Amazing review. Didn’t know what gunstock to buy but this video won me over
Thanks man, glad you found it helpful.
Thanks for the review! Great one!
video addressed many questions, just ordered the elite one with the cheek thing, cheers!
Both gunstocks have been won. Thanks for playing.
4:38 Elephant - I know the giveaway was won already but it was fun to find the hidden word either way. This was my first video I got to see from you and enjoyed it. Subscribed and liked. Keep it up😁
Thanks man. If it interests you, the word "Comfort" hasn't been found yet in my Gunstock video 4 episodes back.
I never heard the word "elephant". I even checked your time stamp.
@@Tinkerbell227 it's not verbal.
@@bringhurstvr ?
@@Tinkerbell227 all these words are printed in text on the video.
would love to try with quest 3. great video 🤩
Great review. thx
I'm looking to print myself a stock now. I saw several version of a printable Sanlaki stock, but no adapters for a Quest 3 so far as I can tell.
It's not a replica of his design, but it seems to be what you need.

Looks wicked cool! I want it too.
I butchered an old AMVR silicon grip cover(I have another one) to work with the Sanlaki gunstock. It's not pretty but it's functional. I can now replace the batteries without taking out the controller magnetic attachments.
Nice
Have you tried mounting the protube haptic module onto this gunstock. I know it doesn't just clamp on but im curious how it would be possible.
It could be done with a little glue and clever Jerry rigging. Haven't tried it though.
@@bringhurstvr sanlaki did it himself already. ua-cam.com/users/shorts1aDtLT5Wc-4?si=Yi49nAZSbQmykqnY
I got one of these back in my Quest 2 days and have upgraded some things. Do they sell just the controller connectors for the Q3 and Q3 pro controllers?
They sell quest 3 adapters. If you don't see a direct link then I'd just email them and request a special purchase.
Would have been cool if you had said something about the rear controller. Is it also with magnets or just jammed?
What are you saying? Both controllers have magnets.
Another great video. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Haha, that intro is giving James Bond vibes. Love it 😄
I try. Thanks man.
Can you go into specifics for the tracking issues with PCVR please as I'm having the same issue. You mention it was your router, but in what way? I already have a AXE75 WiFi 6e Router connected directly to the PC so it can't be that. Any help with helping me solve this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I believe what I was experiencing was something inside quest where you can enable and disable "double tap controllers for hand tracking".
When putting the controller back on the gun it thinks you've tapped it, hand tracking enables, and steam doesn't know what to do with it.
Haven't had any issues since disabling it inside quest settings.
@@bringhurstvrFantastic, I'll try turning that off, cheers. Really appreciate your response. Thanks and Happy New Year to you.
Do you know if this would work with the Q3 controllers with AMVR Silicon Grip covers on? Thanks
If the grips cover any part of the face of the controller, then it won't work.
@@bringhurstvr so you are saying this gunstock attachment would not fit on the Meta Quest 3 Hand Grip Strap?
@@michaelcho6039 I didn't say that. He asked about AMVR. The official Meta grips will work fine because they don't attach to the face or have cups that ride up too high.
How about a Mantis VR setup for mixed reality ???
You mentioned you arms became tired , could it be due to much weight or is it good enough for 1 or 2 hours of gameplay?
This video is pretty old and I've put hundreds of hours into gaming with various gunstocks since this upload. There's nothing about this that will make you more tired than any other model, and I've calibrated a bit since then. Just takes time getting your arms used to it.
great video!
The one thing I’m still unsure of is where to place the gunstock while your using other things. If you have it on a sling you need to first bring out the gun in VR, then you have to bring out the stock IRL, maybe you can have those overlap, but most of the time they won’t and you’ll have to do them separatley.
Anyone who has used a lot of gun stucks know of a good solution to this?
I'm not sure what you mean. When you don't want to hold the gun you just let it go and it hangs on the sling. When it's time to start firing again you attach the controllers back to it and you're on your way.
@@bringhurstvr yeah, but that’s a separate action from what you do in VR. Say you have a rifle, then want to switch to a pistol, in VR you place the rifle on your back/hip/whereever. Then you release the gunstock and it will hang by the sling (no real problem here).
Now I want to quickly switch back to my rifle, then I need to equip the rifle in VR (by holding the controler at my back/hip) but I also have to fiddle around getting the gunstock back, two separate actions to equip the rifle.
I would really want a seamless gunstock, mayve foldable that’s always attached or someething like that, not really sure, but the same actions used in VR to equip the rifle should equip it IRL.
Probably doesn’t exist yet, but if it does I’d really want one
It doesn't quite what yet. I manage to play seamlessly without much issue. But the ForceTube combined with the ProVolver is at least more streamlined. You get the haptic feedback, and the pistol is always attached to the right controller, even when holding the rifle. Makes things more immersive, but doesn't resolve what you're referencing.
You'd need some kind of a harness near your belt that magnetically grabs the rifle when you bring it down. At that point the setup would be laughably complex.
@@bringhurstvr I’m thinking more outside of the box, the gunstock itself is really just dead weight, if you build a mechanism to just link the controllers while they are held inline the act of aiming in VR will ”activate” the gunstock (like a piston/arm extend from each controller to meet in the middle).
Sure, more complex from an engineering standbpoint since you need sensors and motors, but from a user perspective super simple and seamless.
There's not enough time in the world.
Which gunstock are you using the most on quest 3 this or the protubevr one?
I've only been using the ProTube since discovering it. But that's mostly in an effort to get better at using it. This gun is still the easier to use in the game.
@bringhurstvr I ordered the protubevr based on your review. It hasn't arrived yet, but I'm interested in mounting the module onto other stocks. This one looks cool because you can reload from the bottom of the gun. Think I need to get me a 3d printer.
@@ivana6141 nice.
If you end up modifying something be sure to share your results. I'd love to see it.
@bringhurstvr busy modding headphones onto the quest 3 at the moment. I stole the mount and spring from globular quest2 headphones and cut a hot glued the aiaiai tma-2 studio headphones. This one's my favorite but trying a few others as well. Learning how to solder my own cables and connectors.
I have tracking issues with my Q3... during aiming on sight... 😢
With this gunstock?
The Elite one yes, while looking on the red dot my waepon starts to move from alone
@@Mika-go8cj I haven't had any issues, but something you can try is removing the plastic block that goes over the left controller. It locks it in place, but without it you can tilt it fully around the pipe.
I actually prefer that anyhow, since it lets me tilt the left controller slightly, and tilting it may help with the tracking.
You could totally put a real bullet in that barrel. Just cause you know it’s not a gun doesn’t mean it can’t be a real gun, looks a lot like a home made shotgun
I suppose you could turn it into a real gun. You could also turn a guitar into a gun. But it would take just as much modification....
@@bringhurstvr Yeah, if you were holding your guitar (or rather guitar case) like a rifle, people would probably assume you had a rifle in it (assuming you live in an area where guns are common, otherwise people would just look at you funny). Point is, the orange tip is always a good thing to have, even if people get shot and kileld by the police with the orange tip, it provides you with a little bit of security
Pistol transition isn't so good, especially when reloading. Its excellent for straight-up Subz or ARs.
Have you used it with shotguns?
@pa_alia No, never had a good VR experience with shotguns sadly
@@deacondawg1416Shame.. thanks for the reply man
Thanjs for the review, seemed reasonable but over $100 shipping to australia is unacceptable for me, it was nearly more in shipping than the item. Big shame
Oof. That's hard
I wanna send you a gunstock to test! its iSTOCK, its a bit different and I'm curious which one you will like more!
No worries. You can message me on Discord if you'd like
i think i'll just do a hack. Liike an adjustable curtain rod.
I did make an adjustable one in a cup style for my old quest 2 from pvc reticulation pipe and fittings, you can heat up the pvc to mould. Cost me about $20 all up
My guess is “just another service I offer”.
No guessing is required. It's out of place and doesn't belong.
I like the idea of it. However, folks like me who practice shooting ambidextrously are SOL for VR gun stocks. Seems like a fun tool though. I'll have to keeps my eyes open for a model that'll fit my needs.
For context, I switch hands depending on cover.
So is it worth ,,$160 after shipping.
No. Yes. Kind of.
Sorry, but I can only review this stuff as it comes in. I'm still convinced it's the easiest gunstock to use.
It's kind of a chore installing the controllers, but mounting from the top is magic.
But for upgradeability, better support across games, and the potential for haptics, I'd recommend ProTube.
Don't know why the piece of plastic that reduces the range of motion of your non dominant hand costs an extra $20
If you're talking about what I think you are the guy who makes them explained that in onward your aim changes if you swing your controller side to side so he limited the movement so it doesn't mess your aim up
BAR
A string of Text... Yeahhh
"A string of text is a sequence of characters, which can include letters, numbers, symbols, and spaces, organized in a specific order".
I really do not like that gunstock like this one is much longer that i needs to be. I have limited space at home and the barrel does not have to be that long after the non dominant hand. I see it in VR. I do not needed in real :(
Yeah, I haven't found another gunstock that connects in the same way, but even this is about as long as the ProTube. If you've got the skills you could saw off the extra length of pipe.
hey you should put #quest3 and #onward in your video
It's got those tags on the back end. I can put it in the description, but I'm not sure it'll make a difference.
Elephant
Congrats. Hit me up on Discord. I'm gonna have to make it harder next time!

Elephant
That's the word. Someone's already won it, but there's a second gun available to win through memberships, and you'd need to have that word to answer the question I posted. Thanks for watching.
@@bringhurstvr oh well good job to the winner! What is the membership? I would love to join in and see if I can still win one 😂
@@blame1991 it's basically Patreon for UA-cam. It's as little as $1.99 a month and it's just a way of supporting creators. And through it I occasionally give extra stuff away, like in this instance.
And along the way we have VR Movie nights, early access, etc. There's a join button on the UA-cam profile, but there will be more giveaways down the line, so you shouldn't feel obligated to go that route.
@@blame1991 oh, and I think there's a different model gunstock that hasn't been won in my more recent gunstock video. You'll wanna check my pinned comment.
@@bringhurstvr Hey thanks man I appreciate you taking the time! I guess I'm part of the membership now haha! Just joined. Is there anywhere I need to go to write down the word elephant? I'll go take a look at your most recent video pinned comment
