Thanks for the feedback Jim. We appreciate you watching. Glad you enjoyed it. There are quite a few trails across the bay. We’re looking forward to going back. Do you have any trails over there that are on your bucket list?
The trail you went on connects to some longer options. Also want to hike China Poot Lake/Poot Peak trail. Lots of great trails near Skilak though. I recommend Hideout Trail as great views with minimal effort.
@@jimflothe9693 we saw a few other options when we were over there. One was a ridge trail that went up over toward the south East side of the glacier. We were thinking of doing that one next time. Skilak lake has a bunch of trails we would love to hike. We will look into hideout trail. Thanks for the recommendation. Are there any other Areas that you recommend to visit here in Alaska?
When I lived in Fairbanks we would hang out on the Upper Chena River, Harding Lake, and Quartz Lake. Other trips in Alaska though I really love the Denali Highway and the Richardson Highway down to Valdez. The Kenai Peninsula is my favorite for all around activities.
@@jimflothe9693 we frequent all of those areas near Fairbanks as well. I’d probably agree that the kenai peninsula is the best all around for a variety of activities. Thanks for chatting Jim
thanks faddis clan. great video. seems like a real family get away. i hope you sport something big in a chest rig for the hikes in the dense forests. keep the videos coming.
Thank you, we had a great time. Yeah we definitely have pack some protection with us. We’ve come across bear before. It never makes it on video because that’s the last thing on our minds 😆. We normally don’t put ourselves in bad positions when the kids are around. We make lots of noise so we don’t see anything up close. Do you have something to carry as well?, we have a .454 casull
@@DustinFaddis unfortunately i'm in california. the options for personal protection are limited. i'd like an alaska in your caliber. or even a judge in 45-70. i'l probably settle for a 10 in whatever flavor is allowed and stocked. not really and bear in my neighborhood. plenty of rats...
@@zr2dad5 haha… I know exactly what you mean, I’m originally from California. We have a magnum research BFR chambered in 45-70. It’s a beast. We picked up a 10mm when we got here to alaska but I’m more comfortable with the .454 for grizzlies.
Glad to hear that you liked the video. Alaska is a beautiful place. There’s so much to do and see. Costa Rica is amazing too. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to make another video this summer on a vacation.
Amazing video Dustin thanks for sharing the video , I’m planning to go to Alaska this year in what date you guys did this trip if you don’t mind . Thank you
It’s a master canopy 140”x 140”. It’s a life saver up here in Alaska. The mosquitoes get bad here. It pops up real quick. We’re definitely happy with it.
@@DustinFaddis when I hear Selma I think of Fentress. Are they close to each other or am I confusing it with some place else? I need to check a map but is Selma between luling and San Marcos?
@@DustinFaddis you’re right. Might have seen it when went 1604 occasionally. I’m Texan and proud to be from there but I’m sure glad I made it up here. I think it would actually be easier to live off the land in Texas with the hog problems and all the deer and other things to eat but I’m really close great fishing spots but in Texas I was about 150 to corpus and maybe 200 to Galveston.
Thanks for the feedback. I’m still working on making the videos better. I’m having some issues with the audio so I really appreciate it. I’m only editing with an iPad and it’s difficult to get everything right. It will sound good during playback but when I post the video the volume goes up and down a lot more. Hopefully I’ll figure it out soon. I appreciate you giving your time and feedback
I like Seward a lot better than Homer. The mountains are so much closer. The only thing that sucks about Seward is the City operated campground ocean front use to be first come first serve and you paid onuce you parked in front of the entrence only 15 Bucks a night. Now you have to reserve on line and its 40 bucks. Totally sucks but still very beautiful
That’s why I’m really loving Alaska. I can take a drive to go camping and either go to a tourist filled area or I can go north and not see Annie person for weeks at a time. It’s great
Love the videos along with the music! It’s so amazing to watch!
It’s a lot of fun making the videos.
@@DustinFaddis if it’s fun then it’s not work 😉
@@rachelfaddis8151 that’s true. You should come with on the next trip 😊
I can’t believe the water up there in Alaska. Is it like that everywhere up there?
Wow, both of those places are beautiful.
Yes they are.
Great video! Always wanted to hike some of the trails across from Homer. Thanks for sharing.

IT,S LIKE THE COOLEST PLACE IN THE UNIVERSE
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing your trip with all of us!
Thanks, we appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed it. Have you ever been to the area?
So pretty, it makes me want to move up there.
We always enjoy Tolsona Wilderness Campground in Glenallen. Whiskey Point in Homer is also nice, it has a large cliff that overlooks the water.
We really like both of those camp sites. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment Jason

How bad was the mosquitos? Thx
There were mosquitoes at skilak lake but they weren’t bad. There were no mosquitoes in Homer because it was windy
San Marcos Texas? My neck of the woods. I lived in Gonzales Texas for many years before moving to Alaska in 2020
