Still it has left some interesting idea´s dangling in the movie. for example it would have been interesting to see more interaction between Murphy and his wife. And Murphy's state of mind after he told her that her husband is dead.
Frank Miller: "I'm really disappointed with how Robocop 2 turned out. The bastards at the studio really screwed up my script." Studio: "Hey Frank, would you like to do Robocop 3?" Frank Miller: "Boy, would I ever!"
@BloodbathMcGash I think he does. Right before Duffy gets sliced open. He tells Cain and Hobbs that they were going to throw away the key with him and that Sgt Reed gave him $#!+ they don't show or clearly state that he does. But that's just my guess off that interaction.

That is a great scene, action packed, and very horrific. That is the scene that terrified me as a kid, and it has stuck with me all these years later. It hits my heart in all the right ways a movie like Robocop is supposed to but it was just a little too intense during my childhood. I can re-watch the scene now and not feel as terrified as I did back then but I would still be scared as hell.

I'll admit I wasn't crazy about it when it was released, but over time I came to appreciate it a lot more. The main story and the sub-plots were very well done. Every time I watch the first one, I have to watch this one right after.
I had such a blast rewatching this movie a week ago. It didn't have the same sad themes like the original movie but due to how overall apeshit the plot was I just can't help but love it either way
I really liked the mayor in this flick...a great comedic performance. I love the scene where he's done talking to the press and is waving his hands in the air calling them off...hilarious!
Growing up I always contributed the cleaner looking city due to the Robocops effect on public moral; making them feel safer and so slowly spreading the peaceful feeling.
It was already in my mind before you said it. RoboCop 2 does seem to have a blue tint to the armor / RoboCop robot suit, whereas in the first movie it did seem as though it was more gray or silver.
Same here, I love the first two Robocop's. Both are still watchable today. The third is true trash and totally unwatchable. I like reboot though. I am glad it went in a different direction and brought something new to the genre.
I loved the colour change in the suit it’s got an iridescent shine to it, oh and as for the streets looking less gritty and rundown from the original I just put that down to the streets being safer now they have had Robocop patrolling them for a couple of years..
I'm a featured extra in this film... the guy with the mohawk that's the first person you see injecting Nuke after it fades out of the police strike news story to the street scene.

The habit Hollywood has of making sequels more "kid friendly" has ruined a lot of movies. Also it is stupid since most of them were fine for kids to begin with.
That is a tragic death, especially for such a young character, and it's not something movies did back then, especially in horror, even if Robocop isn't a true horror film. It was, and is to me, especially as a kid who thought the actor looked like a family member, a shock to see in the movie.
My friend played the guy with the mohawk in the opening sequence. Someone spotted him and thought he had a great look and said, "ya wanna be in a movie?"

ROBO-CAIN: I'm the new cop in town! ROBOCOP: You'll be retiring in a few minutes ED-209: You have 10 seconds to comply ROBOCOP: Haven't I retired you already?
“RoboCop 2” had some good themes but went nowhere with it. The stuff involving his wife that was left totally incomplete. I remember when it first came out, people tore into it because of this kid-assassin in the movie. I think this was during the time where news of juveniles and violent crimes were rising and leaking from urban to suburban. This was during D.A.R.E, “Just Say No” and heavy-handed “special episodes”.
I just happened to catch this on TV after not having seen it for probably over 20 years. I feel that people don't often understand the difference between satire and comedy, and think the two terms are interchangeable. Like how people heard that 'Scream' was a satire and went into it expecting a comedy. Part 1 was a satire, part 2 didn't understand that type of humor and instead went for goofy comedic elements and characters.
Hopefully you might cover the 2014 Robocop re-make, perhaps how it contrasts to the earlier movies, or whatever, but would love to see a review on the 2014 Robocop movie, your thoughts on it, etc.
Your final thoughts about enjoying the movie just for itself is exactly what I always say to people who complain about the writing and acting in action movies: "What did you expect---Shakespeare?" I watch movies and TV shows to be entertained and the only complaints I usually have is the farfetched notions the writers and producers have about things---plus totally implausible plot devices (stuff that makes me drop right out of "suspension of disbelief"). You have your finger on the pulse most of the time, Mark!
The idea of Robocop befriending an A.I. was in the Liveaction TV series which aired a couple of years after Robocop 3. Plus, the distopian Detroit city was used in the Robocop meltdown trilogy of straight to DVD movies in which Murphy's son is now a full grown adult and a board member of OCP.
One of the directives given to the "more friendly" RoboCop was, "I will attend all Orion meetings." Also, isn't that the best use of cassette tape holders ever?
Hob (the kid) when he knows he is dying repents, in front of Robo, although I can imagine him saying he was "sold out" by Cain, I thought it was more the case that a villan kid didnt belong in a film like this, and at the centre of the story, as this was already a much nastier offering than the original. there was a trend for kids in 18 or 15 rated films at that time, such as TERMINATOR 2 where it worked much better especially the symbolism, the children are the future.
I would think the blueish color of the armor was intentional, it had that iridescence more like anodized titanium than the painted silver armor in the first movie.
I have read Miller's robocop 2 comic version. And even though I the second Robocop movie is not as good as Verhoeven's 1987 original. it wasn't nearly as bad as Millers comic version.
I read it too. What a mess that was. Especially visually. I just couldn't make out what the giant evil robot is supposed to look like. I just remember lots of screens on his face and that's it. The rest was just whatever drawn on the pages.
I'd like to see Minty review the Canadian miniseries "Robocop: Prime Directives." It slightly follows the outline of "Corporate Wars" where the timeline has progressed and Murphy faces personal crisises as both his former partner is sent to kill him and his son has grown up to be an OCP executive.
That series was terrible. Robocop was a lot shorter than in the movies. And walked like a wind up toy. And when he takes off his helmet, the mechinacal parts underneath don't look anything like it does in the movies.
Thank you for these videos 🥳 Got a few requests: Dirty rotten scoundrels Citizens band/ “Handle with care “ ( this movie was filmed in and around marysville California, my hometown)
I preferred Robocop’s armour in the first movie it was more fitting of the dirty gritty crime infested atmosphere of Detroit City, but the problem with the sequel is the atmosphere was even more dirtier and grittier than the first movie yet Robocop’s armour looks brand new like he just stepped off the assembly line.
How about a vid about “Leap of Faith” Minty? It’s one of my favorite Steve Martin movies plus it has Liam Niesome, Meatloaf, & Debra Winger. Such a great movie.
Robocop III was actually very good in my opinion. I hated that the villain in Robocop II was a child with no redeeming qualities. Kevin in Home Alone was not sadistic just for the hell of it. Like he said, 'This is my house. I have to defend it.' In addition, Kevin never intended to kill Harry and Marv, just disable them from breaking and entering. Home Alone is rated PG, Robocop II is rated R.
If you cut out all the cheesey bullshit and the parts with horrible dialogue, this movie is decent. A big issue I had with this film is that they changed the dark, gritty tone and layout and instead made things almost cartoonish. So much of Robocop 2 was over the top and ridiculous in an attempt to make up for the lagging plot and poor writing. The first film kept things simple but made them more interesting with better writing.
@@DialloMoore503 yeah. Some of the dark moments are good. And the character moments with Murphy are good. Because Irvin Kirschner is a great director and Peter Weller is a great actor. But the script is terrible. And the other dark moments are so over the top they stop being relatable and become outlandish and ridiculous.
I never understood why Robo 2 always copped hate, for me and my friends it was an epic sequel. Also when you consider this movie arrived to cinemas in 1990, two years before Terminator 2, I feel you the viewer can easily reference where J Cameron got some of his influences for particular scenes.
T2 was released in 1991, but I also saw some influence in Cameron’s film. The chase scene with Cain in the armored vehicle looked similar to the flood channel chase in T2. Also, the climax when Cain’s face on the monitor is ripped away after he’s defeated looked similar to the T-1000’s demise in the lava. Could be coincidence, as productions for both films probably overlapped each other.
I always thought the fact that the sequel was a little cleaner in terms of the set and environment was trying to tell the audience that RoboCop had helped clean up the city. Am I the only one who read into that?
If you slo-mo the scene where dozens of prime directives are uploaded into Robocop, you’ll see one that says: “Avoid Orion Meetings.”

Still it has left some interesting idea´s dangling in the movie. for example it would have been interesting to see more interaction between Murphy and his wife. And Murphy's state of mind after he told her that her husband is dead.
My dad took me to the set in Houston, Tx when they filmed the finale. It was awwwwesome.
Frank Miller: "I'm really disappointed with how Robocop 2 turned out. The bastards at the studio really screwed up my script."
Studio: "Hey Frank, would you like to do Robocop 3?"
Frank Miller: "Boy, would I ever!"
@Mike MCbain Define "HollyWeird" - my wife call that the part of Hollywood that is full of homeless people
You sold us OUT, Officer Duffy!
“Your a rotten cop!”
Always wondered why Murphy didn’t arrest his ass he had a confession
@BloodbathMcGash I think he does. Right before Duffy gets sliced open. He tells Cain and Hobbs that they were going to throw away the key with him and that Sgt Reed gave him $#!+ they don't show or clearly state that he does. But that's just my guess off that interaction.
We all know it was Cain and his gang who flagged the video in the first place.
Lmao
Minty should show him who's boss🤜🧠
@@bigkmoviesandgames he already has. 💪

I love RoboCop 2. My favorite part is when the meeting is going down and they unleash Cain on them in that warehouse thing, freaking awesome as hell. Cain was such a cool ass design too.
I loved how Robocop 2 had that 90’s look and feel to it.
So as soon as it turned 1990 all of a sudden it had a 90s look and feel to it and not more like the years preceding it?

Minty I’m glad you found a great platform to get your own niche to. It’s hard to find a formula that UA-cam creators haven’t tried to copy so I’m glad to see you have this corner covered!
I'll admit I wasn't crazy about it when it was released, but over time I came to appreciate it a lot more. The main story and the sub-plots were very well done. Every time I watch the first one, I have to watch this one right after.
Robocop 2 was always my favorite, growing up. Seeing this movie as an adult, only solidifies my love for this movie.
A re-upload? I buy that for a dollar!
Another great intro like your first Robocop video. That song is my jam. Strong
I literally just watched this movie and thought “ I wonder if Minty did a video on this?” lol
🤯
I do it the other way round I watch Minty and then I watch the film .
a very good sequel underrated stellar cast.
The original will always be the best but 2 wasn't half bad tbf I love them both but 🤫🤫we don't mention the 3rd or terrible god awful remake
What about the Canadian mini-series RoboCop: Prime Directives, or the TV series?
@@FlyboyHelosim they wasn't to bad as a kid now I just shudder when seeing them
@@FlyboyHelosim however Canada will always have a special place in my heart because of reboot
Same here, I love the first two Robocop's. Both are still watchable today. The third is true trash and totally unwatchable. I like reboot though. I am glad it went in a different direction and brought something new to the genre.
@@UndergroundMonk was going good till you mentioned the nasty lame remake aka robot husband
Ah Minty! UA-cam King of Re-Uploads!
It's okay, Minty. Some of us appreciate your efforts.
Once again, nice one; Minty.
This movie freaked me out when I was a kid, with Cain becoming that machine
That was a horrific scene when his disembodied brain and eyeballs was watching the doctor holding his butchered head in her hand.
@No One's Innocent Nope thats in the thatrical release.
I loved the colour change in the suit it’s got an iridescent shine to it, oh and as for the streets looking less gritty and rundown from the original I just put that down to the streets being safer now they have had Robocop patrolling them for a couple of years..
This movie scared that fuck outta me. Especially the vivisection scene.
I'm a featured extra in this film... the guy with the mohawk that's the first person you see injecting Nuke after it fades out of the police strike news story to the street scene.
Thanks for acknowledging re uploads. It seems 3/4 of your videos are re uploads lately. It's nice to just know at the beginning vs wondering, didn't I see this from minty already? Thanks.
What really got me was that Gabriel Damon (Hob) was also the voice of Littlefoot.
Nineteen ninety, Chubb Rock jumps up on the scene
With a lean and a pocket full of green
The green doesn't symbolize I made it on the top
But Robocop last year was a shock
Classic.
1:03 They don't know Cain's age, yet he's been arrested for murder 6 times, 47 counts of disturbing the peace and he was a veteran in the amazon war. lol
I remember seeing that Smoking PSA in theatres when I was a kid
I find myself clicking on your 10 things you didn't know about movies I've never seen. Needless to say they are very interesting and I end up watching the movies. Thanks for your hard work on making these videos MINTY.
The habit Hollywood has of making sequels more "kid friendly" has ruined a lot of movies. Also it is stupid since most of them were fine for kids to begin with.
Corporate greed ruins a lot of movies in general, but sequels more often.
That warehouse attack really shook me with its brutal, graphic violence back in the day.
I always loved Hob and wanted him to live, but they did give him some redemption.
Also, his folding machine gun was dope as hell.
That is a tragic death, especially for such a young character, and it's not something movies did back then, especially in horror, even if Robocop isn't a true horror film. It was, and is to me, especially as a kid who thought the actor looked like a family member, a shock to see in the movie.
This is still my favorite out of the three! Fantastic job on the video!
The best thing about Robocop 2?
It wasn't Robocop 3.
My friend played the guy with the mohawk in the opening sequence. Someone spotted him and thought he had a great look and said, "ya wanna be in a movie?"
Wait, how are you going to miss that the actor who played Hob was the voice of Little Foot in The Land Before Time?
He was also the boy on TNG whose Mother died on an away mission and some Alien pretended to be his mother.

Congo
Hackers
Cherry 2000
Better Off Dead
Blood Sport
Thank you for your consideration. Stay classy.

Hackers! Yes.... Blood Sport as well.
Well, he just recently got to Better Off Dead. So there's one from your list. 🙂
ROBO-CAIN: I'm the new cop in town!
ROBOCOP: You'll be retiring in a few minutes
ED-209: You have 10 seconds to comply
ROBOCOP: Haven't I retired you already?
The kid villain was one of the best parts of the movie.
It's an fantastic sequel. 😀👍
I don't know if you have covered it but: "Space Truckers"
I just saw it for the first time, crazy crazy.
I love that film. Dennis Hopper is always worth watching. No matter how stupid the film is he always gives it everything.
Great movie
Pull starting scene was the only reason to watch that. Ok movie, but that made for a great laugh.
Space Truckers is awesome.
Cool video as usual Minty, love your work, could u do a video on Action Jackson
Hopefully you might cover the 2014 Robocop re-make, perhaps how it contrasts to the earlier movies, or whatever, but would love to see a review on the 2014 Robocop movie, your thoughts on it, etc.
You got your wish. 🙂
In all films original colour of body armour was blue, it's stood up in the second installment because of different camera filters that they change
UA-cam forces you to pretend to like their censorship.
Always a pleasure to watch one of your videos, 👍🏼😎
One of the directives given to the "more friendly" RoboCop was, "I will attend all Orion meetings."
Also, isn't that the best use of cassette tape holders ever?
Glad to see you’re doing well Minty! Following from Canada!
80s kid here the second one is just as much a classic as the first period.
“Smoking is not prohibited” ……. Didn’t think you meant that 😝
I came here to comment about this!
RoboCop: Peace Officer.
(Perps 🔥 fires at RoboCop)
RoboCop: Think it over, creep.
(RoboCop shoots Perp)
I would think the blueish color of the armor was intentional, it had that iridescence more like anodized titanium than the painted silver armor in the first movie.
I think it was to reinforce the fact that the armor was, "laminated Kevlar and titanium."
I always thought it looked great.
It's blue as a reference to his police uniform lol
Also a deleted scene you didn't mention was when the crooked cop gets cut open and killed there's more to that scene that was also deleted.
@@chamoo232 Exactly.

Tom Noonan was everywhere for a while - this, Manhunter, Monster Squad, probably others I'm not thinking of.

10 Things You Didn't Know about Bounty Hunters or Bounty Hunters 2 Hardball loved both movies
Prime Directives may utilize part of the unused story... and so does the regular TV series (at least the pilot episode anyway)
That series was terrible. Robocop was a lot shorter than in the movies. And walked like a wind up toy. And when he takes off his helmet, the mechinacal parts underneath don't look anything like it does in the movies.
@@MrPleers oh absolutely. Terrible. For a lot of reasons.

Got a few requests:
Dirty rotten scoundrels
Citizens band/ “Handle with care “ ( this movie was filmed in and around marysville California, my hometown)
Agree but his armour was pretty much useless by the end of the first film
Last summer the local drive-in showed both movies together. I stayed for the Robocop 2 and enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
When I was a lad. Kane used to scare the crap out of me

You use sound B from the video game Terminator 2 didn't you:-). Totally awesome, two thumbs up, love your videos keep it up Merry Christmas.
I wholeheartedly agree
Sequel also had its dark moments. I felt Murphy’s pain.
Robocop - Awesome!
Robocop 2 - Not bad
Robocop 3 - Why r we still here just to suffer..
The music was rockin I think movies from this area were the best.
The music score in this movie was ok, but it couldn't hold a candle to that of the first film.
RoboCop 2 = "...Temple of Doom" (more violent than the original; also more downbeat)
Yeah watching it as a kid the scene where the Cain gang perform the awake surgery on the corrupt cop was particularly grim!
I always thought the fact that the sequel was a little cleaner in terms of the set and environment was trying to tell the audience that RoboCop had helped clean up the city. Am I the only one who read into that?
