Fellow torbay person here. Kieran from paignton nice to have another torbay person. Have they got the Xmas lights up in brixham paigntons are very dissapointing.
@chucky2316 hi,yes the lights are up in Brixham but they are not great probably no better than Paigntons, gone are the years when it was good displays interesting Bay
@chucky2316 yes your right about Torquay, bottom end only no locals venture up Castle Circus these days, not been to Buckfastleigh for ages but Totnes is good as usual.
Nice peaceful day as you say. The Christmas tree looks taller this year, possibly😼. Loved your opening shot of the bird bath, they really go for it once they decide to bathe😽. 😺
Yes, taller, but a lot thinner - not much width at the base - but its a case of be grateful for what we have - Better than nothing :) Yes, the birds love that birdbath 👍👍👍
Watch your video's every day over coffee with my hubby Frank from here on Vancouver Island Canada. One thing that I would like to know is how Polly Steps, The Ness & The Den got their names. Also when you are on the back beach you point out a pink cottage who lived there. Keep those video's coming
Hello to Canada ! Glad you both enjoy my daily wanders! So, to answer your questions - 'The Den' from Saxon word 'don' meaning a dune, down or hill - The Ness - From the French word 'Nez' - French for nose... The pink cottage is where one of my subscribers, Pamela White grew up, so I give he a mention... As for 'Polly Steps' - I get asked this question a lot, so please excuse the 'Copy/Paste' Answer: How did Polly Steps get its name??? Well, it's basically just a place name (No Steps) but: According to local stories, 'Polly' was the wife of Admiral Pellew (1757 / 1833) of Bitton House, who had the steps built so she could meander down to the water's edge... That area would have been at the bottom of the 'Garden' of Bitton House (well before the railway) so that kinda makes sense... Thats the 'Story' though - However, upon further investigation, that doesn't quite hold up, as her name wasn't 'Polly' - But I like to think that was the reason - Or perhaps Polly was a 'Pet Name' he had for his wife... Likewise, another subscriber suggested that 'Polly' may have been a local pronunciation for 'Pellew'... Again, quite possible... 👍
Hi Bill, well the back beach seems to have survived intact thankfully. In today's Bill's Phone Teignmouth, we have a bathing bird, 2 hungry swans and a whole squadron of seagulls. You're not after a remake of The Birds again are you Bill? Anyhow see you tomorrow mate. 👍👍👍
Feels like that sometimes - In the video I shot today I was talking about a subscriber I met on the wall, who said he thought he'd seen a peregrine falcon... My first thought was, No! I'm not starting to feed that as well ! 🤣 See you tomorrow 👍
Swans try run out town bill lol On 5 December look like 175 on way to laira loco return 10 .29 am Teignmouth bill . Not 100 percent bill earlier today 175002 laira to Newton Abbot
