WATCH MORE - One thing And Just Like That has going for it is a focus on fashion and how it relates to the character's lives. Here's our TAKE on the most iconic looks from And Just Like That... so far: ua-cam.com/video/jGlEexS64Gk/v-deo.html
I think the point of the show is being missed. They were superficial in the first show. Just bc they're older doesn't mean they've had real growth. Their personalizes and coping has been set. Samantha was real. She was 100% that B@#$&. She brought an energy that balanced the other women with their faux morality. They didn't care about social issues unless it directly effected them.
And Just Like That is horrendous! It’s so pandering. After 20+ years of only having white friends, are we seriously supposed to believe that all their friends are BIPOC now? Guess what? Most white people only have white friends. And so what! This is like an unfunny Golden Girls! Che is the worst! “They” and Miranda are like a really gross version of Fred and Wilma Flintstone. I don’t ever wanna see these two do it. And before you say I’m some sort of phobic, I don’t wanna ever see Charlotte and Harry do it either! Miranda is so weak now. Sex and The City Miranda would have punched this Miranda in the face, and balls! I don’t care about Miranda’s boring professor love life. BYE! Sima is NO Samantha! Clearly all the actors came back because they were about to be evicted and homeless. There’s really no other good explanation for this hot stinking mess! I can’t stand Charlotte’s kids. In what universe is that one kid a “model”? More plausible then that gross three way. The MILF episode was beyond disgusting. Who’s writing And Just Like That, 13 year old boys?
Has going for them? Their fashion is terrible! Their tablecloth dresses and Carries oversized hats? Not to mention Charlotte puffy sleeve dresses and that Miranda is a mess of mismatched colors and patterns. They all look like s***!
And Charlotte :/ they have tried to make Charlotte more Samantha throughout. In the finale s2 charlotte wakes up drunk in bed face down with Anthony wanting to talk about ass virginity… more Samantha feeling
Well unfortunately if they tried the new method people like you don't like it who were looking for the old method but if they tried the old method the newer generation would hate it because they would consider it dated and out of touch. 😅
What this show has done to Miranda has been unforgivable. I get that people grow (or regress) and change as time goes on, but AJLT Miranda is nearly completely unrecognizable from SatC Miranda.
@@izzyjoshuadavisI loved Kim in that but the show is meh. Marco gets on my nerves, I stopped after 5 episodes tops. As I said I love Kim in it, her role and her whole persona, she's fabulous!! But the rest feels flat. 😢
Guys, we love Kim and miss her, but we do have to be sensitive. She chose to not reprise her role, and mentioning Samantha so often might actually feel like... Pressure. There is no other Samantha for sure, and she was one of a kind, but Kim chose a different path during this point in her life, and have to genuinely be sensitive.
Someone on tiktok said the show felt like HR sensitivity training and that's exactly it. The previous show tackled a central theme each episode that played out in different ways in the characters lives, and Carrie would write a column about it. They could've easily kept that format with her podcast, but instead they've lost their way and have given up on storylines and staying true to their characters.
It's HR version of RHONY. None of the things that happen mean anything at all, the fights, the conversations, nothing, exactly like in RHONY. Sex is brought up as a wow factor for the audience but we're not wowed anymore cause it's 2023?? Wealth is flaunted and neutralizes any issue these characters might ever experience, like in RHONY - The only thing is missing is the getting wasted part, cause, you know, HR 🤷♀
The series should have opened with Samantha passing after a cancer relapse, not Big's passing, necessarily. The entire first season should have been about the remaining 3 wrestling with the aftermath of that, their own grief, AND the fact that the world doesnt treat friendship loss like the loss of a partner/spouse, even though it can be. OR it should have had Samantha/Carrie have a fallout, but treat it like a divorce story. All the pain, all the "I dont know what to do", all the "how did we GET here". Have the beats of the dating life be trying to make new friends for your own sake, not just Mommy Friends because THAT is real
Wow. We need you in the writer's room. Not only would they have to deal with their grief, but the three left behind would have each been propelled to consider how short life is and reexamine their own lives -- so many really interesting story possibilities there.
@@ApoloniaJones1976 tbh, I think it would have been great to have Charlotte have been Samantha's caretaker at the end. Women are often the caretakers of people and her dealing with, "I had this person totally depend on me and now it's over and my kids need my less like what do I do". Meanwhile Carrie is struggling because Big "gets it", but does NOT get it. He doesnt get why she can't work but she can shop and she'd obsessed with every detail of Samantha's funeral. The funeral planning should have been a whole episode because they'd be the ones planning it. And they're squabbling and obsessing and so so sad and so so helpless. Also, having one if the women deal with alcoholism/orthorexia triggered by this could have been interesting. Among wealthy women, disordered relationships with food and drink can look very different and is a real problem. That's relatable, even if the classes are different.
I think AJLT focuses so much on what it thinks its younger audience want (tackling progressive issues and inclusivity) that it forgot what the original show was about: four friends who were each other's soulmates through the good times and the bad.
Very true. And the diversity had no subtlety- it’s as if you could hear the roomful of white writers going through a checklist- “Black character? Check. Indian character? Check. Latin character? Check. Non-binary characters? Check.” If a show is to present diversity in a way that feels organic and not hammering the audience over the head, it needs to hire a full team of diverse writers- not just a token here or there, but multiple writers with lived experiences that can meaningfully inform the story.
I can't pin point what exactly is bothering me in the show, but there is something really screwed up. For me personally, I think the new characters are breath of fresh air (excluding Che) - I find them all smart, funny and gorgeous. And somehow they totally messed up the original (now) trio. They behave absolutely absurd and stale - I won't even comment on the whole Miranda/Che storyline.
The worst thing about this is Miranda. Miranda and Carrie had incredible chemistry, and they had always been closer to each other than the rest of the group. That is missing completely, just as Miranda's personality. The character went from her development arc to being some weird character's groupie.
And as an example... I thought that Carrie would give/rent (whatever) her place to Miranda since she now just has a room on a friends place but no.. she give up her apartment to a young woman who maybe Carrie thought: "it's been taken care by a young me" but it didn't make much sense to me.
I know it was of a different time but The Golden Girls focused on older women, their friendships and romances, and did it ((and many other topics) much better than ...And Just Like That
Grace & Frankie, is one of the best show ever, and not only deal with older woman's friendship, but two older gay men discovering themselves, and it is done perfectly, the drama, the comedy, the plots, everything.
They totally ripped off 'Golden Girls'. The naive one, the slutty one, the grouchy one and the cynical relatable girl. They just made them 30 years younger and moved them to NY.
I was actually proud of her for not wanting to be on it. They just be paying her something proper if she’s willing to go back on everything she’s said.
This show is insufferable, preachy woke garrrrbage. Kim made the correct choice in not returning. Idk how anyone can unironically watch it & stand more than a minute watching it in earnest.
The writing and character arcs were so fucking out of touch. That’s why this vapid, unwanted, uncreative “show” didn’t land with anyone younger than 40 - Americans are struggling to pay rent.
Didnt Miranda specifically have a scene in a particular SATC episode where she "tried" to be a lesbian but in her own words and I QUOTE she was, "yup...definitely straight" Also wasnt she the one who said Steve "BROKE US" by him cheating on her? And now she basically did 180 on both of those things. This Maranda ain't the Miranda I know
to your first question: 35 year old Miranda kissed one woman, felt zero sparks, and should extrapolate... what, exactly? that's a disappointing Saturday night, not definitive proof of heterosexuality. attraction can be so unpredictable. I would understand your confusion if she had spent a year in the queer dating scene and was coming up cold in dozens of dates, but she made a sweeping generalization off of a sample size of one. and honestly even if she had explored like this in her youth, 20 years have passed. sexuality -- like not just is someone queer or not, but how we experience ourselves as sexual beings -- is fluid. second question: you right lol. I think she's having a mid-life crisis.
@@gigglebox365is not that she just kissed this one woman and didn’t enjoy it is that she just wasn’t attracted to women in general. That’s something that doesn’t take years to figure out. If you just can’t fathom the idea of being sexual with a woman you shouldn’t force yourself for years to make sure. She was always depicted to be straight and while sexuality can be fluid it does not come out of nowhere. People who “become gay” later in life often always had the attraction they just didn’t act on it. Not just her becoming gay but suddenly she doesn’t care about her family and is this insecure doormat this isn’t who was established to us this is a completely different character.
@@SocialExperiment232 but what does it look like to not act on queerness? it looks like heterosexuality. so anytime a TV character is depicted as straight, there's no way to know if they're closeted or in denial or simply unaware of their queerness unless the show chooses to depict that interiority. yes, in general it's bad storytelling to not lay the groundwork for a plot twist. but not in Miranda's case. heteronormativity is powerful shit. it is crazy to assume that every queer person is aware of their queerness. if you spend time in queer communities you'll find that stories of older people who never recognized their capacity for queer attraction until they fell for a specific person are common (Elizabeth Gilbert, Glennon Doyle). and -- gotta stress this part -- some of those people are only "gay" for that one person. they genuinely did not have a same-sex attraction to others "all along." the Kinsey scale has limitations, but you should look into it. sexuality isn't like being pregnant. there are degrees, permutations. fluidity.
@gigglebox365 that's... not how sexuality works? People can know what their sexuality is without dating around. The kiss was supposed to be confirmation of what she already knew deep down. There would be nothing wrong with her being gay, but the point is that they just decided later on to change her character. She wasn't ever meant to be gay until they just decided so with the reboot. Is it possible for this to happen to someone in real life? Sure. But the whole point is we know that wasn't the original intention when writi g her character.
Carrie, a sex columnist and an ADULT, couldn't say VAGINA and l tens of people lost their JOBS. The rich author and widow of an even richer guy couldn't care enough to do her job when other people's livelihood was on the line. And she moved on from the podcast so casually. Because she's still rich, they don't matter. Very relatable
They changed the shows format which made it unbearable. Every episode of SATC always had a theme that connected each character. In the reboot, there’s too many characters and storylines that aren’t connected to each other. It feels disjointed and random
Ugh its pissing me off how much all these new people are forced together as one big friend gang. Sorry but Naya does not fit in with this group and that's no shade to her. I just don't see her hanging out with Carrie and Charlotte. Its ridiculous to me. She's way more intellectual.
And I hate how unpersonal the friendships have become. Before and even in the movies, the funny thing was that sth was typical Carrie or typical Miranda and how well they would know each other and how they were there for each other. A relatable friendship. Now it seems like they don’t know each other. And waaaaay too many characters. I don’t like Nara and seema and the mom friend of charlotte. It’s tooo much. They aren’t relatable characters
1. cynthia nixon was not able to separate herself from miranda, but the viewers are. to insist that miranda has a storyline that mirrors her life was just extremly inauthentic. 2. michael patrick king and sarah jessica parker tried to villainize samantha, just like they tried to villainize kim catrall. they were sooooooo desperate to paint kim as some greedy entitled diva, that they really had SAMANTHA, the most loyal friend and financially most successful of them all, treat carrie as her "personal atm" and cut her off because she felt entitled to her money ahahahah?! carrie felt entitled to other peoples money, e.g charlottes engagement ring, samantha would never. and kim isnt entitled or greedy for demanding to be paid her worth. we now see how much she contributed and how unable they are to recreate it even by adding THREE more women. and only now, that the character assasination has failed, they have her back for a cameo. serves them right, i hope kim made 6 if not 7 figures for those 5 minutes. - that being said, i feel season 3 of the second season was the first time it felt like back then again. i hope it stays like that.
EXACTLY. Samantha was the most loyal, true friend. She took care of everyone, especially Carrie. She spoon fed a catatonic Carrie yogurt in bed so she could get food in her system after Big jilted her at the altar. She. REMOVED. CARRIE’S. BC DEVICE. BY. HAND. so that Carrie wouldn’t have to go to an emergency gyno appointment. She was the most successful of the four, and totally self made. The moment Carrie said Samantha saw her as a “personal piggy bank” - we knew it was personal. Both Samantha and Kim Cattrall are too dynamic and classy for this.
I agree that 2x3 was the only good episode thus far. But that is only because faking covid to get out of a uncomfortable situation was the first amd only really relatable storyline.
“And just like that” feels like “Sex and the city” fan fiction. The storylines are ridiculous and most of them lead us nowhere. The show went from focusing on 4 women to 7 women in order to makeup for Kim’s absence. Sadly they were unable to fill the void. Also, the missing voiceovers only makes matters worse…King & Parker were way in over their heads they tarnished the legacy. There’s nothing they could’ve possibly added to the original series. We didn’t need this reboot just like we didn’t need those holo movies. Kim wasn’t being difficult…she knew there was nowhere left to go with these characters.
Tbh, nowadays fanfics are often written better than the original. In games it works the same way, some fan made modifications are more true to the original than the 'official' game from a studio. I am talking about Fallout in particular.
You can clearly tell that the writers don't know what to do with Charlotte, since she hasn't been given the same amount of attention as Carrie or Miranda have. They also blatantly appear to be setting Seema up as Samantha's replacement.
They're not "setting" Seema up. She IS Samantha's replacement. Funnily enough I was watching "Divorce" with SJP and in S1 Ep 8, "Seema" shows up as an acquaintance of SJP. I guess the casting directors asked SJP for ideas re: Samantha's replacement.
The show acts like having a "normal" life like Charlotte's is absurd and "boring", in reality is actually the opposite. I feel like the writers don't know how to write engaging plots without out of touch drama :/
Actually, they seem to be GLORIFYING the traditional way of life that Charlotte has chosen. It should have been CHARLOTTE, not Miranda, who had a 1970s-style midlife crisis and rethought her marriage-or at least the terms and premises on which it was originally negotiated. AT LEAST GO BACK TO WORK OR SCHOOL, CHARLOTTE! The kids are TEENAGERS and no longer need Mom’s obsessive helicopter parenting!
I do like the idea of making Rock non-binary, as that would be a great avenue for some character development for traditional, “that is not the way it works” Charlotte. But good GOD this show needs better writers to bring the few decent ideas they have to life!
I’m 33 and was blown away watching SATC for the first time in my late 20s. It sooooo accurately depicted my life in NYC as a single girl… but I couldn’t get past 3 episodes of AJLT. I feel like this show is EXACTLY what people are talking about when they slam “wOkEnEsS.” It’s just cringe.
Which is extremely disappointing because it gives fodder to the people who hate the message not just the delivery. And people start to think diverse stories is literally incompatible with good storytelling. Which is obviously not true. You can’t just give a heavy handed lecture with your characters while completely ignoring plot, world building, character development, and most importantly - storytelling.
Absolutely! I am not anti Lbgtq , but I really can’t stand the continuous shoving it down my throat . I’ve really want to watch the show but I am just turned off
@@leilanidru7506 100%. People call stuff woke simply because it’s a story that doesn’t center white and/or straight people. I see that all the time. But this woke? It’s too much. It’s performative.
@@katpat12345 This show is insufferable, preachy woke garrrrbage. Kim made the correct choice in not returning. Idk how anyone can unironically watch it & stand more than a minute watching it in earnest.
They should have stopped after the first movie. It was the happy ending we waited for. Movie #2 was so bad, this reboot has ruined it for me. I can’t even watch season 2
I'm right there with you. 2nd movie was so bad I cut it off midway through. I watched the first 2 episodes of this, I'm done. There's SitC and I'll let the first movie slide. After that... There is nothing for me. 😢
@@goldilox369I totally agree. I hate-watched the second movie and viewed the first season of AJLT to see if they would redeem the SATC universe. Alas, I find myself watching the second season of AJLT for the same reason. 😐
For me the issue is that the original series was a comedy punctuated with moments of drama, and the new show is drama punctuated with moments of comedy. It just doesn't feel right.
It may be terrible writing. The team might be not getting the original voice at all and maybe they’re beginners who that streaming network is giving a chance to… I think it’s nice that they’re … trying… to capture what this age group is going through now and who they are now in the new world…
The original is one of those shows that if you watch it with a friend there will always be at least one part of every episode that you want to pause and talk about. The new show is totally missing that conversation-starter aspect-- it's cringey but without the fun payoff of the original.
I literally want them to just focus on the three main leads…like no hate on the other characters but I could care less about their storylines. Also Che and Miranda have ZERO chemistry. Miranda is also a COMPLETELY different person.
Have you ever had a lunch or dinner alone in a crowded restaurant where you felt incredibly uncomfortable? Where the vibe was just way off, and SUPER stiff? Where you assumed because you go out to dinner alone in your city all the time, this should be no different- but instead you’re sitting up too straight, nervously smiling at staff’s jokes, feeling terribly undressed, eating something you immediately regret ordering? That’s what it feels like when I watch And Just Like That. I just want to go back to my favorite restaurant and have a drink and relax- instead of the bitter, overpriced dish I assumed I would enjoy because I like the listed ingredients, but have somehow been arranged in the worst possible way, in an anxiety inducing space. SATC felt glamorous, but with real heart and substance. AJLT feels like the try-hard menu from a restaurant that is more focused on announcing itself as cutting edge, but offers little substance, artistic expression, joy or feeling of community.
JLT has lost the heartbeat/flow and humour that SATC had in spades. With to many main characters, with no real substantial storylines. Which just doesn’t allow you to root for, or even care for these unrelatable characters, especially the new cast members. I do wonder if it can be fixed.
Yes! Also, originally the characters were witty, sarcastic, sharp. And here it's so obvious they're terrified of getting cancelled that they choose to not say anything at all.
So much potential just wasted. Carrie was a mess in the original series which was why she was somewhat endearing, but all of that is gone, what is there to identify with when she's now a 1% with zero issues that most of us face, I really thought that they were gonna go a route where Carrie starts looking into Big's life after he died and sees all the awful things he did, SA payouts at his work, cheating, maybe even a child he didn't acknowledge etc... And dealing with realizing she didn't know him and anger/grieving at the same time, and wanting to make amends. Miranda could have gone into politics and they could have brought back John Slattery, there were so many other interesting routes they could have taken. I never thought SATC would be boring, but here we are.
The series seems determined to lionize Big, the obnoxious capitalist mogul-and to trash Miranda, the ambitious woman (by shitting all over the successful career and family life she had attained and now telling us that her life wasn’t happy after all). Conservative propaganda much?
Oh no, that would have made it even worse. You don’t understand Big’s character, at all. The “potential” you see is just a caricature of the post-Me Too media. None of that is Big. He’s a cheater, sure, but a serial sexual predator and a deadbeat father??! How did you even get that from his character?! Adultery and sex crimes are not the same things, and are not related by any thread, including that of someone’s character. The reason this show sucks is because the writers are people like you.
@@Su-mx7ix You really didn't even properly read my comment before you replied, you just wanted to be outraged. So unnecessary to get personally insulting too, have your opinion, sure, but being insulting is a petty cheap shot. I understand him differently, there isn't a right and wrong, shouldn't we see and interpret characters in different ways, through our own eyes, shaped by our own experiences? I never said that adultery, being a deadbeat dad and SA were the same things, I didn't mean to imply otherwise, sorry. It was just a string of ideas of shady things he could have done in his past, nowhere did I link them. We're talking about a man who; married Natasha, even though he didn't love her, and shoved it in Carries face, cheated on Natasha and his previous wife, came to Aiden's cabin (even though Carrie asked him not too), kept forcibly kissimg Carrie in the elevator even though she pushed him away and asked him to stop, and if you include the movies, left Carrie at the altar. He has already exhibited a lot of problematic behaviour. Yes he's charming, funny and decisive, but he has always been hot and cold and had a very cruel side, the way he spoke to Carrie after his heart surgery/about Paris shows how he can flip on a dime. I don't think it's such a stretch.
I blame the young woke writers and producers caving to social media woke culture for trying to make the show about EVERYONE. When you do not know your audience you lose your audience. The best shows of the 90's from Seinfeld to Martin to Living Single to Sex and the City didn't try hard to speak to everyone and that is what made them amazing.
Agreed. Not everything has to be about everyone. Isn't the point of culture is that it's unique to different people? Martin and Living Single were definitely aimed at the black audience but they ended up appealing to other people as well because they were just funny and entertaining period. Seinfeld definitely was a very Jewish\New York type show but everyone ended up watching it because funny is universal. By trying to appeal to everyone you appeal to no one.
Any one else notice how in that throw back clip at the start where Carrie is hailing a cab, she's standing in a bike lane? And the most recent episode she has a line claiming there were no bike lanes in her day? And just like that, I caught Carrie in a lie.
Lots of good points brought up here that I agree with. A few things to add: the character assassination of Miranda has been one of the most unforgivable things for me. She just doesn't resemble anything close to the character we knew and loved, and feels more like a Cynthia Nixon/Miranda hybrid. Also, Che is always just angry and moody, and the "too cool for school" persona is tiring and they zap the energy from any scene they're in. If the producers/creators were really listening to the fans, they would have dumped Che before season 2. It's so odd that they heard the criticism of SATC and try to overcorrect mistakes, but don't listen to any about AJLK. It's a hate watch train wreck for me at this point.
Yeah I watched Sex and the City marathons over and over like I never seen it before. They were so interesting and brought about an interesting calmness. “And Just Like That” seems annoyingly chaotic and stresses me out. Makes me sad that the original cast has to go along with it. They knew how amazing Sex and the City was and how it made viewers feel. Maybe they’re happy people are complaining so they don’t have to be the ones to speak up about it. 😅
People are too scared to have an opposing opinion. Tony Danza very gently admitted he couldn't wrap his head around these new ideas, but that he wouldn't block them. I love how we want to live in a non-binary world, but there are only two choices: you're for us or against us, no exceptions. Fail! Just because someone doesn't put on a t shirt and wave a flag does not mean they want to do you harm. Enforced participation is not support.
Was too young when it first aired, not old enough to care. I'm not the target audience and that's okay. Problem is I went through this stuff when the horrible Netflix sequel to Gilmore Girls dropped and felt just as betrayed. So JLT fans, I feel you. I really do.
A Year in the Life was so terrible!! What was with that long absurd musical scene?! The only good part of that terrible sequel was Emily's growth and character development (and seeing Jess again, he and Luke are my favorites).
Jajaja that's what I was thinking. This falls right in with another butched reboot. They end up ruining the characters trying to pander to wokeness and kill our hope for those characters
What is missing in ajlt is conflict, disagreement and growth. In satc the girls all had their own opinions according to their characters. They debated current social issues and learned from each other. In this show however, all of them seem to be exchangable. All agree on the „woke“ issues exactly in the same way. None seems to struggle with how the worlds changed. That‘s not relatable. Most people have big trouble adjusting with social change. Everyone has friends who just don‘t get why people now use pronouns like them/they, male friends who dont know how to act around women any more since the me too movement or why they are suddenly supposed to take the bus instead of their car because of global warming. I want to see Charlotte having a hard time adjusting, Carry trying hard to get the hang of it and Miranda questioning everything. I want to see them discuss and learn from each other. Instead they all just agree on everything. It‘s just so boring.
One of the best moments in the show so far was when Charlotte's younger daughter comes out as non-binary and has name and pronouns changed by school with everybody knowing before parents. It was kinda cruel, but seeing them trying to grapple with the school putting them into a corner made them seem more relatable and not like "oh you're [insert any random identity], yay, let's make a party". Just like they didn't all approve or understand Samantha's lesbian experiment, it should be okay to pose some questions about new stuff. That could make the show more relevant instead of making it just another reboot with correct racial proportions and pronouns.
@@mnm597nope. There were a LOT of legal issues they just ignored - schools can't leave legal guardians out of a discussion like that. Charlotte's husband is a lawyer and could take the school to the cleaners for that. The whole "I'm Rock, not Rose" played more like a tantrum for attention than coming out
@@lenawagenfuehr53 maybe, I'm not sure how it legally works but it did seem like a form of pressure on parents from the school. If they opposed it, than they would be the bad guys in that situation not only in the eyes of the kid, but also in the eyes of other parents who all accepted it. And maybe school can't change legal name and gender, but can do it as a form of support and start referring to the student by preferred name and pronouns. Not a lawyer nor have I been in the situation like that, just assuming what it could be.
the main thing about "and just like that" is that, unlike sex and the city, it has nothing to say. it has no reason to exist. it's not the product of a writer with a vision and perspective and a human experience they want to share and explore. they just felt like rebooting it. they are trying to justify the reboot by including a diverse cast but that cast has nothing to do.
For me AJLT doesn't exist because it's clearly a failure. It's a perverted parallel universe that means nothing) So my favourite characters got their happy endings and they all lived happily ever after)
I would have too, but they "kinda" did this with a show called Glamorous. ( Starring Kim Cattrall) I gave the first episode a try.. it has too many things working against it for me. First it focuses in on the business of make up. I don't enjoy make up THAT much. I know make up is a big thing for youtubers/influencers but I am definitely not in make up on those levels.. Second Kim's character is a complete afterthought. That's how the first episode felt anyways... I don't care to watch some young nobody riding her coattails.. I am here for Kim. Third Kim's actual character. I don't know if it is the amount of botox she has had over the years, but her face had no emotions. (I will see if this holds on her AJLT cameo) It didn't seem like it was JUST botox to me though... even her lines she said with no spirit, no spunk, no anything... which lets be honest.. Samantha (Kim's character in SATC) was notorious for her amount of passion. I think they are trying to do a Meryl Streep Devil wears Prada tribute to older very successful business women but fell so flat compared to that performance. I'm also kinda tired of that stereotype too btw. That she's older and successful look how miserable she is and treats everyone like garbage. *rolls eyes" So there is a show with her but no it's not Samantha. No where close to it. I hope she gets to stay apart of SATC more but we will see.
Besides all the obvious problems, AJLT doesn't show anything else about New York anymore. I've never been there, but because of TV series, especially Sex and the City, it has always seemed like a fantastic place to me. It's probably just another TV lie, but it's a fundamental lie of this series that has been erased.
As a point on "And Just Like That" and it's materialism and rich people problems in "Sex and the City" Carrie has a "What is wrong with me?" moment when she finds out that she was spending $10,000+ a month on shoes and was struggling to pay rent because of it. On a different note Samantha probably should've died or moved away if she wasn't going to a regular character on the show. It would've given viewers a proper chance to mourn the absence of pretty much all of the sexuality from the original series.
Samantha did move away. She’s in London. I think the creators were holding out in the event KIM changed her mind or wanted to make small cameos like she is doing this season.
It's simple: in this show, I just don't care about the characters. Note even one. Maybe except Natasha. They cruise along in their stale privileged lives and the whole time I'm wondering "Why. Shoud. I. Care". You're waiting for something to happen, and it never does.
I wish they had just rebooted Sex & the City with a more modern take and or had And Just Like That follow a group of older women unconnected to SaTC. The premise of both shows could be pretty good, and I like seeing stories about older women because I too am becoming an older woman and it'd be nice to see myself reflected on the screen (as they say).
I kinda survived first season of And just like that at least there were some events in their lives .. second season is just.. like nothing is going on, I couldn't care less about most of the new characters they are flat and unrelatable, not mentioning how original characters changed even more, Charlotte is a caricature, Miranda is a different character, Carrie is almost herself but she became boring.
I was really hoping that "just like that" was a lot more like golden girls. So much potential since Miranda and Charlotte's kids are already grown. The writers could have made their story arcs about returning back to themselves after family life like Charlotte going back to her career, miranda finally starting her own firm. I was also hoping that Carrie finally took her Vogue stint more seriously and focused on fashion writing. Kim Catrall gave us all the gift of not ruining Samantha with the awful writing.
Sex and the City was funny and relatable. I used to rewatch all seasons countless times with my girlfriends and it was still entertaining, because it felt so close to home. AJLT might as well be about a group of aliens on a foreign planet, nothing relatable there and I don't get the jokes.
They should have made Big leave all the money to charity, so it would be: 1. Surprise, 2. Carrie is left with only their joint apartment and belongings plus her own money and apartment, 3. She would have to be a little “more frugal” for Carrie’s standards, 4. Had more reasons to keep podcasting hence keeping the voice over. They should have kept the number of new friends to two plus Miranda’s new love interest. It’s totally normal for Charlotte to start a new friendship with a parent at school and for Carrie to get a new friend as a part of grieving, but professor, neighbors, podcasters, mother in law dramas (although hilarious) are totally unnecessary. Just keep them for one episode and move on, don’t develop a whole new storylines for side characters nobody cares about. In the original show even Charlotte’s brother only got one episode. Keep the blatant elitism and consumerism to some reasonable level. It would be believable if one of them would be going through some rough times financially plus Carrie brought back to more humble roots. It’s normal and it’s life. Instead everywhere they go they wear obnoxious clothes, being fawned over, dotted and served everything on silver platter. All the problems are fixed with money, shopping or wielding influence. The allure of the original show was that a lot of times they didn’t get what they wanted. But oh well, it is what it is…
I still check out some of the clips out of nostalgia but for me the show ends with the second movie. On the bright side Carrie having money from Big doesn’t make me sideeye on how she can afford that life style like I could in the original. I don’t have a Birkin but having your purse stolen is terrible. I had my purse stolen twice so it’s not out of touch. I would end the preachiness and get rid of Che
It feels TOO scripted and sanitized. Like they started with a script and someone's red pen went to work. As loyal fans we know it can't be exactly what it was but the realness is GONE. It's sad.
The biggest problem I had was that our friends stopped being friends. It almost ruined the series for me. If Miranda had done something like she did with Che in the original series, the girls would have acted like real friends and done her great therapy. Not to judge her, but to help her and understand her. Here, this is taken away. It's more shattering of silly problems than real dramas. I can't get over it.
Satc is a show born in the 90s and to rest in peace in the 2000s. Nothing from that show translates to 2023. And worst of all, since kim catrall (samantha) outed the whole production and especially Sarah Jessica Parker to be mean, petty, jealous bullies - i just can't buy into the larger than life friendship theme. It's all a lie, a ridiculous play, a mockery of womanhood, love and life. Seeing this review confirms everything i suspected. They should have let it be buried in the 2000s.
For me, the BIGGEST issue with the show is the basic set up. It's always been about FOUR women, a close group of fun girlfriends. They have our 3 originals in AJLT, and then 3 new new of colour......BUTTT.... the problem is we don t care about these new characters. Let's face it. We aren't invitested at all in their drama. They should have just focused on one new friend of colour, to complete the four, and over two seasons we would have become attatched to her and we would have a similiar SATC vibe, just without Samantha. Some of these new characters aren't even in episodes. It's so stupid and woke. I feel like they really made a mistake with this.
To all the people who say it’s watchable: It’s not about the fact that it’s watchable, it’s the fact that it doesn’t even live up to the reason of why the show was continued, some might even say it’s disrespectful to the memory of SATC. Sometimes it’s better to leave certain things alone, now everyone will remember that sad attempt at a sequel. This show is basically the new Madonna of TV show, dethroning Dexter: New Blood (which is simply abysmal)
I agree with several comments about what an uncomfortable watch it is. I think the whole thing has been written from a very defensive and disengenious place. Instead of owning the cultural zietgiest that SATC was made in and making a show in this era they've made a huge defense mechanism and called it a show. Also strikes me that in order to ease their consciences they thought wait we ARE diverse! We have cynthia! Let's push that angle any way we can even if the writing makes no sense for that character
After turning down the original storyline for Samantha, Kim suggested they tell a story where Samantha loses all her money and her struggles with finding a new career path as an older woman but they turned that idea down to which Kim turned HBO down for her character's return.
@@deonnadyson Yup, the storyline they pitched to Kim for Samantha's character going to be about Brady sending her d*ck pics and that's when Kim said no thank you. That is the best they could come up with for Samantha? Not only does that sound humiliating it sounds and feels like something SJP would pitch to the writers out of spite for Kim.
After 3 years, I decided to give it a try, I watched it for 20 minutes and I stopped when I realized the show was not actually made for the fans of the original SATC. It's terrible!!!
I’m enjoying Season 2 of AJLT way more than Season 1. I prefer the new cast storylines over the original ladies (I really like Seema and LTW). But I check out during the Miranda storylines. It’s not that I don’t like Che (I think they would be fine as a 2nd tier character like Anthony or Stanford back in the day) but I don’t like Miranda when she is with Che to the point where I don’t know why CHE even likes Miranda. And Charlottes storylines are usually snooze fests too. If you ever want a laugh, listen to the AJLT writers room podcast, the writers are so clueless.
So true about Miranda around Che. It's maddening that this strong, sardonic, sharp-minded lawyer would turn into this tiptoeing clawless kitten around someone who isn't okay with themselves and takes it out on everyone. I hope they split already and she reunites with Steve. That would be the ultimate confirmation that Steve and Miranda belong together if they can overcome this. They have overcome pretty much anything else.
Good writing needs to be about relationships and people first and foremost. Tackling social issues should only be as a result of the relationships and development of your characters. The issue with the sequel is that there is no source of conflict for any of these characters. Big dying was the only source of conflict.
Im still on season one, but I immediately got very mad at how they represented Samantha. She would never ever be the kind of friend to ditch her friends and never answer their messages and calls. In Satc she was always the most supportive one
The reboot is mostly about ticking boxes and comes across as preachy. The core characters are almost unrecognizable (except for Carrie). Charlotte was always the more conservative one, and yet she's totally cool with one of her daughters deciding their nonbinary? Miranda was tough as nails, and now she comes across as whiny and clingy. The other characters introduced are good and mostly likeable. It just feels like they are trying too hard to be "diverse" instead of focusing on great storylines. I really miss the old SATC. It was about women navigating dating issues in their 30's. The bond between the four ladies was awesome.
I like Seema’s character… but that’s all they really needed. Adding the black professor and the black mum.. was just overkill. Have Miranda fall in love with the black professor, bring Seema into the fold, get rid of Che and superfluous others. But then the writing is crap, the plot is crap, Carrie’s advice is crap. There’s no tension, drama, mystery. Just stupid
@@qualinselerHer becoming gay was part of her losing her personality. It all stemmed from Cynthia Nixon being an executive producer, and thus, too involved in the creative aspect of the show. She essentially got to remake Miranda in her own image. Far as I’m concerned, the original Miranda is dead and this one is an impostor.
I also thought that her relationship with Steve was so amazing, they went through so much (remember her bathing his mom or the cheating in the 1st movie?) and stayed together and loved each other so much. It was very disillusioning that after all this she wanted to just end it. I mean, we hope to even find a love like that and know it can stand all these trials and definitely not tear it all down when you're close to 60.
They say you write what you know. My guess is the writers are out of touch so it makes sense that the show comes across that way. It’s all questionable style and no substance.
It’s always been like that! SATC was based on Candace Bushnell’s book, which was based on Bushnell’s “lifestyle” column-which was a glorified advertorial for the expensive fashions and entertainments that Bushnell claimed she and her “friends” consumed. And SATC continued in this vein, by showcasing “name label” products often. (These were obviously product placements-because if a storyline was really just about Carrie’s compulsive shopping, why would specific designers have to be named?) Hence the constant mixed messages the show seemed to send. Was it meant as a satire/expose’ on consumerism, the fashion industry, and fashion “journalism”-or a series of commercials for the very things at which it poked (only the gentlest of) fun? I’m starting to wonder.
Except Candace Bushnell is no fan of SATC or AJLT. She never wanted Big and Carrie to end up together. She also doesn't like how Carrie has all of Big's money
They got rid of everything that made everyone love the show. Destroyed everyone’s relationships that we rooted for and the jokes are dry and not funny and it’s not the same without Samantha. It’s overly “woke” 🙄🙄🙄
I never missed an episode since the show began. If we were on a vacation or business trip I would make sure HBO was offered or we weren’t staying in that hotel. I kinda grew up with Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte as a young twenty something woman as I saw a bit of each of them in myself. However I cannot get myself to watch this new show after watching the previews. I barely got through the second movie and thought the producers should have stopped at that point. I’m a woman of mixed heritage Hispanic and Asian and I never cared one bit that the main characters were all white.
I mean, I am a fan of the original series and I am not even american. It has been broadcasted countless times here (Greece), the first time I watched was with subtitles that missed much of the worldplay. And I was 13 and a virgin. Even then, I loved it.
I just wish someone close to Mirandas actor would just tell her nobody gives a fuck about her personal life ON A SEX AND THE CITY REBOOT!!! We care about the character portrayed in the show, not the actor. And just get that through to her as delicately as they can so it won’t effect her ego in anyway and she’ll actually take in what they say
They should’ve hired a new group of friends with different personalities working to come up in the New York scene who are connected with the 4 main in different ways. They meet through the ladies and become their own set. The ladies are still there but more background. We still get the characters we love and know and their storylines but the characters are saved by not being the main focus.
I will just say this: Sex and The City was my the most fav. tv show for years. After watching three episodes of reboot, I regretted that I gave it even a chance. Then I went to re watch original tv show and I felt again better. SATC and ..Just like that" are like two completely different tv shows, three same main characters cutted of original and put in something that has nothing to do with what and how original tv show was like.
One of the key elements missing from the new series is the tough honesty of SITC, e.g. “he’s just not that into you.” It often asked tough questions about sex and relationships and the real-world answers didn’t necessarily align with modern feminist theory. The Miranda from the original series would have roasted the PC gender politics of the new show with an eye-roll. The fact that someone with her age and experience - who actually experienced real in-your-face sexism in her day - was acting like a 11th grade school girl pathetically trying to get gender politics “right” was just depressing.
They did align with feminist theory. SatC portrayed men as shitty partners to women, which they were, and are. Many of the conflicts started from that. And Darren Starr has said that the fairy tale ending betrayed the core of the series - that women are enough, no men needed to feel complete.
@@yoanastoyanova First, I don't think that feminist theory says that "men are shitty partners" but we can disagree on that. I think overall, the show was very feminist (and appealed to a progressive audience), but it did have the courage to sometimes point out the way that actual human sexual dynamics and gender roles don't always follow the most reductionist feminist morality. The characters were feminists, but they were not ideologically pure - and that wasn't shown as a character defect.
@yoanastoyanova But they had plenty of partners who were good to them. We had Steve, Aiden and Smith. They weren't perfect and had flaws that clashed with the girls, but they had good aspects too.
Feminism stems from the flawed idea that women are not flawed and never need to take accountability. Sadly feminism has indoctrinated women into thinking that any critique or criticism of their bad behavior is “misogyny” and “sexism”. Women are privileged and never admit it. We want men to stay traditionally masculine and police men for any behavior we deem effeminate or “SUS” yet we aren’t traditionally feminine and call old fashioned roles oppressive! The book “the manipulated man” is on YT free and the writer got death threats for YEARS! Wonder why!!!
It makes me angry that so much is invested in this show. They gave it 2 seasons and clearly it is not working. Now they talk about a season 3! While shows like American Gigolo on Showtime with interesting, relatable characters struggle to make it to a second season.
They should have listened to Elsa and let it go when kim said no. Also don't hire a writer/ producer who is obsessed with bodily fluids and hates the fans and the show.
Carrie never should have been the main character. She's obnoxious, not engaging, dresses like a 4 year old on her first day to school, a horrible friend! Samantha should have been the main star and Carrie seen every so often doing her victim game.
They should just stop with mindless consumerism. That was a problem with both movies and it's problem with these series. They are not relatable because they are all super rich without any money issues and they are so into consumerism and mindless spending on luxuries. It's tone deaf.
the problem with this show is they're trying too hard, they create conflicts they never truly resolve, everything is glanced over. especially when it comes to che and miranda. they want to make che a heart throb, and they come off as straight up asshole! if this character was a cis male, non of them would put up with tlche's bullshit. everything about this show feels forced!
This video was spot-on. The magic of SATC is mostly missing in this reboot. But I feel like adding several new characters just to be diverse isn't the only main problem (though it is unclear why the professor (Nya) is even in the cast and Seema, while outspoken, only exists to spout Samantha-like comebacks but has no character development; LTW is glamorous but unlikable). My biggest criticism is how Miranda has become a total betrayal from her SATC character. Sure, people change and evolve - but this version has nothing in common with the Miranda we all knew. This one is insufferable (and Che is probably the worst character on TV). I sometimes wish that the reboot had just been Samantha Does London - with Kim and all new co-stars.
This. Like, I find Nya quite likeable but we don't see enough of her to make us care about her. Just short glimses here and there. She's the friend of a friend you sometimes bump into and have a nice quick chat with but never spend enough time with to get to know or really care about. Miranda is like a completely different person. Charlotte's way of talking is so cartoony it's hard to watch her scenes. And Carrie... Carrie was always kind of messed up and selfish, but she was at least a bit relatable in her flaws and she was never a snob. Now she causes people to lose their jobs, fakes having covid, makes fun of people she finds beneath her, emotionally blackmails her friends (how many times does she twist their arms by saying "my husband died"), even snarks at the idea of safe sex (!!), but has no relatable factor to compensate for her shitty behavior. Too rich, too glamourous, too snobbish, too disconnected from real life for that.
I wholeheartedly agree! I never was big into Sex and the City, but it felt fun and most importantly SEXY! Just Like That really seems to be spinning its wheels. The new characters do not feel well integrated into the show, and the original cast are annoying. I know everyone (justifiably)harps on Miranda’s character turn here, but what about Carrie? She was at least interesting, if destructive, in the original, but in this one she’s so bland and boring!
Carrie is so depressing and jaded here. Where in the zha zha zhu? SjP has become very humorless and self important in her older age. Sad she lost her sparkle.
I’m so disgusted with how Sarah and the show writers willing chose to portray the only Latino and non binary character in a such a negative manner while the Asian and black characters get to be cool/wealthy and have all sorts of redeeming qualities
AJLT is so...depressing for me. I miss the cheekiness of SATC. While I was unable to really relate for the characters, I found joy and laughter watching the SATC. The love between the 4 girls (ok I'm aware off camera they're not real friends, oh it sucks) and their experiences presented in cheeky manner. With AJLT, no joy was found, it seemed the show was mad at people or something LOL. I still was unable to relate with AJLT despite them adding 4 POC characters to the mix. I actually think Golden Girls is more fun to watch than AJLT, that's HOW BAD I felt over some episodes during season 1 (I stopped watching after a couple of episodes) and I haven't watched season 2.
Candace Bushnell and Darren Starr have been silent on this matter. The perception of Carrie Bradshaw has changed; people see that she is not loyal to her friends. She slut shames. To have a column that has "sex" in the title is quite prudish. But, the powers that be smelled money in the water.....and, Just Like That!
SATC is a show I religiously binge every two years because I love it THAT much. Meanwhile I can barely stomach AJLT. I basically watch it through my fingers between full body cringes. Simply out of a sense of loyal obligation to the franchise. I miss the humor, the perfectly flawed characters, the way that I could see parts of myself in every character in every scenario they are placed in. They might as well have killed both Samantha and Miranda. Miranda is a sham of who she used to be. Blundering, unintelligent, inappropriate, and pathetic. Samantha made into a villain. The spirit is gone. It's a cringe-fest now -- opposite of sexy.
I don’t have any idea, why screenwriters decided to get rid of mr. Big…It feels kinda artificial. How to explain…In “S*x and the city” movie, when he dumped Carrie on the wedding… Whole spectrum of emotions was so real: denial, anger, sadness, acceptance. And how touching and warming was to see a support of her friends. In “just like that” it was cold icy wall… That’s it. All other characters are living in their chaotic lives and scenes… Carry just became chilly and icy…Also you don’t feel connection with main character anymore. Maybe that’s why ratings are so low now? Other characters are “exploring”, but Carrie is just a mistery. Maybe we need to read her book, to know more…
WATCH MORE - One thing And Just Like That has going for it is a focus on fashion and how it relates to the character's lives.
I concur, the original Miranda would be disgusted at her older counterpart's actions, and would NEVER stoop that low.

Love this comment, well said-that would have been tremendously better 😢

Omg this would be perfect
Wow. We need you in the writer's room. Not only would they have to deal with their grief, but the three left behind would have each been propelled to consider how short life is and reexamine their own lives -- so many really interesting story possibilities there.
Your first suggestion would have made an utterly perfect series.
Wish you had been in the AJLT writing room.
I think AJLT focuses so much on what it thinks its younger audience want (tackling progressive issues and inclusivity) that it forgot what the original show was about: four friends who were each other's soulmates through the good times and the bad.
Well said
@@arlauroh no honey. They have a black writer on this.
you're spot on! too much diversity and everything is too polished

SATC was fun, the first season of AJLT felt like I was being lectured at by rich people
Hypocritical rich people
The writing and character arcs were so fucking out of touch. That’s why this vapid, unwanted, uncreative “show” didn’t land with anyone younger than 40 - Americans are struggling to pay rent.
Agreeeeedddd
Didnt Miranda specifically have a scene in a particular SATC episode where she "tried" to be a lesbian but in her own words and I QUOTE she was, "yup...definitely straight"
Also wasnt she the one who said Steve "BROKE US" by him cheating on her?
I remember that scene now LOL. Now she's fully gay or is she bi...or just fluid? Has her character decided yet?
Cinthya Nixon murdered Miranda’s character and overestimated how much the public cares about Che. 😂
Hypochondria is never funny. People died of covid
This is so perfectl true
Wait, so she's coming back for sure, or only for a cameo? Huh. They must offer her a LOT of money to show up, since she already said 'NO' repeatedly.
90% of reboots are bad fanfic.
One of the proposed plotlines for the third movie made Kim Catrall flee. Brady was supposed to sext Samantha 🤮
@@a23m.9 Yeah, she does lack substance.

I mean the new season has 0 comedy it is not funny no matter how hard it tries lol
It's a collection of afterschool specials rammed into a container that 's too small. They should limit it to one "issue" per episode
It may be terrible writing. The team might be not getting the original voice at all and maybe they’re beginners who that streaming network is giving a chance to…
I think it’s nice that they’re … trying… to capture what this age group is going through now and who they are now in the new world…
that's really well put @@lenawagenfuehr53
That's a really good way to put it
The show has become preachy. The wealth and extravagance is off putting. Might as well be the nauseating real housewives.
The show is just an add for a bunch of designer brands that got together to produce this crap, just like they did with the movies
They dont feel like human beings more like caricatures of their older selves
Not even. Miranda is not the same character AT. ALL.
AJLT feels like the try-hard menu from a restaurant that is more focused on announcing itself as cutting edge, but offers little substance, artistic expression, joy or feeling of community.
haha perfect description
It’s seems Samantha was right not to be in it 😂
JLT has lost the heartbeat/flow and humour that SATC had in spades.
I preferred the first season. The second one is just meandering.
The series seems determined to lionize Big, the obnoxious capitalist mogul-and to trash Miranda, the ambitious woman (by shitting all over the successful career and family life she had attained and now telling us that her life wasn’t happy after all).
Conservative propaganda much?
@@terry9238 interesting take
Oh no, that would have made it even worse.
The best shows of the 90's from Seinfeld to Martin to Living Single to Sex and the City didn't try hard to speak to everyone and that is what made them amazing.
you nailed it, thank you

Carrie lies the whole SATC series and in AJLT
I mean we always knew that Carrie’s full of shit
@@TDiamond00 It's one of her defining character traits. She'll rather lie than face things like a grown-up, even at the age of 56.

Not a lawyer nor have I been in the situation like that, just assuming what it could be.
this is not a social change. it is political and is disgusting. it is a parade of 1d 10 cy. get you and all the fr e a k parade out of here.
Nailed it. This show is bland and cowardly.
the main thing about "and just like that" is that, unlike sex and the city, it has nothing to say. it has no reason to exist. it's not the product of a writer with a vision and perspective and a human experience they want to share and explore. they just felt like rebooting it. they are trying to justify the reboot by including a diverse cast but that cast has nothing to do.
Omg yes
That’s it. That’s the feeling…
The show ended in 2004. Every characters in that show had a happy ending. I was frustrated that they did a spinoff. For me its like “here we go again”
For me AJLT doesn't exist because it's clearly a failure. It's a perverted parallel universe that means nothing) So my favourite characters got their happy endings and they all lived happily ever after)
This is why Film, TV & Streaming should leave well enough alone let treasured content rest everything doesn't need a spin off or a revival.
It won't as long as you can make money out of it.
I would prefer to watch a show that focuses on Samantha.
I would have too, but they "kinda" did this with a show called Glamorous. ( Starring Kim Cattrall)
I gave the first episode a try.. it has too many things working against it for me.
*rolls eyes"
So there is a show with her but no it's not Samantha.
They took the city our of Sex and the City
It's because the writers didn't watch the original series LOL
The moment they killled big, I knew it was going to be a drag
But oh well, it is what it is…
I think Sarah Jessica Parker has it in her contact to have these designer clothes. She is the darling of them!

@@marig9236 A hero I know I don’t watch full episodes but what the frick
To all the people who say it’s watchable:
It’s not about the fact that it’s watchable, it’s the fact that it doesn’t even live up to the reason of why the show was continued, some might even say it’s disrespectful to the memory of SATC.
Carrie and Samantha's conversation over text was the only time actuelly felt emotion while watching that season

Just stupid
For 1 Samantha gave it that fabulous class that the rest of girls don’t bring and 2 there was no need to make Miranda gay like what the uhh no
Honestly it's fine to me that she's gay now, but the fact that she completely lost her personality - that's a different story
Making Miranda gay is so stupid, she had already explored that in the original series and she had concluded that she wasn’t gay.
SATC was about interesting capable women. AJLT is about husks shuffling around in a world that has left them behind.
Jesus🤣
They say you write what you know. My guess is the writers are out of touch so it makes sense that the show comes across that way. It’s all questionable style and no substance.
It’s always been like that! SATC was based on Candace Bushnell’s book, which was based on Bushnell’s “lifestyle” column-which was a glorified advertorial for the expensive fashions and entertainments that Bushnell claimed she and her “friends” consumed.
And SATC continued in this vein, by showcasing “name label” products often. (These were obviously product placements-because if a storyline was really just about Carrie’s compulsive shopping, why would specific designers have to be named?)
Hence the constant mixed messages the show seemed to send.
@@lenawagenfuehr53 Candace and I have that in common. I think that whole storyline felt contrived. Loved the styling of those Paris episodes though.
OMG! You read my mind! They have 100000% lost the plot! It's beyond cringe-worthy and buh-bye to any dose of reality for the majority of people.
@@Ashbrash1998and Harry
Feminism stems from the flawed idea that women are not flawed and never need to take accountability. Sadly feminism has indoctrinated women into thinking that any critique or criticism of their bad behavior is “misogyny” and “sexism”. Women are privileged and never admit it. We want men to stay traditionally masculine and police men for any behavior we deem effeminate or “SUS” yet we aren’t traditionally feminine and call old fashioned roles oppressive! The book “the manipulated man” is on YT free and the writer got death threats for YEARS! Wonder why!!!
It should all have ended with An American Girl in Paris (Part Deux) .
It makes me angry that so much is invested in this show. They gave it 2 seasons and clearly it is not working. Now they talk about a season 3! While shows like American Gigolo on Showtime with interesting, relatable characters struggle to make it to a second season.
4:44 "Sometimes I bought Vouge instead of dinner, because I felt it feed me more." 😂
They should have listened to Elsa and let it go when kim said no. Also don't hire a writer/ producer who is obsessed with bodily fluids and hates the fans and the show.
I like the 4th episode, the humour, the characters and voice over, is getting back to its roots again :)
Carrie never should have been the main character. She's obnoxious, not engaging, dresses like a 4 year old on her first day to school, a horrible friend! Samantha should have been the main star and Carrie seen every so often doing her victim game.
Ché is the biggest problem!!!
It’s like every SATC main character gets in AJLT a diverse sidekick
God, you can just picture everybody working on this show just patting themselves on the back the entire time for being so progressive (for 2012)
Why was Carrie’s reaction to Big leaving her at the alter worse than her reaction to his death? It made no sense to me
They should just stop with mindless consumerism.
That's what they say: too much of a good thing...
@@Tenebarum Agree! Her sparkle is completely absent here
I’m starting to believe that this reboot just doesn’t exist. SATC is only the OG series & the movies. Everything else doesn’t count.
Sex and the City 2 doesn’t exist either
It's like the Godfather 3.
Yup I don’t treat it as canon 🤷🏾♀️
I’m so disgusted with how Sarah and the show writers willing chose to portray the only Latino and non binary character in a such a negative manner while the Asian and black characters get to be cool/wealthy and have all sorts of redeeming qualities
That Asian character is an unfunny joke and yeah they did you guys dirty with Che. Hopefully they turn Che around
@@nordette I would rather they leave Latinos out of it because they don’t seem to care to do things right
And just like that… Kim dodged a bullet.
