The Dave Clark Five, Glad all over, true stereo mix

- Stereo mix, clean, different in so many ways then the mono we got in the USA. The echo on Mikes voice at the bridge is much longer spread out, the detail in Daves work is so clean this could have been recorded yesterday.
Those were the days !!. No music like music from the 60's !!
One of the best all time R&R songs.
Energy...harsh vocals...catchy melody...and great instrumentation! The Dave Clark 5. Damn, how great were they!
When I was in 8th grade, we had dances in the gym after school. This was a fave of mine, because we'd stomp our feet in unison to the drum rolls, rocking the gym with the huge "sound"! Great percussion.
Beatles & Dave Clark Five....my favourite British bands. The 60`s rock!!!!
Agreed
WE WANT THE ENTIRE DAVE CLARK FIVE CATALOG ON SPOTIFY!!!
Who's with me on this???
Ray Jackson
Me and I'm only 40!
Que rayos?!
Me and I'm Only 51! 😜
Hello. Checking in from the year 2020. It's all there now. Albeit in Mono, but all there.
Recorded 1963; Released December 1963

Awesome group loved them as a kid still do now
My favorite band from back then and one of the first songs I ever bought, a 45 from KMart.
I must admit it does sound a hell of a lot better then the MONO version
Mike Smith is one of the finest Rock n' Roll singers I have ever heard. I still listen to The DC5's records.✌
damn they were good. self taught/wrote this song/and tight as a group. why can't anybody write music this good today?????
God bless Mike Smith his voice his greatly missed
100% agreed!
I loved the Dave Clark Five! Back in 1964 or 66 I believe!🎤🎼😊

Glad all over to have lived in their era
"Glad all over to have lived in their era"?
That implies that you were glad to have lived in the era that immediately followed...
Can it be over 50 years? Mike Smith was a vocal genius. Much missed. DC5 rules!
For the period in which this song was recorded this was a very bold sound! Truly a production masterpiece!
thecoolmans.simplesite.com My DC5 website
Wow! I've always likes this one!
a song that's 51 years old but timeless
A big thumbs up. These words are worth being slammed, banged, and rammed into the minds of others. Hahahahaha . . . yours and mine.
On this date in 1964 {Feb. 15th} "Glad All Over" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100; eventually it would peak at #6 and spent 14 weeks in the Top 100
Ranked No. 24 on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 Singles of 1964 chart
This was the group's debut on the U.S. charts; they had 24 records make the Top 100, 8 make the Top 10, and one No. 1 {"Over and Over"}
Reached #1 on the U.K. Singles chart, #1 in Ireland, #3 in Australia, #2 in Canada, and #4 in the Netherlands...
This stereo version is a quantum leap sonically over the mono one. And I can say the same about all of the old Beatles recordings as well, in spite of the sometimes radical "hard right/hard left" imaging. Thanks for uploading this!
Thanks for posting this song. As I get over, it nice to re-visit my youth thru a song.
always time for a good stamping session with The Dave Clark Five! floor shakers
I was feeling crappy. I'm much better now. Thanx!
+Lorenzo Boyd This song Rocks.
love Dave Clark five
It different because most everything got a second layer as the original mono was dubbed, expanded, & spread to make the 2 track stereo master.
Listens closely, & you will notice that the original mono mix has content that while still present n this version is different -sax. During mono mastering the studio musicians (w/some members of the group) played along w/tape as mono was finalized & these additions were never recorded. i.e.,Bits and Pieces Stomp was added live in mono. Missing in stereo
This is so great.
i was born a decade after this and i should say that my favourite band are the Beatles. The Dave Clark Five was also a great band and Glad all over is a catchy tune.
these guys were as big as the beatles back in the day !! the DC 5
For a while there, I think they might have actually been bigger.
On this day in 1964 {March 8th} the Dave Clark Five performed "Glad All Over" on the CBS-TV program 'The Ed Sullivan Show'
One month earlier on February 15th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #6 and spent 14 weeks on the Top 100
This appearance was their first of 13 on the 'Sullivan' show
Mike Smith, the group's lead singer & keyboardist, passed away on February 28th, 2008 at the age of 64 {pneumonia}
R.I.P. Mr. Smith and Mr. Sullivan {1929 - 2012}
This song motivated me to start drumming 50 years ago - on a set of Ludwigs! Dave, thanks.
The dudes from Tottenham knock those lyrical Liverpudlian lads off their throne - awesome sound - thanks! Cheers, '62 Mathew St. (Total Retro Rock)
Maybe the DC5 had that chance against The Beatles, but last time I checked the UEFA Champions League Final held a couple of weeks ago over in Madrid:
Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham
Fortunately that was only in football not music.
Superlative sound quality and instrument/vocal/channel separation on this mix! Cheers, '62 Mathew St. (Total Retro Rock)
Sounds great..RIP Mike Smith
I buy GLAD trash bags myself at Walmart. Leves me felling GLAD ALL OVER. I used to the have their Greatest Hits on the EPIC Orange label from 1976 when I was with the Columbia Record Club.
amazing band
Mono has a more raw sound to the music - whereas Stereo gives the music a more enhanced sound to it. Or it amplifies the sound more - if i can use that term here. I guess it comes down to personal preference. Myself - I like the Stereo better. It brings out the instrumentation sounds more, But again, this is just me.
It's why we have 2 ears !! A speaker for each ear ....STEREO !!
Correction smarty pants. Phil Spector hated stereo. I'm not sure yet which I like best. I am a musician and recording engineer.
I agree, stereo sounds much better
yesterdays audio mixes sounds much better than today.
Thank you Bikerdude990 for uploading this song - it's fantastic. I'm not sure if you're aware, McDonalds Restaurants used this song for their TV commercials back in the September 2012 school holidays.
Yes I am glad all over hearing the stereo mix of this song.
far better than the mono version
This is a CRYSTAL PALACE song been used since 1960's-present Port Vale Blackpool nicked it off us get a song of your own for a change....that aside top tune!
I was about 10 years old....they kicked The Beatles off the top of the charts around Christmas time and it was headline news.
I remember waiting for the "...and I'm feelin'...." (everybody's feet ) STOMP STOMP....." Glad all over....". Must be one of the greatest riffs. STOMP STOMP ! Who can STOMP STOMP the loudest !
+elfinia There are two holes in the floor right in front of this chair....
ROFL and down the hole ....
elfinia Absolutely...
50 ten year olds at the church Xmas party....oh joy STOMP STOMP !
elfinia HA! Oh lord, this is played at a Christmas party? Why? Well.... I guess it would get the 50 year olds dancing, at least.... or bouncing, if they can't dance....
Brilliant song, love it!!!
I saw the Dave Clark Five in Birmingham. My Mom and Aunties took me. Couldn't hear anything they san. But it was fabg
brings back my teenage years thanx for uploadin
This takes me back to 1964 BBC Picks of the Pops. see and listen to my tube sound
See MrJaika Picks of the Pops 1964. Greetings from Holland
I had a girl friend named Gladys,and...i wasn;t but at work my mates would sing this to me, LOL.Love the song btw
This song would be great for a Glad trash, sandwitch, freezer bags jingle. Other brands , waste money you throw away (you throw away), But with GLAD,they'll durrable, moneyyou"ll save (money you"ll save). Leaves you felling GLAD all over, Highest quality, GLAD all over, yes you"ll be GLAD all over, gives you piece of mind.
great song, my 18 month old daughter loves it too!!!
Anybody else see the PBS TV special last night about this band? It was REALLY good, I thought....
Yes, it was great!
+AntiHoplophobia Too much about Dave. Wished they had spent more time on the other members
Carol Wirth Yeah, I enjoyed the music and the history... but I did get the feeling that the show was a commercial for Dave Clark at times...
Dave was a superb drummer and wrote his songs to suit the percussion...
GREAT STUFF!
Hate to break it to you, but Dave Clark did NOT play on any of the group's hits. Session drummer Bobby Graham did. And the degree to which he contributed to the writing of their songs is also in question.
Clean, as God intended!
HAPPY 70TH BIRTHDAY DAVE CLARK!!
Excellent. Thanks for posting it.
At Margaret Whitmore
1.Glad All Over is the anthem for Barclays Premier League side Crystal Palace so it does have something to do with soccer so kindly keep your opinion to yourself as a Palace fan ever since the song was performed at our stadium the club and it's supporters adopted it as the club anthem
In the UK and Ireland it's used by McDonald's for their Happy Meal advertisements...
YEAH!!!
CpfcNate Thank you. All these great songs belong to everyone.
CRYSTAL..............PALACE!!!!!!!!!!
Crystal Palace 2, Tottenham Hotspur 1
From an Arsenal Supporter of 3 years based here in the U.S.A!!!
To all Eagles supporters and especially all the Holmesdale Fanatics throughout London (and soon the rest of the world), I got to enjoy your match against Spurs on NBC Television here in the States earlier this morning (local U.S. Pacific coast time kickoff was 9:30 am), and I want to give Alan Pardew and the players my utmost respect and a job well done in disposing of our most hated North London Derby rivals!!! Thanks!!! I just wish we Gooners were as this much more vocal as you!!! Enjoy your 3 points, and good luck, we hope to meet soon (on the pitch) and may the best club win then!!!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MAN U IS BETTER
RIP -- Rick Huxley bass for DC5. Dave Clark 5 were always great. But their true talent surfaced when they covered Neil Young's "Southern Man" late in their career. With a soaring lead guitar, heavy bass & driving sound they should have survived into the 70's with the Stones, Kinks & others. Surprisingly good. Mike Smith again proved he was one of the best lead singers in rock history. They deserved a longer career. They moved beyond single records with "Southern Man."
Sounds fantastic...thanks for posting
This song is fantastic! and is currently used in a McDonalds TV commercial.
It really IS a great song to sing after each match.
A revised version of GAO, what a surprise. Richer sound, a real treat.
Our band still plays this.....
Great stuff
Awesome. Love it, wish i had a time machine!!
Still played at every Crystal Palace match.
officially the top song in the uk i tunes at this time of poting haha
We've got Guardiola 👏👏
bikerdude990-Thanks, man. Any DC5 fan is cool in my book...

I'll put this up against any Beatle record.
We used to argue which band would last...these guys or the Beatles.
@StanBennet And I'll put "Because" up against any Beatle ballad.
And we've got joey garner we've got joey garner
I remember when they show up on Ed S and perform this I was waiting for them to punch through the stage with those Beatle Boots smokin.
The Tottingham Stomp..take that Beatles..
John Hintz It's _Tottenham_.
Throatwobbler Mangrove My bad.I'm a yank ya know. That Google autocorrect!.. ;-) cheers..
Throatwobbler Mangrove ARSENAL > Tottenham

That's your opinion, to which you are entitled, but I didn't even mention Arsenal.
man, that's a nice mix. thanks.
R.I.P Rick ...
Sorry, I didn't know. It's just that I was at a Crystal Palace match once and the song was Glad All Over.
They used to play this at Norwich home games
Hard to believe this song was released in 1963!

Jesus Christ is God, this is the truth. In HIM was life, and that life was the light of all people. Get saved, ask JESUS CHRIST to save you !
For some reason all the DC5 mono mixes use heavy reverb and vocals are distorted. I love this full fidelity stereo mix, slowed down to the correct speed
And Crystal Palace fans sing Dave Clark songs... Even tho he was a Tottenham Hotspur Football Club season ticket holder for many years.. Born and bred in Tottenham Edmonton 🤣👍
racing up the UK charts
If this group don't make yer foot tap then yer got one hell of a problem .
thecoolmans.simplesite.com My DC5 website
Live forever pals!
The reason for that is Dave Clark kept the rights to his songs. I looked for years to find a CD and they finally released on back in the 90's.
thecoolmans.simplesite.com My DC5 website
I'd love to hear "Any Way You Want It" or "Try Too Hard" in this mix.
Well I am not the only one who feels this way-attack them too. Adopted or not this is not a soccer song. We all have a right to our opinions-respect them as you would want your opinion respected.
Love it!
brilliant
It is a football song simply because Crystal Palace and Blackpool both use it,go to either team's home stadium and they sing this song as it is a part of both clubs,I respect that to some the song has no connection to football whatsoever but seriously stop calling people who support these clubs idiots it shows you are very ignorant of other people's feeling towards tgis song for me it is more than a 60's classic it is the song I always sing after every match.
CPFC Glad All Over EAGLES!!!
great stuff
Underrated, ahead of their time, a raw sound, precursors of punk. Listen to Bits and Pieces, that song would have fit in to the late 70's early 80's era of bands like The Clash.
R.I.P RICK HUXLEY,,,,
You are correct. This thing is dragging.
Penny and his Stratocaster!
The Shadowhound4 you are absolutely right . Please accept my apology for being so closed minded. Sincerely .
Just read about Rick :( Only Dave and Lenny left now.
