Usually I don't tend to like distortion pedals but this one sounded tighter than that one time my dad tied my shoes when I was four

I like that you test products out using equipment the way we old metal guys know metal and hardcore properly. I think the modern metalhead likes an extremely low-mid forward metal sound, which works if you’re someone that uses a really low gain sound or djenty riffs, but it’s not everyone or every style of metal, and I think you’re kinda bringing back the sounds we grew up with. Keep it alive🤘🏻🤘🏻

What did you guys think? $99 for US made Wampler tones seems like a win to me! Find the pedals in my affiliate links in the description above!

Definitely dig mr Wampler, his designs and his pedals overall. These are for sure a great value at $99. I would believe it if they were even $50 more.
Also not sure if you mentioned it but under the bottom cover, there are a couple of dip switches that change the toggle switch.

First video where I've seen the distortion pedal sound good (no offense to Mr. Wampler, he's just not a metal player 😂). Very tube like on your demo..

On Brian Wampler's demo he said the Triumph is basically a Bad Monkey mixed with an SD-1. Strange but rad combo.

These remind me of how much I love my Tumnus Deluxe. Their layout is basically the same. No idea what's inside either pedal, but it's always nice having that 3 band EQ to help shape the tone, and keep the low end intact!

    • @ck2music712
      @ck2music712 Рік тому +1

I've got the Tumnus Deluxe, it's actually based on the Klon, BUT has more gain, especially with the "HOT" switch... I run mine pretty hot, and I use it where most people would use a Marshall type crunch... But you're right, Wampler's EQs are usually always ACTIVE, which means you can ADD and take away frequencies (regular "passive" EQs are just filters and can only take away) and they're almost always designed to be able to give you "more than you'd need" in Mr. Wampler's words...

I really dig that distortion & love that it can be cleaned up with the volume on your guitar. It doesn’t sound “typical” either.

The Triumph may well be the best OD for driving a Mesa that I have yet heard. Brootz for daze!

Would have been great to hear them compared to the Triple Rec they were sitting on top of. There were moments where I thought the Phenom sounded slightly 'amp-like' but you never really know until you compare it with an actual amp. Regardless, even though the Phenom is going for 5150 tones (apparently) it would be very revealing just to hear the difference with a real dirt channel. Anyway great work as always Kyle!

Both sound decent and the price is good. Always find myself never bonding with a distortion pedals though.

Run it at 18v for more headroom. I find any pedal that can do 18v sounds much better that way.

These are a bit more simple as well. I don't really need a pedal with an extra boost channel like the Triple Wreck, I used to own one, great pedal, just a little overkill for what I needed it for. Just give me one switch to push, I am a moron with bad coordination.

I was excited to get these pedals for Christmas, but was disappointed because they're not what I expected. Guess it's because I play thru a Line 6 Spider IV. My Boss OD1X and DS1X blow these Wamplers out of the water (thru my amp)

  • @slayabouts

Would have liked to see you alternate between punch and smooth at each setting just to hear the actual difference, just sucks they’re not output matched which sounds like a major design flaw or even like you got a faulty one lol
And you also didn’t run the overdrive into the distortion pedal, so you’re fired.

Dude, I need these pedals! How many watts are they? Are they carbon free? Frequency responsible? Can they get me the EVH "negro sound?" Asking for a friend

  • @musiconyourowntermspodcast6128

Very clean sounding pedals....good demo too.
