    I’m new to your channel today. Happy to find a UA-camr closer to my age. I’m 72 and need to lose -20 lbs. Currently I’m doing the WW diabetic plan but I also count calories. I need to add more fiber daily. Thanks for the reminder. Exercise is very important. Congrats on your loss. That’s wonderful! 😊

      Thank you so much and welcome to my little UA-cam community. For me, fiber is so important. I have always had issues being regular and the older I get the worse it seems to be. Since I started paying more attention to my active calorie burn and understanding why the is important it seems the weigh loss is more steady albeit still very slow. Hugs!

    I am 73 years old and 5 feet 1 inches. I lost 72 pounds since July 2023, I went down from 183.8 to 112 pounds. I’ve always walked and did upper body weights, but after my hysterectomy and some health problems, I gained an excessive amount of weight when my husband got sick 2006 and passed away in 2014. I went from a size 14/16 to a size 4. I use my fitness pal daily even to maintain my weight, It helps a lot ❤instead of walking 3 miles every day, I walk 4-5 miles 6 days a week, and I use 2 15 pound weights 3 times a week for my upper body. I do get” don’t lose any more weight”. You’re too thin and right now it’s not a compliment. I went into my postal store to mail my estimated taxes yesterday and the guy I have known for years said oh can I ask you something? Are you seeing anybody? and I said no why and he said oh I thought that’s why you lost all the weight. I just started laughing. I’m like I don’t lose weight for anybody else but myself.😊 I guess the road is paved with somewhat good intentions? But it is just disheartening when people are telling you you’re too thin now. August 7th went back for my yearly never told my doctor I lost all this weight and I thought she would have a negative attitude after I explained everything I did. She was writing everything down to share😊 mind you I left that doctors office last July after gaining another 10 pounds in two years and was determined never gonna be that overweight again. The only medication I was on was 10 mg of Avastin, which she took me off😊 all my blood test came out perfect my colonguard, perfect, I am the epitome of health right now. I am going to be 74 in November. I still weigh myself once a week, but I really don’t take much heed in the scale. I am still losing weight but very slow weight. I did go to a dietitian because of it and she said it’s because I am burning off so many calories a day but she also said I am doing intuitive eating, which is a very healthy way of life, I hope this helps somebody that’s watching. I eat fiber one cereal every other day and I also take fiber gummy‘s every day plus Chia seeds every day.. from someone who went to one bowel movement a week to every other day it truly helps me.

      Wow, your story is impressive and very motivating. Thank you for sharing it. Fiber makes a big difference for me as I have never ever been regular. It has always been a struggle. I am loving my pool swimming and water aerobics but the key is find an activity you like and just do it. Just take that step and keep moving. I bet you feel great!!!

    I lost 27 lbs (all i needed to lose) by switching to a low carbohydrate diet. No products, no supplements, no jabs or pills, no expense, no exercise program, just the right decisions in the supermarket and at meal times. I only eat between 7am and 7pm. Minimal hunger pangs, and the only difficulty is when eating out as dishes without bread, rice, pasta and potatoes are hard to find on restaurant menus. It's great when i strip off to take a shower, it's nice to be able to admire your body at age 74 .

      That’s awesome. I am moderate low carb. Can’t do low carb as when I did Keto I had issues. The amount you eat and the amount you move makes all the difference.

      Hi Monika, I am so glad to have found you and a community of active seniors. I'm a 73 years old retired American teacher. I have lived in Tanzania East Africa for the past 13 years, starting international schools. Currently I am recuperating from hip replacement surgery so I decided to research the diet plans at there. I hate feeling deprived and am an emotional eater. Fortunately, I discovered the Mediterranean lifestyle. I bake my own breads, make salad dressings, and refuse any processed foods. You look fantastic and I hope to take it off slowly too. My plan is to start walking everyday as soon as my hip heals. Thanks for tge inspiration. Eleanor❤

    You must be so happy that you found what works for you.
    I do workout and have for years and try to eat a healthy diet. But I was so discouraged wirh my last blood work which showed my cholesterol had gone up. I do not want to go on a statin so I've been eating mostly plant based and fish. Lots of salmon. I'm due for a 6 month redo of blood work and if the numbers haven't lowered I'm stopping at Mcdonalds😂

    • @MonikaBeautyandLifestyle
      @MonikaBeautyandLifestyle  2 місяці тому

      I hope your numbers gate better too but some people have cholesterol issues even if they are not overweight. LOL I do miss Wendys but if I really want to stop there I will. I was never a fast food person so if I did stop it might be like every 6 months or so. Stay positive!

    What do you try and keep your calories at? 1200?

    • @MonikaBeautyandLifestyle
      @MonikaBeautyandLifestyle  2 місяці тому +1

      No, mainly because I usually do an hour of swim/water exercises most days and I also walk around every hour. My resting calorie requirements is around 1200 a day and I usually burn another 800- 1200 active calories a day. So for me I am around 1800 on a normal day. That said I do not deny myself treats. I just get up and move, walking around the house or dancing in my living room. As long as I move.

    Hi Monica! Did you set your own calorie deficit or have someone help you with that? I haven’t been able to make the scale move (but I do feel more muscular; I lift weights 3 times per week, but I haven’t been able to walk consistently because of various issues with my feet, etc). I am almost 68 years old. How long before you started seeing the scale reflect your effort? I feel like I can’t go any lower on my calories; so, it seems that increasing my activity dramatically is the only solution. It is so frustrating! Congrats on your success; your persistence and consistency sure paid off.

    • @MonikaBeautyandLifestyle
      @MonikaBeautyandLifestyle  2 місяці тому

      Hi,
      I figured out how my my body needs to maintain weight and how much I need to lose weight. There apps and formulas that calculate that for you. You put in age, height, weight and activity level. When you work out your burn more fat but gain muscle which weighs more. I wanted a slow weight loss because at 70 my skin is saggy as it is and the more I lose the worse my face looks. I also noticed that if I ate more when I worked out I lost more weight. We swim a lot and that works the whole body. I also have foot issues and that has limited my walking down. My weight has come off slowly but my clothes started fitting better within a month or so. I ended up taking my measurements and focused on active calorie burn and that made the biggest difference.

    I’m surprised you don’t take extra calcium and vitamin D. I’m 66 and take 1500 mg calcium and 1500 of vitamin D. This came about after I got a not so good bone scan.
