Thank you so much for this detailed video! Got my RGB30 (first retro handheld) and a week later, JELOS is no longer currently supported. Just my luck! This guide to switching to ArkOS was exactly what I needed. I think my biggest struggle was unzipping the files in the correct format for RUFUS to format my SD card.
This was extremely helpful. I was able to use my 126gb rom SD from my RGB20S in the RGB30, I just had to download the ArkOS RGB30 specific OS file to a new SD.

So in this video they would be 7zip/rufus/ArkOS. The others are really just addons and should definitely be separated from the first group to avoid viewer confusion. And preferably, the video should also be in this order, so setting up the device should come first and then you should explain about roms/Pico-8 afterwards. Great guide nontheless.

Does ArkOS use the same folder directly structure (including images/video scraped media) as JELOS? I'm running JELOS at the moment but considering switching to ArkOS because of the better N64 emulation but don't want to set up everything all over again!
Was hoping you were going to go through recommended settings per emulator. For instance integer scaling / 4:3 vs 8:7 etc. Is that going to be a separate video?
7:31 thanks this part really helped out! i couldn't find the advanced setting pretty sure usually with arkos there was a way to do this from the main menu start button settings maybe there was some layout update. just got my two rgb30's had very low expectations on the hardware everyone says it feels cheap i actually like how it feels 🤣the quality is much better than rgb20 which i also enjoyed but the shell on that one felt pretty cheap
Note to people who, 1. wants to do the one card method and 2. like to fast forward and skip steps like me 😅. You HAVE to put in the sd card before you start putting your roms in. I thought I could just name the unallocated space EASYROMS and drop all of them in there but no haha. The system will make the EASYROM drive with all the different folders to put your roms and bios in.
Update...problem solved cuz flash step not done correct ( used rufus) ArkOS on my system but still no sound. The link of jelos on the side (rgb30) solved my soundproblem. Now i have sound but a old layout. thats fine for me. Clean video all work fine till arkOS download. I used your link. ( same if i go direct on the side) Mega link download normal the other win cry no image no data vol. Well after extract with 7zip i get one folder...click on folder say image data broken. ( i think win is unable) Any idea for a solution ? Do i have to use rufus to downlload ? ( sry this is bit I dont work with rufus...a noob question my side)

I tried this for 2 hrs and the RGB30 always goes to a black screen when I insert the ARKOS sd card right after imaging it. Its not the brightness issue either. I tried several imaging apps too. I'm probably never buying PowKiddy again. I reimaged it with JelOS and it worked fine the 1st time.
I just got my rgb30 and loving it I'm on the fence changing it to arkos do think performance-wise it's a big difference The one thing I notice is when I'm going in and out of games on the jelos it's very slow do you think switching to Arkos would improve it
So I have an issue, after im done downloading ARKos on the system, it does the firts load up but after it does the second bootup I'm stuck on a black screen, is there something that I'm doing wrong, or is it just because the second card isn't set up??
I own a pk rgb30 for a week now n have no sound @ all. I think it is a jelos problem on the mssd. Upgrade dont change. r3l3 also dont...deactivate activate sound again dont change. Last retro console i build self with rp pi4 joystick buttons n a alu Champain Box from veuve clic. I build two n a friend n i play epic arcade rounds. Back then i used retropi n it worked well 90%.. Ps emulator was total broken n rare working...no problem we played most amiga atari n arcade we know from the childhood. Very nice programms we have today...jelos isnt bad but not outworked now. ( my op.)
the best set has quite a few rom folders that don't align with the ArkOS structure. Folders such as, TOAPLAN, BANPRESTO, CAVE, IREM, KONAMI. Do I just put all these roms into the arcade folder?
I got one. I proceeded to almost immediately manage to delete the favorites folder that was showing up on the screen with the systems. I dont know how to get it back :(
Hello, having a terrible time screenscraping my Pico carts in Jelos. I a running a RG353V Ambernic handheld. Using screenscraper app online and logged in. Only been able to scrape a couple of them. What is the secret to it? Do i need to change the games metadata file to match the actual naming? You would think screenscrape would be smarter, thank you for your help!
Any advice I got arkos on mine can't get on the menu for psp Emulator which is thre standalone one i think is ppsp. I press the r3 both left and right and the only thing is does is load game and save game can't get into menu options for the emulator any advice? Thanks
@@SHIPARCHWow mines the total opposite! JelOS has already froze/crashed for 3 times over just 2 days of owning the RGB30. ArkOS on my 353M has never crashed in the months I've used it

Hello friend, how are you, I wanted to ask for your help urgently, can you make a tutorial on how to recover the games and emulators on the Powkiddy RGB30? By mistake I factory restored the Jelos system but I forgot to remove the memory that had the roms and I lost everything, I was only left with the Pico 8 but without anything else and without games, please help me, I don't know what to do...
Took me a min, but I found out I just need to make a new file called zzzsplore.p8. The zzz was what I was missing. Put it in the carts folder and be sure you have the pico 8 software and not Fake-8.
Maybe someone here can help me, Snes / psp / dreamcast etc are working fine. Psx - retro arch and duckstation dont see many games in bin format - bios is present for psx on second sd card in folder bios. Why I cannot see other psx games ? why only 1 game on list dont start and instead only psx bios browser starts ?
@@JoeysRetroHandhelds Hm I've done what You said - cue + bin in one folder in psx dir. Safely unmount sd > put sd in slot > turn on Sys loads and at 2 loading dots goes black screen and stays there. If I turn it off - pull rom card away - turn on - system loads over and over and will not go into os. Weird it was working 10 mins before. EDIT : so rom sd card got damaged - win dont see it - propose to format - Ill clean it - put all collection again. And see if OS on rgb30 will load seeing all roms etc BRB
Not sure what's happening with your device, but since I don't have one anymore, may want to try the discord in my description for further support. They'd likely have a better idea!

They're just roms, Roms are never device, platform or anything specific.

the no sound issue is it boots up the system with sound muted just press r3+l3 to unmute

Hello, do you know how to remove the decorative strips at the top and bottom of the screen? I'm looking but can't remove them
I was following this guide with arkos on the rgb30 but it seems to freeze a lot after updating in the menu...
i accidentally deselected all game folders now it just shows a loading screen loading over and over again please help
alr man quick faq, why do we need the roms in the TFOS sd card when we clearley turned on the option "switch to sd 2 for roms"?
After flashing the card with rufus and putting it into the rgb30 it just stayed black and nothing happened

Me too and with a green light too and then I flashed JelOS again everything is run fine. The JelOS doesn't has to use any a luxuary SDCard. 🤣
I tried to changed SDcard to SanDisk and the problem has solved!! I tried fake and real card, the real SanDisk can installed arkos. 😂

In the advanced tab it says vram limit, since the device has 1 gigabyte of ram is it safe to set it on 1000MB? its default is 150

One 256GB and one 512GB card would be great for this Handheld.
You just need 16 or 32 GB for the OS then knock yourself out with your ROMs card

Arkos crashes on my 353V all the time, it’s also extremely unpolished. Jelos works flawlessly on the same 353V and RGB30.

I ended up resetting Retroarch which fixed the sound issues, though it deleted all but one theme. @@JoeysRetroHandhelds

Splore missing from pico 8 folder. Anyway to get it bk?

You need the cue files with the bin files.

Nah just use a 16gb card for the os and a 256gb for the roms. More than enough
32gb is cheaper than 16gb in a lot of cases and 256 is unnecessary.
I agree with Joey because you won’t need that much storage for a device like this.
Cant even fill the 128GB. Well I can but then I would fill it with games that play better on other systems
