- In this video I'll show you the easiest way to update or roll-back the software on your Minelab Equinox 600 or Equinox 800 detector.
Not only can you update, but I'll also show you how to roll back to the previous version if you prefer it to the newer one!

Great well explained video !! Thanks for sharing with us 😁
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for taking the time to make this great video!!
You’re welcome! I’m glad you found it useful.
Thank you buddy love your videos very informative
Great to know. Thanks.
Thank you
You're welcome
For some reason it will not let me click the drop down box to select a different version, anyone know why?
Do you lose all your settings when you do an update? Actually just noticed it says this on the Minelab website - “Any custom detector settings will be preserved while performing the update.” I’m going to give the 4khz a go! Thanks 🙏
Hi Simon - as you mention, all user settings are retained when updating. How have you found the 4KHz setting? You might find using 4KHz to identify ring-pulls useful to. I recently uploaded a video about this very topic.
@@coilsandcoinsdetecting Hi and thanks for the comment - I’m based in the UK and there is quite a bit of iron in the group. I found the 4khz really noisy and tried it only for 1-2mins before switching back to multi. Perhaps I could have tried less sensitivity (normally run around 23) but I was loathed to turn it down when multi is fine at 23. Have you had the same problem at all?
@@simonhedger9378 I think conditions in the UK are VERY different to here in Australia, as you have all of those tricky Roman and old hammered coins that ring up much lower than coins here. I’d only ever use 4Khz to check signals - I typically run in Multi almost all the time…
Super vid clip M8 & very timely
Thanks 👍
Thanks for posting this....When looking to roll back my 600 to version 2 on the rollback screen there are no previous firmware version listed. There is a white box as expected but no previous versions - it's empty. Any ideas?
Not sure - it’s possible they may have changed this option. What version is your detector currently running?

I have had my minelab for about two years. I have never tried to update it. I am happy with it s performance. I am also nervous I will mess it up and it won’t work at all if I try it. I am torn if I should do an update. I am writing this as I listen and I am hearing some comments on my worries. How about those that have updated pro and con. Should I do it.
I updated from v2 to v3 on the Equinox 800. I found v3 to give more erratic signals and Target IDs for my type of hunting in my location, so I rolled it back to v2 (yes, you can go backwards if you don't like it). The only way to know is to try I guess... Different soil types may give different results, and v3 may be significantly better for you...
what advantages do you get with 4hHz with it being so close to 5kHz?
I think I'm running on ver2.0. how would I know for sure without connecting for the PC?
I’ve heard some say that 4Khz can give greater depth in certain conditions, but I can’t say I know for sure. I also believe it’s a good frequency for finding large silver targets at depth, however the trade off is that it can also make trash targets sound good at depth…
If you don’t have the F2 iron bias setting, then you’re running v1.x. If you have 4Khz frequency then you’re running v3, so if you have F2 but NOT 4khz, then you’re running v2.

Thank you for the update how to. Question I updated from version 1 to 3 but the frequency only went from 4,5,10,15, then multi? Anyone else have this happen?
This was done on a Mac update?
Sounds like the update process failed to install the firmware correctly. Perhaps factory reset the machine to see if you have access to 20 and 40. If not, you may need to roll it back to the previous version and then try the update again…
Thank you for getting back so quickly. I should have stated it is a equinox 600 and after looking at the box I believe the 600 only does the 5,10,15, and multi frequency. Love your videos. If your ever in the northwest region of tassy would love to treat ya to a coffee or something. Thanks again
@@shortymonroglass9494 ah yes - I should have thought of that! Glad it’s all ok though. Good luck and happy hunting!
You did not need to download a separate installer for v2.xxx .. It's all in the same package installer.... just click the 3 dots
Thanks for the info!
