    It makes sense for summons to follow different rules and even consist of a different line up between games because they are all different universes, barring the obvious sequels/prequels. Personally I prefer them to more or less be spells we can use after proving ourselves worthy, but they should still hold relevance to the plot.

      Yes exactly, I think there's a balance between making them relevant to the world/story and not being elevated TOO far beyond being cool spells. It looks like FF16 is making them central to its story, but conversely FF7R has kept them as separate from the central plot..

    Native Americans could use summon with a singing chant and a hand drum. But it has to be a high class traditionalist and knows how to call them. I read the book about Wallace blackelk able to do this.
    While I was typing this you, you mentioned about native Americans lol bravo. But this wasn't a shaman. Shamans are people who have influences to good and evil or ability to do magic. These people are different to shamans and don't like to be referred that way.

    Greek Gods, Ancient Gods of Gilgamesh also created men in their own image. It’s hardly “Christian”.

    I believe strongly in Rydia. She has guided a lot of my actions in the real world because she is one of the best characters in all of Final Fantasy. I also believe in a lot of summoner lore from both FF4 and FF10, so whenever someone dies, I perform my own sendings. Believe it or not, the magic of these games is just as real to me as any other religion, and I don't think many people really understand that. My own set of beliefs centers around "What would Rydia do?" and some people may call me crazy or insane, but I feel there are a lot of valid attributes Rydia has that others don't understand.
    For example, when she tells Edward to "Stop Crying (over Anna)" when she has suffered a similar fate to losing a loved one, she is being a strong willed individual and really strives towards looking past things.
    She also says one thing that sets her apart from a lot of Final Fantasy Characters at the very end of Final Fantasy 4 while in the Feymarch with a baby monster "The Heart is what matters most, right Cecil?" because she sees beyond skin deep. Monsters and Humans in her world are alike, and this is a HUGE thing that is relevant to our society as a whole - we often judge people by their looks, gender, sexual orientation, religion, creed, disabilities, economic status, etc... but Rydia sees beyond this. If there was any summoner that I feel deserves more respect it would be her as she is very underrated and overlooked in the modern Final Fantasy World.

    Maybe 15 is telling the story of how the summons aeons gfs or whatever were first defeated by man and become vulnerable to mans will. I havent played it but that sounds like a cool game.

    Call.ing Palico from Monster Hunter as summonable monster is...a little stretch. But I guess you can call them over to heal you and stuff. It’s less like FF where you kept the summon in the back, and call them to do the work for you. But more like it’s your hunting friend, and you call it over to help you.
    Like your coworkers,,,but I guess we “summon” them (aka call them over) to help.

    I think changing up the summon roster for each game would be really interesting. There are so many interesting options to see SE take on.

    • @AlleywayJack
      @AlleywayJack  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah a lot of spirits/deities from different cultures that could be applied. I really like how they switched up Ramuh in later titles with creatures like Ixion/Quezacotl, made those games feel more unique within the FF worlds

      Heck, FF8 has a bunch of summons that would be cool cameos or more (like Doomtrain/Diablo/Cerberus/Eden)

    But can you say that the summons are based on dnd because dnd the players have the ability to summons creatures and ff is inspired by dnd so you may be wrong about the summons.

    • @AlleywayJack
      @AlleywayJack  3 роки тому +2

      It's possible. The summons were introduced in FFIII when the games were starting to become more unique, but it may have been tech limitation that summons weren't introduced earlier. Japanese school children also have a tradition of collecting bugs for 'beetle fighting' which has been considered another reason for so many 'capture and summon' stuff like Pokemon, FF etc. It could be an influence of all these, but dnd is a very clear one for FF specifically

    • @AlleywayJack
      @AlleywayJack  3 роки тому +2

      @@joshuataylor7443 It's interesting that the summons seem unique to specific individuals, and also that it seems factions may be based around their their own eikons (just speculation from the trailer as I haven't read more on it yet). If that's the case it'd be interesting to see how or if the player can acquire them all. Regardless they seem central to the storyline, maybe more than FFXV. What are your thoughts?
