    the difference between pro drummers and amateur drummers is that pro drummers are able to explain what they are doing, plain and simple. Stanton is a huge breath of fresh air. He deserves every bit of success...

    YOU are AWESOME..... I see I commented before, I just really dig watching your RHYTHMIC ideas. Your sound is so tight and your sticking is so inventive. Thanks for posting all these great videos.

    for that last rhythm, i was half expecting him to put the stick in the tambourine hole and still incorporate the cowbell. that woulda been awesome

    I read "demonstrates his sick techniques" in the description, but actually that's correct as well :)

    What is the sticking for the New Orleans "waller & co"(?) groove from 3:45 onwards? Is it a one or two bar pattern? I can hear the RH accents on toms but cant work out the order in which the filling notes are played. Any help be great :)

    • @ketjus
      @ketjus 8 років тому +2

      I think its RLLRLLRL x 2 and only the last pair of LH is played on the rim. Think 16th notes. So you get R (L) L R (L) L R L and R (L) L R L L R L. Hope that makes sense. :)

    The kick is dotted quarter - dotted quarter - quarter. Or a 3+3+2 rhythm. Or the 3 part of a 3-2 clave. However you want to look at it.

    that sticking at 0:40 can be used with the song Unchain My Heart - Ray Charles

    Regal Tip "calato" makes an hand-borine that make's incorperating a tamborine much easier. Check it out, ive been using it for years.

    on kick it is one-car clave - otherwise known as 3/3 clave. it is a fundamental second-line groove.

    it's not his technique that is sick. don't take me wrong. his technique is awesome but it's his groove that makes him one of the best drummers. how he grooves with such simple patterns like LLPL PLPP.

  • @Moregano

    I really like sound of tambourine
    Good lesson but stanton seems sad. Like he promised to shoot this video on a certain day but his puppy died last night and hes doing to his best ability but has that sadness underneath. I'm not , repeat not, saying that happened , he just seems sad is all. I like his groove and videos.
