@Trace Daniel Hopefully, your so called girlfriend finds out what a real POS you are! I would bet it's really your boyfriend you are talking about Teddy! LOL
That was how they took our old silo down. When I was a kid the barn burned to the ground so they just took the silo down right away because it was old & in bad shape
okay so I know nothing about silos except they're fun to watch collapse. What would happen if you just cut the rings that go round it...like all of them?
you would never live to get to the last one's, the rings are the real integrity of the whole structure, keeps the blocks from pushing outward, when it was filled, after 50 years or so, I would question the ability of the mortar to hold the blocks together by itself, demo would be quick and complete
mennonites are very progressive people who use and drive modern farm machinery and vehicles as well as nice homes that are up to date. they are a hardworking bunch of folks. they are very devoutly religious people to god and jesus christ and family centered folks. tv they don't have, no mobern music, computers for business and religious use only. they will use cell phones. they will help each other out and strangers also. the women wear long dresses and a cap on their head, marriage is for life. they are very old school in their beliefs but they don't force it down people's throats and are modest. good folks to know and deal with. the amish wear the black, won't use modern machinery or electronics. their religious beliefs are way different than the mennonites. they banish folks from their communities for sin for life young or old. they don't like outsiders period. they still use the horse and buggy for transportation and no electricity. i'll take the mennonites over the amish anytime.
Simple but labor and experience intensive, like just about ALL the work done on a farm .
Hide the Christmas lights, parson Raber is coming.
On the farm we used left over silo bricks to make a sidewalk going up to the house.
Gods honest Gospel there friend.
And this is why you have strong young men...us old timers would have a heart attack doing that..!!
Save yourself some boredom and skip to 11:19.
"Eli, get me a bigger hammer & my 1/4" socket set so we can take these rings off."

That went better (and quicker) than a lot of explosive demolitions.
it collapses at 11:20
Thanks for the timeline. That was too much motion to watch the whole way through! ☺
All the ones I have watched they just discovered assembled them stave by stave, more usable parts that was and less mess to clean up
What year was this video made? 1895? Sledgehammers, really?
Eyuh. They Mighta done that a time or two before!
I wonder if anyone has converted these old silos into a tiny home? I wonder if that's where rapunzel lived? Lol
a hobo was living in a silo right next to a house we where renting in the past
Can someone make the jack hammer sound for me?

Who invented Silos?
Mennonite...not Amish. Big difference. Know what your world is... Before you start shooting your comments into blue sky...it makes you look, well ...
Not a dimes worth of difference.
Silo ruined by a barn fire. Not worth saving obviously.
I have found my calling haha
I always thought that they always wore black and shunned modern machinery, is that no longer true?
Howard Maryon-Davis that's the Amish that your thinking of. Most of the Mennonites drive vehicles & would farm with modern equipment.
Mennonite and Amish are not the same.
Nothing modern about concrete silos.

wrong
OSHA called, they were looking for you boss.
Well... Nobody died.
Smartest way yet. Sure fire. Propped up and jerk prop out. Gold star.
how would somebody even demolish one of these "safetly"? You would almost have to just break it all on onee side till it falls.
Start at the top and work your way down just the opposite way they are put up
Tis a fine silo but sure tis no pool English
Save yourself from wasting 11 minutes of your life and just cut to 11:19 .
11:15 smh
Took you long enuff!
Wait a minute, you had an excavator on hand and you didn't use it.
Labour is cheap,!
Machines cost money,!
They didn't want to scratch the paintwork,!!
look like fun to do.
