NEW FORD BRONCO HARDTOP - WIND NOISE - HOW BAD IS IT? - MANUAL SASQUATCH - 2 DOOR BRONCO - MIC TOP

- As soon as my wife took delivery of her 2021 Ford bronco badlands, with the 7 speed manual (6 and a crawler gear), we were immediately impressed by the large amount of wind noise inside the vehicle at highway speeds. This definitely took some getting used to, as neither of us have ever had a jeep, or anything like this before. The new ford bronco 2 door with mic top kind of came as a surprise as to how loud it was. At the same time, I definitely understood that it would be somewhat loud, as the roof is pretty much just a fiberglass bucket.
Regardless of the noise, we love the bronco, these trucks are just a blast. Super fun to drive, they look super neat, and actually ride really well considering how short it is. -Ford, you nailed it.
2021 Ford Bronco Hardtop, Badlands trim, 2.3 ecoboost, 7 speed manual transmission, Lux package, OEM sasquatch beadlock wheels and 35" tires. (DIY manual sasquatch) highway drive and review on cabin noise. This new bronco does have the MIC hardtop, with optional headliner. Using a sound level meter to best display how loud the new ford bronco can be inside. This is just my personal opinion, based on this particular 2021 2 door Bronco hardtop. Overall, I find it to be pretty loud, even talking on the phone, the person on the other end can really hear the road noise.
This ford bronco is equipped with the sasquatch wheels and 35" tires.
It is a 7 speed manual trans, with the 2.3L ecoboost. The F-150 in the video also has an AT tire on it, so road noise between the two should be fairly similar. Hopefully there is some takeaway from the video, I know it's not the most exciting thing to talk about, but definitely something you should consider before buying one of these new ford broncos. Check out my other videos for a bronco 1" leveling kit install DIY, and some other quick tutorials.
Stay tuned to see this bronco get a full high speed polish, and ceramic coating, Removal of the factory flares, and more.
If you have a bronco, would love to hear what YOUR bronco hard top is like. I'm assuming some are much better than others.
Let me know in the comments below what you think, if you have similar experiences to share, or what you would like to see next.
Thanks for watching. Cheers!
I was going to buy a bronco but now i'm going with a rolls royce. Thanks for the informative video
🤣
😂😂😂
Wish they had an option for a non-removable top
They do! It’s called a explorer
Thank god i rented a bronco before i buy it, the wind noise was a deal breaker for me, it can’t be daily driven, i’ll lose my mind over time if I bought it. I wish the 2023 comes with an unremovable top.
That was really helpful. I know most convertibles, like Miatas ,with the top down around 80db so this is less than half as loud. Which ain’t bad.
Glad you found it helpful!
Yup, one of the first things I noticed as well on my 2022 2-door Wildtrak was the excessive wind noise at highway speeds... And I also have a ten year old F150 (2011) that seems like a luxury car in comparison from a wind and cabin noise perspective. Both have ecoboost engines and 35" AT tires so it *should* be comparable in overall cabin noise levels, but not even close.
But yes, I like it anyway...
I have 2 door Wlidtrack. With the leather seats you get carpet flooring. I think it may help because I'm not complaining.
Two weeks ago I finally received my 2 door WildTrak with sound deadening hardtop, and on the highway the wind noise is definitely loud. I wouldn’t compare the noise to my husband’s 2016 F-150 with a leveling kit and 33” tires because his cab is one solid unit that isn’t removable where the Bronco is 3 sections. I think fair comparison should be made w/ a hardtop Jeep.
But, yes, like I said, I 💯 agree it’s loud AF at highway speed. At least it doesn’t leak!
No leaks is a big plus for sure 🤣. And yeah, a more apples to apples comparison definitely would have been a jeep. Just trying to show what we were used to, to how this was. We've never had a jeep, or similar, so it was a litttttle surprising? But not entirely as obviously there will be compromise with cool features like being able to remove the top!
Do a road noise test with a Jeep hardtop to compare
Dude, great vehicle video! Most helpful... im still getting this machine!
I drive with the music at 21... so I never even knew there was wind noise haha. Great comparison though! And I like how you joined the silly camera hat youtuber group hahaha.
Man... What a "thing" the headgear is 🤣
Great video, very helpful
Thank you! Love seeing comments like this. 🤙
I’ve been really enjoying your videos, the way you work and actually torch to spec. You should make a video on trail or something like that.
"Imagine driving all the time just like, UUUUUUUHUUHUHHUUUUUUHHHHHH"
Muppppppyyyy, "sorry if its not your preference, but this is a one take deal. Ok!?" hahaha
my wife and I drove a hard top bronco a few weeks ago and we were both quite surprised by the wind noise. we were both checking to see if a window was cracked open or something. it wasnt that it was really loud, it was just the type of wind noise, like a hissing type sound is the best I can describe it. We had previously test drove some jeeps with hard tops and the jeep didn't have the same wind noise around the top as the bronco. We had planned on getting a bronco until we test drove one. we are getting a jeep instead.
Compared with FCA vehicle quality, I will accept the wind noise
I was expecting you to compare it to your Corvette at WOT! 😂 That Bronco is pretty noisy. Another great video man. Keep them coming!!
I have a 2 month old 2022 Bronco 4 door Wildtrak with less than 500 miles on it. I found the noise very soft compared to what you are experiencing. However, I had the dealer add the OEM roof rack and Rigid 40" lightbar. It is back in the shop today to see what is going on. The noise level at 55 miles per hour is unbearable. I should point out Imy Bronco has the headliner in it as well. The OEM factory roof rack is very low profile. Whatever it is, I told them to take anything they put on it off until they eliminate the noise. I just want my Bronco back to the same level of noise that it came with from the factory. I trust my dealership service department and I know they will resolve it one way to the other.
thanks for the vid!
Where is the pudding? Your right, its in the proof! Great video!
The decibels are in the pudding! B b b b b boiiiiii!
Yes, my 2 door MIC is loud, but I don't think it is as loud as yours even at 85 mph. I was going to say, the stock B&O is not going to cover up road noise at 10-12 volume.
Now, my Miata had a removable hardtop and was dead silent by comparison. There is no excuse for the noisy MIC top other than excessive cost engineering (which has bit them in the ass).
The soft top is crazy loud
OOOOO WINDY
Full media boiii here hahaha
I tested a 4 Door Bronco last week the wind noise was horrible! Wrangler JL is a Lexus compared to it! Would love a new Bronco but the noise is excessive.
Had a bronco for a week and sold it for this reason. Completely unacceptable sound level.
I have a 2023 Big Bend and I have no problems with noise. I love it in fact, the seals are fine on ALL my windows, and I travel on the noisy 401 everyday commuting to work. If your ears are that sensitive, perhaps an EV is a better fit for you. This is a 4x4 after all...
You have a 23, I'd imagine and hope they did a much better job on the seals and noise since the first run of production. I'm not saying I hate driving it, just noting it is very loud. This however, is definitely not the loudest vehicle we own. Lol
I have a 2021 Silverado crew values at $10,000 more than I paid for it. I’m considering trading it in for a 4DR Bronco soft top but you this noise issue is my concern. I’ve also seen videos where people can put their hand through the soft top and top of the door from the flex created on highway speeds.
Yeah, I've seen some issues with the soft top aswell. Overall, these things are super fun vehicles, like I mentioned in the video, I feel the noise is just one of the trade offs for the versatility of the roof design 🤙
Is the noise truly from wind, or tire noise? I wonder if a tire swap would help a lot? An interesting test would be the F150 with the same brand/model of tire as the bronco, or vice versa.
The Bronco does have some road noise from the tires, but not enough to be a bother. Most of the sound at higher speeds is from the wind noise. -I Definitely agree, would have been neat to have the exact tire, the F-150 has wildpeaks on it, so they are still an off road tire, but the Bronco has the oem Goodyears, which are a totally different animal.
It's not the tires, it's the wind noise.
Full media boi
Soooo…. Just thinkin, if you get it without the sound deadening and put the dynomat on and do a cloth like covering over the dynomat, would it cut enough sound to justify such an endeavor? Time invested wouldn’t be a big deal cost might not be worth it though.
This is a great thought. There is no question Dynamat works wonders, but yeah... Would it be enough? Not sure. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they come out with a pre cut kit for it!
I’m planning to get a bronco, can I say play the radio or a music will over take the wind noise and i will no longer be able to hear it?
You will always hear the wind noise, just the way these things are built... But don't get me wrong they are a fun truck! Loud music definitely helps.
I have a two-door hardtop 2022 Outer Banks with B&O sound system. Turning it up around 18-20 on the dial completely masks all the wind noise.
Why not do soundproofing ! It works
This has the factory "sound deadening" but yes. Dynamat or 2 layers of 1/2" drywall would really help.
I have a 4 door I dont have this issue
It's your tires
No, It's the wind. Lol
@AtlanticBuilt prove it
I think a real comparison would have been a 2dr jeep with a hard top to compare apples to apples. Removable tops are naturally going to be noisy.
Yeah, wasn't the best apples to apples comparison, just what I had to work with. Figured it might atleast help some people with "regular" type of cars or trucks, looking to get into a bronco.
Mostly tire noise! I got my bronco 3 months ago four-door Outer Banks with Sasquatch and soft top and you can really hear the tires but it does not sound as loud as yours !!
Tires make a huge difference, my Milestar Patagonia M/T's are pretty damn quiet, especially when you consider that they are a mud/terrain tire. I had driven in a 2018 Toyota Corolla with louder oem road tires (particularly bad tires).
You want quiet buy a luxury car , I bought a 22 bronco I don’t think the is bad at all since its a removable top
Yeah I hear you. There's always compromise. I feel they could have done much better on this thing though.
Just got mine and my ears hurt 😢
I have had 2, a 2022 soft top and then a 2023 Hard top. The noise over 50 on both was and is terrible! Ford?!!! Ugh. I love my car but it sucks on the freeway.
I knew we weren't alone here! They're super fun rigs but yeah, definitely noisy. I feel like my friends soft top is quieter than our hardtop 🤣
@@AtlanticBuilt i sent this link to my husband. Maybe he can make some magic happen. It seems like Ford would have made some updates by now. Everyone has this issue.
Can barely see the reading
For those of us who still drive CJs and YJs with hard tops, we’re like...”yeah, and?” My Jeep YJ w Hard Top maxes out at 64 MPH. With constant downshifting and having a good radio it’s part of the Jeep karma lifestyle. I imagine my new Bronco will be like driving a space ship compared to what I’ve got now.
Hahah this is true! I never really thought about this side of things before she got it to be honest.
I have a F150 4x4 with off road tires, and going 70 mph, driver and passenger can't really talk. I believe there's more tire noise than you think.
Valid! In person in seems quite clear but very hard to capture, definitely plays a role i'm sure! My F150 just has wildpeaks on it.
It really depends on which tires you are running, I am running Milestar Patagonia M/T's which are a hybrid tire, which is rather quiet on the road - even at Texas freeway speeds (up to 85 MPH).
People cracked me up! If you’re worried about noise why the hell did you buy a bronco with a removable top? people act like this is some luxury vehicle!!!! If the noise drives you nuts spend some money on a bad ass sound system and stop crying!! The reason they don’t use KO2 35 inch is because the road noise increases! The wrangler tire is significantly quieter at 35 but the KO two at 33 is quieter than the wrangler. The bronco is not built for speed but for four wheeling at slow speeds.
Not crying, just sharing what I found, so people know what to expect. It's my wife's "fun" car, just figured I'd share my experience.
My apologies that was not directed towards you specifically. I was trying to answer to multiple people lol
@@jon5045 All good man! Totally get where you're coming from! 🤙
as I said before, you know nothing Jon. how old are you? 12? or maybe employed by ford? this wind noise thing is a real issue and a legit complaint. what is your problem dumbdumb?
I heard the soft top has less wind noise but its loud in traffic
I could see that. Friend of mine has a soft top, said the wind noise isn't too bad at all.
