When I was little (probably 6-7) my mom had to work early one morning so my Dad had to do my hair for school... Lol Needless to say, I looked pretty hideous 😝 But now, I cherish that memory.

great tutorial. i will need alot of practice. i have twin girls and i wanna make sure they have cute hair since we are without momma. i have started to get good at ponytails and buns but my big fingers dont help. does a simple water spritzer help keep the hair from flyaways during this?

+Kendra Smith thanks i need to get a little spritzer bottle. and then its just trial and error. but they are almost 4 so it will pay off more and more. so much brushing.

+Brian Siemon So sorry for your being with Momma. My dad used to braid mine and my sister's hair. His strong fingers were actually good because the braids wouldn't fall out after he had done them! And we'd wake up with beautiful wavy hair in the morning. Though, yes, we did require lots of brushing. Kendra's advice is great. A little leave-in conditioner might help, too. Keep practicing and you'll get it down!

I know all the steps on how to braid. But my hairs too goddam thick and when I 'braid it' there's always strands tangled up or sticking out :(

After all my life of having long hair, I'm 37, I've never been able to learn how to do a proper braid & I've certainly NEVER been able to do any type of fun braid~ until I watched your tutorial!!!$❤❤❤😀😀😀😀 I'm not kidding when I tell you I've watched so so many tutorials and while I appreciate them, somehow their directions just don't register with me...I may as well be trying to read Chinese with no background in that language lol.

I’ve been doing it all wrong! Thank you so much for this video. When doing a French braid, I never thought to add the hair AFTER I braided the section of hair. This was like turning the light on in a dark room. That’s how I felt. Now I feel confident enough to try the Dutch braid. Much appreciation. I look forward to future videos.
Your lesson was far easier to understand than any of the other dozen it so that I have watched. I'm a caregiver taking care of my wife. I regularly wash & braid her gray hair. She has asked about French Braiding it, so I told her I would try to learn from videos on UA-cam. Thank you for posting this very well made video!

once you get past the 1st cross. then it will always be the hair strand under that will be going over all the other hair strands

I love braids, but I have THE most difficult time trying to keep track of the strands of hair I have intertwined in my fingers. I always drop them or accidentally add the wrong hair :( :(. So far this is the best video i've seen. I'll try straightening my hair to do it next time :) :)

Sweetie, this has been THE best explanation on how to braid that I have ever seen. :D For years I've only ever been able to do a regular braid, and I am 44 now! You can always learn something new. I've tried over the years but never could get it right. And my daughter is about to be 22, she put with me for years with the attempts, eventually having to get someone else to do the nicer braids for her when she needed them. Thank you! :D Now I know for future reference. I wish someone had been able to explain this as easily as you have just now. You're awesome hun!

I have been struggling to learn how to French braid for years now....this video was extremely helpful!! I played around with it a few different times with your guidance and a few times without. I can finally do a French braid. It isn't perfect, but I can at least create one!

So first get the hair put the strand in the middle and put it on the right and the right one will be on the left so the take the left and it will be right and the middle will turn purple and the right will do a backflip and repeat these steps and you will have a Dutch braid
Oh yeah but you have to have thin straight hair without any layers

try using a flat iron on you hair first so that its a little less thick and more straight.
I have very curly hair and u can braid it just fine without heat. just pull it really tight. also if u want it to be even better try braiding damp hair

I still don't understand how you do the French braid...
it's really hard if you have long really long hair... if you take new hair from the side, the longest hair take other hair with them and they mix up everything -.-
Me tooo, just ends up a big jumbled mess! I want so badly to learn to do fancy braided styles with my long hair, but I can't even get the basics down.
