festival and I will never forget this song. so emotional and the lyrics are meaningful. grant Nicholas is an amazing songwriter and the band is my favorite band. talented guitarists, amazing songwriter with an amazing voice, and a talented drummer. what more could you ask for?
When ever your down turn to music it will eventually get you back to norm been rock bottom a few times in my life but playing tracks that take you back in life to different places and times gives you deep thoughts but never overthink things as over thinking is what brings you down in first place keep busy stay happy
This song represents the melancholy of my generation that transcends politics or anything, just a bunch of angsty teens who are now in their 30s still trying to figure out if life gets better
Unbelievable song! I remember listening to this as a wee girl on one of my cd's and wasn't overly kean on it then heard it on the radio the other day and now I'm addicted.
This uses stock footage from a 1968 public information film called “Don’t Let Him Die”. It’s up on UA-cam. It’s really clever how it was used here. Listened to Comfort In Sound on the train again, still a fantastic album almost 20 years on.
My first introduction to this band. What a beautiful rock ballad. It makes me nostalgic for the early 2000s and MTV2, Kerrang. Plus the weird anime album artwork for "Comfort in Sound" and this single made me happy! Music video reminds me for some reason of Doves' "Pounding."
Ok I’m 47 and thought stuff like this when it came out was rubbish. I was wrong. London was magic around this time and the music like this was more than sublime...
I hope this song isn’t forgotten because it’s just so good and I’ve tried to revive it by doing a much quieter chilled cover of it but honestly, this over drivers license any day
The “yeah yeah, it’s just the way I’m feeling” part was used by a tv network here in NZ but they used it like it was a happy song to promote the channel, which is weird since it’s a song about depression. I remember liking the song back in the day but it wasn’t as popular as Come Back Around for some reason.
Whenever I can't take anymore, I'm diagnosed as depressed, medically by the way. This song reminds why life is worth living. I nearly committed suicide when I was 19, if I had succeeded I wouldn't have had my beautiful daughter who transformed me. She's 18 now! Please don't give up, we're just sensitive souls and we feel all the pain and suffering in the world. We're gonna be OK. ❤❤❤
Love this Song! On a Concert of U2, as a special guest there where two bands, Ash and Feeder. Feeder was amazing , they have sooo many songs i really love! Greetings from Zurich 🙂
I came across this song many years ago in a record store in Hackney. The song was playing in the store so I asked the guy behind the counter who the band was, and he just pointed to a cardboard cut-out next to te entrance. Apparently, they were scheduled to do a in-store show later that evening, signing records and playing an acoustic set. I figured I'd go given that it was free of charge and I had no plans. I bought their record off the bloke behind the counter and went home to give it a spin. I came back to the store later that evening, but the store was dark and no one else was there, safe to say there was no event of any kind being underway in this store that night. Suddenly, I see the guy I bought the record from earlier that day inside the store, so I wave to try and figure out what's going on, but he just stood there, looking at me, slightly confused. After a few seconds, I start noticing that this fella is quite short, and quite hairy. Turns out...
Wrote for their drummer who took his own life. If anyone has depression there is a huge Playlist i have put together of other peoples videos and experts talking about depression, they are in the 'Playlist' part of my channel, hope its useful to people. Depression is something I know about too, its the worst

They are these days, back in the day they were massive, but since Comfort in Sound, the band has declined massively in popularity
