This is not unusual,I've been camping and caravaning, over 50 years, some folks go out of their way to be tossers,It's the trend, also there is a type that will steel from unattended tents etc,be warned,we becoming a more disrespectful, and unpleasant society,SOME,people go out of their way to upset..such is life.
The same happened to us 2years ago, Bryn Lian, near Aberdaron the owner said we were noisey, I am 76 and my wife was 80. We are caravaners and we had paid for the season what a spiteful person the owner turned out to be Simon the owner have me a refund the following morning , I was mortified that we had to pack up and leave, We found another site a few miles on Ty Mawer, the owner was brilliant Roy Jones sadly he as passed away recently.
I retired to Clacton on Sea 21 years ago, after having an Eldis supersport? touring van on a permanent site locally for 10 years previous. Sadly we sold the van when we purchased a bungalow very close to the beaches. Years rolled by and we found by reading the local newspaper that some trouble was caused by "traveller types" In big motorhomes parking on the seafront road for weeks at a time. This caused the local district council to put a complete ban on ANYTHING parking overnight there. This led to so bitter motorhomes complaining they could not park. Now, our local areas have more than plenty camping sites for motorhomes to buy pitches at and hookups. It seems different areas have different rules .I am no longer well enough to drive far but have happy memories of towing big vans many miles for holidays.
I live in Maryport and we are Campervan owners too. There's been quite a lot of local discussion about vans using the beach carpark for free and some mention of putting up height restriction gates. There is no real reason for this because there have been no problems of rubbish being dumped, human waste being found - nothing like that at all, it's just bitterness from a small number of residents. So can I ask that people who camp here use the local facilities as much as possible? On the main road in the town , going towards Workington ( SW ) there is a petrol station opposite a B&M and a Lidl. There's easy parking for any size van at Lidl, many people of larger vans park on the service road rather than in bays but some people carefully park at the far end of the bays, which is fine also. The more benefit people see coming from van users, the better. As for the beach parking, it's great there when the weather is calm and there isn't strong wind off the sea. In storms or strong onshore wind, however, this is not the place to be. In the video at 1:27 you can see the vans on what used to be a tarmac parking area but all that was wiped away one stormy night and the waves have been known to clear the wall at the top of the slope ( also shown on the left of shot at 1:27 ).
Thanks for your constructive comments. We will be back to look around. Unfortunately we were not able to on that occasion but we did use a local shop, fuel up and go to Lidl.
Visited Maryport 15 years ago. My impression is that the authorities had tried to spruce up the water front as they do in many coastal areas but the town looked rundown and sadly not appealing.
My husband and I live near Carlisle and have stayed in our campervan in Maryport. We love Maryport! We visited a lovely pub one night and a fabulous curry house the next. The lifeboat station and the Aquarium were both brilliant places and we will be going back. We stayed in the Marina which had a fabulous cafe - the breakfasts were amazing! It’s a lovely spot and not anything like as windswept as Silloth. ❤
Don’t these people have any idea? It’s visitors to their sites and towns that bring in much needed revenue. Had a similar experience this year at Skipton castle with belligerent staff who laughed behind my back as I left, totally unprofessional. Happy touring.
Absolutely right there doesent look like a site I would visit . Is nothing more than a field without boundaries .seems like she going through pmt or something my friend and like rottweilers they attack anything in site . Hope you found yourself a proper site with better amenities and some easily accessible electric. Good luck
There's lots of farmers diversifying into camping and hospitality and you can't blame them for that. But thanks for your comments. I know some people put videos up as 'click bait' but this wasn't such a video. We were just dumfounded.
Personally i can't stand site's that don't have dedicated clearly marked pitches.....it just invites idiots to camp within feet of your doors even though half the site is empty .
Yes, and this is one such, particularly on the grass area, which when we booked was the 'only area free' however it could have filled up after we left. On this occasion we did not know whether it was clearly marked or not before arrival, common sense would suggest it would have been but the pitch numbers were across the other side of the roadway possibly about 6 meters away. Thanks for your comments.

Thanks for your comments. It clearly happens.
Well done for naming and shaming
Did we actually name a campsite?

What a miserable site with poor customer service. Avoid. Spread the word.
Yes, quite a strange experience and one we have never encountered before. Thanks for your comment.
I thought they should provide card payment. Insisting on cash only is a bit unfair.
MARYPORT on a warm sunny day is fantastic lots of gems to find
Sounds like one to miss how rude

Yes, although we did not venture into the town. It was a quiet night which is all that mattered! Silloth is perhaps so much better in our view.

Quite a good video in many ways.
We sold our van for essentially this kind of reason
You must have had it far worse than us.
AVOID AVOID AVOID
Thanks for the Video ,I will avoid.

Thanks for your comments. I do wonder how things will be in another 10 or so years...
Shocking Behaviour. I hope This Site Suffers as a result.
Wow that motorhome is fast!
I guess you mean the speeded up video!

Come to Bethesda rugby club your more than welcome to £10 a night 👍🏴
That's a great offer and a great advert! Thanks.
Sounds like these people are in the wrong business! There's more to running a campsite than just providing a field with a few facilities.

Will now avoid this place
It could be very good. It's a great location.
Avoid these tossers and this site at all costs …..hopefully this will cause them to close
Habitation door
Is a common way of describing a motorhome's entrance door to other than the cab area.
Grim
That’s why I don’t stay in campsites ! Never did .
Some are really good. We've done a mixture of sites and offgrid and never had an issue until then.
Hooligans
We shan’t be going there then
