Hi everyone!! I really hope you enjoy the video of the new scape 😊 I normally like to reply to comments when I first post a video, but I've got to go to bed. If you leave a comment I will reply to you when I wake up in the morning 😄 Happy fish keeping! EDIT: Wow, thank you so much to everyone for all of the lovely comments!! It absolutely made my day waking up to read all of the positive feedback. It means SO much to me, and I appreciate it so much when you take the time out of your day to write something. Thank you
Hello, if the Thropeus are eating algae from the smooth surface of the rocks, they are the sheep of Tanganyika, that is why I told you that the Bolcanica, being like this, was not the most suitable, but it is fine. If the calvus is Altolamprologus Calvus black (I thought about whether to have that or the mandarin comprissceps, all the Altos are very beautiful), there is also white, shell and the Altolamprologus compressiceps gold heat, chaitika, Mandarin... The Leleupi, over time, you will probably have to remove the others if they form a pair, they are very territorial and aggressive or the same, two pairs form two territories to see how it evolves. Perhaps some shells and some conchicola that were not colonial like Neolamprologus ocellatus, brevis, were placed in a corner opposite the rocks... I found it very funny when you say you don't have patience 🤣, the same thing usually happens, I'm a little more patient hahaha. Thanks for responding and bother with the suggestions. By the way, almost all people say that Tanganyika fish are more interesting or fun in behavior than Malawi fish. I won't give you any more blame and I'll put down problems that you're going to hate me 😅🤣 and thank you for reading me and I'm still keeping an eye on the evolution of the aquarium 🙂
Thank you Kaity! I was able to learn so much both from Jason's original river build and now from your make over! The tank turned out lovely! I'm still researching how I want to get back into the hobby and I have to compliment you. You are troubleshooting so much on your own I am so impressed. Also I'm learning quite a bit reading the comments - as well as finding it amusing how one person says the video is too short and another just right. Ha ha! And you handle it with such grace. You're an absolute inspiration!
@@GenXHeart thank you SO much!! I really appreciate that, that's really nice to hear 😊🙏 And that's also very exciting that you're looking at getting back into the hobby - I hope it goes well for you!! It's a great hobby to be a part of 😁
Wow, this is possibly one of the most beautiful scapes I’ve ever seen. It’s so different yet similar to the Malawi tank, each beautiful in their own way. I started my aquarium journey with a plantless tank, but was struggling with diatoms so much about half a year in that I decided to switch to a planted one. This particular scape has awaken my interest in hardcape tanks again!!
YAY!! That is so great to hear :D I really do love hardscapes, I think they can be so beautiful with the different types of rock and interesting fish. My Malawi tank had a lot of diatoms for the first few months running, but then eventually the brown was replaced by a green algae. I'm hoping the same will happen for this Tanganyikan tank too
Very nice upgrade. Wow, the hardscape is extremely beautiful, and the thickness of the sand makes the hardscape more natural. The fishes are poping and bringing life to the tank Thank You Very Much for the video
Thank you so much!! I really think these Waterbox tanks compliment a hard scape style well, especially because it gives it a bit more of a saltwater tank look I think too. I'm definitely finding that I'm appreciating the tank a lot more now with the more interactive fish :)
Yes that tank has grown to be gorgeous! It started out quite bland but after about a year the fish really started to fill up the tank and look more colourful
Sleep tight and Good Morning Kaity. The hardscape, sand turned out beautifully. Great choice on the lights, They really put a nice shimmer, and also brings out the colors on the well chosen fishy's as well. The tanks side by side complement each other nicely. Thanks for taking me on your journey. I couldn't think of any thing else that would make the tank look better. You have a nice imagination.
Katie, I think you did a very good job on your landscape and you're tank and I like your fish too. End all your shows that I've seen so far. Keep up the good work, Katie.
I remember my first 100 gal cichlid tank. I got it set up and was shocjed to see the price of gravel. I bought the cheapest acquarium gravel I could find, ajd barely covered the bottom with it. Later I added white pool filter sand. Now, i havw a 150 gallon cichlid tank that is 6 feet long. I moved that original gravel over, added 100 lbs of pool filter sand, and a big bag of lava rock. The lava rock is an excellent lightweight substrate filler. It also houses the bacteria that break down nitrates. It is easy to crush with a hammer.
Awesome job Kaity! Love the total look of that tank. The lights make it pop. This is why we keep fish. It can’t be a tough at times when you are setting up a tank but once you get it right it is very satisfying. Enjoy it!
Awesome Kaity... like the white sand and mix of black volcano rocks & the one with some crystals. The lighting on the top is amazing. Enjoy the video...
Your River Scape was a favorite of mine. Initially, I was disappointed to hear it would be dismantled. However, seeing what you created with that foundation is impressive. Nice job moving and concealing that heavy boulder. The black , the white, the colors all look amazing together. I agree, setting that last big piece of lava rock apart from the bank beautifully complemented the negative space, Thank you for sharing. 🐠
Thank you so much!! I'm so glad to hear that :) I knew a lot of people would be disappointed about the River Scape being taken down, but it makes me happy to hear lots of people are enjoying the new scape too. Thank you heaps for your support!
Looks incredible !! Sometimes you've just got to change things to make them what you truly love, theres nothing wrong with that. You did an amazing job
Thank you so much :) I definitely agree!! I think sometimes you've got to try new things to learn more about what you love, and be willing to change when needed
Love the new fish tank setup and really liked this kind of video! Your fish choice is also incredible, i really enjoy Malawis and Tanganjika fish keeping myself and seeing a person on the other side of the planet, loving them as much as me, makes me really happy. 😊 Greetings from Germany.
Thank you so much!! That's so lovely to hear :) And how cool you're watching from all the way in Germany! It's really cool getting to know the Tanganyikan cichlids better because other than the shellies they don't seem get as much attention as the Malawi's, around here anyway
Your new Tang tank looks fantastic, really well done 👍. Thanks for documenting it all, I really enjoyed watching the process. Seeing your tank makes me miss my wild caught colony of Tropheus moorii Mpulungu that I kept and bred in the past. One day I’d like to keep them again, they’re such amazing fish. Enjoy your new setup, it’s a ripper, and thanks for taking us along for the ride 👍.
Thank you so much Jamie!! 😁 I'm really glad you enjoyed it 😊 And Tropheus certainly are beautiful little fish! I'm really loving my ones and am looking forward to seeing them grow
Beautiful setup and great selection of fish. The only issue you might encounter is the Tropheus. They really are primarily a veggie eater with occasional small supplementation with a little protein here and there. So they may eventually develop bloat and die off due to their dietary differences from all the other fish you selected. They also are less tolerant to water quality parameters than the other fish. They need pristine water all the time. I was doing 60-80% water changes on my colony of Ikola’s twice a week to keep them happy. So they may be a little challenging to keep healthy amongst all the other tank mates. They are also EXTREMELY fast swimmers compared to the others and are hyper little beasts, so they will inevitably get the lions share of the food you drop in the tank which could also contribute to bloat. Very challenging fish. But I’m excited to watch the progress and see the results.
Thank you so much Jordan :D And oh my goodness, that's hectic!! I'm really glad I've got them with the sump then, because the pothos is definitely helping keep the nitrates down a lot. I really hope they do well as they grow, because they are such beautiful little fish. I've noticed them eating some of the algae which is good to see. They chow down on the Thera A food, which isn't a herbivore food, but it also isn't too high in protein, so I hope they will do ok with that in the long run
@@Kaityscichlids that’s awesome I love the pothos idea. Tropheus are a fantastic fish. Honestly everything you did from scape to fish selection is beautiful! You nailed it! I wish you amazing success with it. Keep up the great content! 💪
wow great job just watched to the end and you have done a fantastic job with the look of the scape of the tank, love the lava rocks, great choice of fish, well done,

Thank you! I love looking at planted tanks, but I definitely think if they're interesting and colourful fish hard scapes can be super beautiful yet simple too
I absolutely love the new scape. You did a wonderful job. I especially love that lava rock. Great work and thank you for sharing your journey with us. I turned out great. ❤❤
That looks great Kaity those lights give a great shimmer in the tank and the contrast between the rocks and the sand look fantastic 🙏 also the smaller rocks you have added around make it pop too nice job great video
Amazing Kaity! You did awesome. The rebuild and video are fantastic and the challenges with rushing certain parts etc.. are so relatable. You rock, and I guess literally rock also lol. The tanks and content are great. Keep up the great work, and I think follow your instincts with all of it. Your channel is a gem.
If you want to add a few shell dwellers to the sandy part of your tank they just add that little extra and are fun to watch dig out to bury their shells and they only take up a small space being smaller fish
Ok that looks as good as your big tank 😮! Tanganyikan communities are so interesting and fun to watch 🐟🐚🐟🐚🪨‼️great video and beautiful tank Kaity 🤩 also great rock selection, lava rock is great for aquascaping
Thank you Joey!! Hearing it's as good as my big tank is like music to my ears lol. I really wanted to try create something that had similar characteristics in terms of being a vibrant/active tank like the Malawi setup. I'm really enjoying how interactive these Tanganyikan cichlids are too. Thank you heaps :)
Nice. I’m slightly disappointed you didn’t keep the river scape, but I know you like the Africans a lot more. I think overall it turned out well. It’s different enough from the other tank to be interesting too.
Yep. By the way, Chemi Pure Blue works much better than Purigen because it eliminates the need for UV filters. Also, a 100- or 50-micron water polishing pad works better than Poly-Fil because it captures green water algae whereas Poly-Fil doesn't. Hope this helps.
Beautiful scape and you put in lot of hard work in setting it up. Reminded me when I got into the hobby 2 years back. Doing & redoing things and learning along the way. I learned this trick to glue hard scape only few months back😁. Great job 👍🏼.
Thank you 🙏 Yes it was a lot of hard work, but well worth it in the end! 🤣 And I went so long without realising people glued hardscapes together too lol. It certainly makes things a lot easier
Outstanding video as always! I found your channel a few days ago and I have been hooked on your content. I just set up my 75 gallon Cichlid aquarium and I am super excited to get tips from your videos! I think it would be really awesome if you made a "parts/equipment" list with all of the products you use on your aquariums such as filters, lights, pumps, wavemakers, heaters, ect.
Thank you!! I can most definitely make a video on that! I love being able to make videos that are helpful for others, and this helps me get ideas on what I can post. I really appreciate it :D
Okay, this will probably sound crazy, but I really like the way the light was reflecting off the water and making patterns on the ceiling when you had the lids off. If I were sitting on the sofa while that was going on, I'd be mesmerised. As it is, the light plays really well in the tank, even with the light on. I'd have to say that it was a very good choice to change out the lights.
I 100% agree!! It was something I didn't fully appreciate on the Malawi tank until I changed the lights over on the Tanganyikan tank and realised how beautiful the glimmer is that the AI Primes create. I think it makes a huge difference!
Tolle aquaristische Läden mit sehr großem Angebot an Hardscape für die Beckengestaltung! 😉 Dein Aquarium hast du echt super neu und sehr naturnah gestaltet! 👍
Lovely tanks, I think you should find another peninsula tank, And set it up just like that one have some finer sand in it though, for a Princess cichlid only tank. You will love the way they look after there babies. Keep up the great work.
Thank you!! I think I'm definitely going to need another tank at some point! I'm hoping to be able to get my own place one day with a bit more space so I can start expanding more in the future
This is so amazing 🎉 I’ve been looking forward to this so much. Great tribute to the river aquarium, it was awesome too and you did so much to promote nature river scapes and can see how grateful you were. Sadly when we don’t have aquarium galleries like Joey we occasionally have to sacrifice some types of aquarium, but it’s important for our enjoyment of the hobby to keep what we love 🥰 You did such an amazing job, overcame many tricky things with the rocks and lights, but you were so resourceful. I’m super proud of the achievement, when you couldn’t move the rock I wish I’d been there to help but in the end you didn’t need it! Amazing, so happy for you 😊 Hope you got some good sleep you deserved it 😂
Thank you so much!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it :D I knew lots of people were waiting for this video, so I really went on the grind to get it out this weekend, and definitely had a great sleep afterwards lol. And yes, VERY true! It was a great experience having the river tank and learning so much about native fish, which I knew nothing about. Plus this current scape wouldn't exist the way it is right now if it wasn't for that! It's cool how life works out that way sometimes :)
Thank you so much!! 🙏 I wasn't sure how it would look at first but I definitely think mixing the smaller bits of dark rock into the white sand helped it have a good mix of contrast and blending!
congratulations thats a great scape. Love what you did. Id be happy with that in my house. I reckon you should do a make over and get some more holy rock for the malwai tank

Loved watching the process of converting this tank. You did well!!! 👍💯👍
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Great video, your new tank looks ace, very natural, I feel compelled to do mine now.
Thank you so much!! I'm glad it gave you some inspiration 😁
great to see brisbane aquarium content producre! love mad aquariums, love the stores u visited . great video
We are so lucky here to have such great stores!! Thank you heaps :)
You do some really cool videos.
Keep going and have lots of fun.
Hope to see lots more.
Thank you so so much 😊🙏
Looks amazing! Can tell you’re a lot happier having cichlids in there.
Thank you! Most definitely, they are so much fun to watch 😊

Thank you 😁❤️
Another awesome video Kaity, love the new tank you did an amazing job 😊
Thank you so much!!
Great job kaity. Thats a great hardscaped u made it based on natural habitat of your fish choice congrats.
Lovely tanks, I think you should find another peninsula tank, And set it up just like that one have some finer sand in it though, for a Princess cichlid only tank. You will love the way they look after there babies. Keep up the great work.
Thank you!! I think I'm definitely going to need another tank at some point! I'm hoping to be able to get my own place one day with a bit more space so I can start expanding more in the future
very awesome video what a beautiful tank and aquaescape great pickup
Thank you so much :D
Your welcome anytime my friend
Absolutely beautiful project,nice tank,fishroom👍😀
mad aquarium employees bringing in good vibes 👍
They most certainly are! 😁
Awesome kaity
Thank you
This is so amazing 🎉 I’ve been looking forward to this so much.
Amazing. I am setting up a Tanganyika tank as well. Keep the videos coming.
Yay for Tanganyikan cichlids!! Thank you heaps for the support :D
I really, really like the new set up verses the other one! Great job!
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you like it :D
I'm not a freshwater person but watchubg your videos make me see the beauty. Will the fish in the new tank be as colorful as your other tank?
@@wesleyforbes I'm hoping so!! Especially with the Tropheus, they should colour up nicely as they grow bigger 😊
Fantastic, it's inspiring me to look into doing a tank like this myself
Yayyyy, that's awesome! 😁🙏 I think you most definitely should hehe
Tank looks great, I typically use black sand however love the contrast of the white sand with black lava rock.
Thank you so much!! 🙏 I wasn't sure how it would look at first but I definitely think mixing the smaller bits of dark rock into the white sand helped it have a good mix of contrast and blending!
Well done! Its a stunning tank.
Thank you 😊🙏🙏
It's my favorite tank now love it
Yayyyy, that's so great to hear! I'm glad you like it 😁
Wonderful video as always. You have a great talent .
Thank you
congratulations thats a great scape. Love what you did. Id be happy with that in my house. I reckon you should do a make over and get some more holy rock for the malwai tank
Thank you!! I'm actually considering that! I wouldn't mind doing a bit of a rescape on the Malawi tank at some point
@Kaityscichlids yeah I think you should put your new, improved scaping skills to use, K. Wow us!! 😀
Well done Kaity! Your tank looks beautiful 🐟
Thank you so much!! I'm really glad you like it :D

Wow 😯 so amazing 🤩 😊
Stunning ❤
Thank you 😊🙏🏻
@@Kaityscichlids your very welcome hard work paying off 😊
Nice video!
I learned the hard way to always wear gloves when using that glue.
Thank you :D It seems like everyone ends up gluing their hands at some point when using this type of glue lol. I'm glad I'm not alone
