- Cap-Haïtien is a city located on the northern coast of Haiti. It is the second-largest city in the country, after the capital, Port-au-Prince. Cap-Haïtien serves as the capital of the Nord department and is an important cultural and economic center in the region.
Some key points about Cap-Haïtien:
History: The city has a rich history, dating back to its founding in 1670 as Cap-Français by the French. It played a crucial role in the colonial history of Haiti and was the capital of the French colony of Saint-Domingue before the Haitian Revolution.
Architecture: Cap-Haïtien is known for its well-preserved French colonial architecture. The city has historical landmarks and structures that reflect its past, including the Cathedral of Notre Dame, the Palace of Sans-Souci, and the Citadelle Laferrière.
Economy: The economy of Cap-Haïtien is diverse and includes agriculture, commerce, and tourism. The city's proximity to beautiful beaches and historical sites makes it a potential tourist destination.
Education and Culture: Cap-Haïtien is home to educational institutions and cultural events. The city hosts festivals, music events, and has a vibrant arts scene.
Transportation: The city has an international airport, Hugo Chávez International Airport, which facilitates travel to and from the region. Additionally, road networks connect Cap-Haïtien to other parts of Haiti.
Challenges: Like many parts of Haiti, Cap-Haïtien faces challenges such as poverty, inadequate infrastructure, and vulnerability to natural disasters.

The countryside is OK concerning security. The airport and the streets in Port au Prince are not safe. Cap Haitien is the best way to go. However, do not go now. Thanks for stopping by.

This is horrible. The government let Okap be a slam like Port Au Prince. I don’t see any future for Haiti. This is so sad that Okap is as filthy as Port Au Prince. No hope
Okap still has a chance and guess what even PortauPrince still has a chance. I saw the situation in both cities and I did not believe that our problems can easily be fixed. First, we need a government. Second, help the population by placing big commercial dump sites where they can throw trash away and get picked up later on. Third, education, that supposed to be number one but since we cannot build a school on top of trash, so trash has to go. 4th, jobs. 5th, once income is generated, tax follows. And we can just add everything else in any order. I just have headache thinking about it. I drove in all South America countries and yes Haiti is the last on the list... Thanks for stopping by, I need a saridon pou tet fe mal sa.
