- In Lost Odyssey the player takes control of Kaim, a man who has been sentenced to live for 1,000 years. Gameplay revolves around the many generations of which Kaim is a part of, his loves and losses and conflicts of a world nearing a "mystical industrial revolution". Lost Odyssey's story is being penned by the award winning Japanese novelist, Kiyoshi Shigematsu who is working directly with the game's producer Hironobu Sakaguchi on the story sequences. Heading up the artistic demands of the title is famed Japanese comic artist, Takehiko Inoue, while famed composer Nobuo Uematsu has been recruited to create a more contemporary soundtrack. Mistwalker is developing the title, with cooperation with a studio named Feel Plus, a subsidiary of Microsoft created specifically to aid Mistwalker. Former Square employees at Microsoft are also involved. It has been confirmed that the game will come on 4 Dual Layer DVDs, making this the largest Xbox 360 game to date.
Imagine you're short and you start up your car with your friends inside and this starts blasting so you have to pretend that you listen to classical music regularly.

+CCTV9 Yep. It got mediocre reviews due to the random battles and turn-based battle system... which is precisely why I wanted to play it, and glad I did. Sold my 360 though, and this is the one game I miss (the rest are mostly multi-platform).

Very late, but this version is the one where you fight the Khent Soldiers and the Heavy Tank at the very start of the game. The rest of the game has that little part cut out.

I love how this is actually a battle theme that doesn't get on your nerves like SO many other games! Actually, I'm so happy to hear it when I do. Makes the random enemy pop-up a little more fun :)

Agreed. That's why I didn't like the battle themes for XIII and its sequels. I rather listen to this than that.
True, I cannot stand the battle theme of Persona 3 FES. After 80 hour of listening to "baby,baby,baby" it starts getting on your nerves. I don't understand why most JRPGs tend to only use one battle theme...

Lost Odyssey is one of those games that prove that JRPGs still have many better ways to evolve than what Square Enix did with FFXIII. This is a genre of games that doesn't deserve to be on life support.

+anaalinaama Its a very generic JRPG in every mechanical way however. Its only unique thing is its leveling and immortals mechanic. The story is what is amazing about it, not any 'evolution' of anything.
And JRPGs are a dime a dozen nowadays, what the fuck are you on about? Their are shitloads of them released every year.
The story was without a doubt one of the most unique experiences in a RPG game, the combat style was turn based with a twist, the music never got boring and made every battle feel like it was Important, Truly an underrated game and Final fantasy 13 will be in the shadow of this.
My friend gave me a ride home from work. He started the car and this came on full blast! I asked him what was he listening to, then he said, "Mozart". I secretly put on my shazam and this popped up. This is not Mozart.
I need this song in HQ. The parts that other versions don't have are great, and I want to listen to it without feeling like I just plugged my headphones to my walkman and talk to my friends about that movie about a green ogre that just came out.
Man between this and Xenoblade Chronicles there's some seriously f'ing epic music.
And people are saying JRPGs are dead. I think it's more like the big companies like Square-Enix just need a good smack upside the head, because this game was written by their former #1 (Sakaguchi) and composed by Uematsu.

Well said! Same here, I never got sick of it and I would actually look foward to boss battles just to hear that boss theme. The music in Lost Odyssey, like the rest of the game, really is outstanding. It's just an overall masterpiece, Nobuo really outdid himself.

Nobuo Uematsu is a god,love what i`ve heard so far,i love how he can change his styele to the feeling of the game but still if you know his works you can recognize him,cant wait for the game to get to america.
Quite possibly my favourite battle theme of all time! This game is second on my list of the greatest rpg's for it's amazing story, music and traditional gameplay!!!

I doubt it. Most jrpgs only have one normal battle theme, and other boss battle themes. Only a handful of them have more than one "normal" battle theme.
Like I said though, this song IS the battle theme. This is just the unedited version of it. They cut about 30-40 seconds out of it for the final release of the game to make it flow better. I love it, I think it sounds great, it's one of my favorite new battle themes in the last several years.

This are only two things that I can really remember about this game. The first is the weird camera angle that occured when you ran in for an attack. The second is this amazing song.

Good news, then. Uematsu just left his exclusive Square-Enix contract and started his own studio, where he plans to continue composing game music, including Final Fantasy soundtracks.

This version was during the Battle in the Wohl Highlands against Khent, so it's not the one used for normal random encounters.

The bit at 48 seconds always sends shivers.
This sounds different to my game though, the bit at 48 seconds comes on after about 10 seconds ingame.

Lost Oddesy is annoyingly underated. It is a fantastic RPG that sticks to its routes instead of trying to be too creative, now I'm not saying its a bad thing to be creative but sometimes it helps to stick to what you know and keep things on a level people can appreciate. I love how simple this is and how classic it is. No bullshit, no changes just a great story, beautiful graphics and a well designed battle system. Now the music 'WOW!' just mindblowing.

Yup thats what it's called. Thanks. The rest should be longer, I thought disc 2 was the longest, but on the last disc you have to train quite a lot. Theirs a place called the Enlightenment tower I think. Go there and train and you'll gain like levels just about every battle. Disc 1 is short because of all the animation from new game and stuff they put into. But just keep playing the game, it gets really good.
They pretty much did. This is an extended version of the theme. In the game you start of with the 0:50 part.

Not after I realized that Yellow Band you get in the surrounding area nullifies paralyze. Seriously that makes the fight 1000 times easier.
Also only kill 2 of the bugs, and then focus on the worm. You only need to break the wall, not clear the zone, the bugs don't do anything and he shouldn't be able to charge up faster than you can kill him.
Love it at .49. Got a Mitsuda sound.
