There are few players I like to listen to occasionally. Jaco is one of those. In them you always find something new. While you are listening to Jaco every single note worth and it is really felt. Every single one. Each version of any given jaco's song contains many different solutions. Always perfectly fitted. For this kind of player, especially for Jaco, I can't say where music end and where he begins. That is his power. That is his greatness. Best bass player ever walk the earth.
Happy 4th of July Jaco people! Always have to hear this around now. He’s all over the map on this one, a portrait of his current life at this time. So happy we have these videos of him, the best. Also really love his piano outro that comes just after this on the MEB video.
it's amazing to see his 1982 version, then his "perfected" 1984 rendition in japan, contrasted to this, a later version. the subtle nuances and differences really paint an intense character arc.
idk i'm very well versed with Jaco's work...i think this is very much on point. look at Hendrix's star spangled banner. it was a mess but a beautiful mess. this really isn't sloppy as evidenced by how it sounds without the visual. also, this is from a modern bass dvd where he killed in other sections like: ua-cam.com/video/3iWANJmerjI/v-deo.html

In fact he was under the influence when this was recorded. Have you seen the clip from this electric bass instructional video where he throws his bass to the drummer? He's baked! Very sad. I'm also well versed and a huge Jaco fan. Sad that him hitting bottom resulted in his death. Pastorius legacy lives on with Felix and David! Awesome bassists!
