I do understand but girl even though my mom and dad have always been together living with me and spending time with me , I had to learn to style my hair to do my makeup and other styling all by myself because I remember my mom would simply tie my hair like a grandma and she would literally buy grandma like clothes for me, it took me so many years to completely style myself so now that Im a college student but im still learning how to groom ourselves so don't worry , we all have to learn somehow all alone
I can't collect hair without letting go of the strand and when I do that, the strand blends in with the other strands and then I have to restart... I swear. This is how many times I have attempted this and failed | V
Then without grabbing hair from the sides on your first round try normally plaiting your three strands twice or thrice and then start dutch braiding . it won't look the same but it'll help you practice the braid and then once you master holding the strands you can try doing the braid from the top .... Hope this helps 👍

I have super long extensions in my hair, they’re called Dreamcatchers, and they don’t come out unless I get them removed. You have to put them in a loose braid or a bun at night so you don’t pull them out (if you lay on a couple of them, they can come out or loosen, but you can’t pull them all out at once) For the first like...2 weeks I had them, I was so proud of the fact that each of the three sections was even. Now I’m like 4 months in and the sections are NEVER EQUAL. I don’t know what happened😂 it always looks so ridiculous. I wanted to watch this tutorial and the French braid one as well so I could learn how to braid my real hair as well as the long part, because the extensions get such a beautiful wave to them when I wake up after braiding them and my real hair always looks soooo stupid😂 it looked so easy when she did it, but I’m struggling so badly right now lmao
Omg, thank you soooo much for this thorough explanation and "real time" video. Nothing sped up, nice and slow so that we can all understand. I'm about to turn 30 this year and I finally did a dutch braid on my own 😭 Thank you! 💜💜
To everyone learning: it’s common to get extremely frustrated learning to French/Dutch braid. Your neck is crooked, it’s awkward and your arms above your head make you tired. I think I just started crying, for 18 years I've always thought this is impossible to do but the clear instructions worked and for the first time in ever, I did a successful dutch braid! Sure it right now looks like a broken down crow's nest but I AM SIMPLY HYPED
ive been unable to braid my WHOLE LIFE and ive watched dozens of videos in 2013 about doing it yourself, this is the first time in my 24 years of life that i was actually able to do it. and it only took my the length of the video to do both braids myself. thank you for hacking into my brain and downloading the dutch braiding information ily
No you're not hon' , im one of them too !!! But it looks soo good on me that i wanna learn it till i starts doing them everyday. Its like my best ever hairstyle choosen for every girl out there.
I'm a single father that tried a French braid today over 4 hours , and my opion is , i rather be a mechanic than have to go through what i went today over perfecting my daughters braid, not many will relate....
Hi I am a 32 year old that just learned how to do this to my hair and I have to give you a huge thanks! You were the only video that slowed down enough to really learn as a beginner. You're the bomb!
yes i hate the struggle i just wish i had no feeling in my arm so i could do it or something i dont get it, but it is mostly my arm it makes me not want to do it lol
Ope, fr tho. And I have long hair, so it really does not help. Sorta wanna cut it off, but it's a part of me, yk? So I usually end up looking crazy with my hair down 24/7. 😂😂
Omg I actually did it! With years of not being to Dutch braid my own hair, you helped me do it on my own! I started with my left side first and got the hang of it and did the right. With a little bit of practice I’ll go closer to the part line to make it look more “boxer” less maid lol thank you!!
legit all my friends can do this except for me and when i ask them how they do it they be like “omg it’s SO easy how do you not know?” braiding is bloody difficult
This saved me. I live without a mom and now I can finally learn how to do my own hair. Also I love how she goes through it step by step never missing a step.
Hello fellow frustrated people! :) Here are some tips I have found when trying this out for.... several .... hours (rip 😭) P.S this are some rlly basic things, so if they sound dumb and you are like “shouldn’t you already know dat?!!!”, just stop. I already know, but for the simple souls who were as confused as me, here ya go! :) 1. If your arms hurt like... a lot. The only thing I got for you is to just take a break! If your arm hurts while braiding, just hold the braid with one hand and let your other arm rest! It sounds dumb that I had to tell myself to do that but it rlly helped! 2. Ik in the video it shows how she holds it but, she doesn’t say it. When braiding, place your arms on the side that you are braiding on! Not above your head (you can still do it like that though) or on the opposite side, just put your arms on the side on which you are braiding? Legit, when I looked at another video and did this, it made everything 10x easier!!! 3. If you want your hair higher just bring your arms higher, of course it’s hard to keep them but, take breaks! I found it easier that if I just braided higher and took time to take breaks, you gucci! 👌🏻 4. Keep close to your head!!! If you pull your hair away when braiding, you gonna get some saggy braids, just pull them closer! 5. Try not to look in the mirror when braiding, it confuses you! Obviously look in the mirror if it’s in the right position but, try and braid from feeling! 6. The most obvious PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!! If you feel frustrated, but try it again a day later. You shouldn’t be in a rush to make it perfect on the first try!! Shout out to Drakes Nest video “Easy French braid tutorial”. I got most of these tips either from her or my own experience. I would check it out! I just put these tips here bc this was the first video when searching up Dutch braids (just putting it here even though it’s French braid as ppl still might need dis, so plz no attack me for putting it in amp her of her vids!!! just want more struggling people to see this!!!
This is the one video that actually helped me learn how to braid. It’s slow, simple, and you explain it to sound so easy!! And I have medium length frizzy/wavy/curly hair!! ❤
My biggest problem is that my arms start cramping really easily, so they don't have the patience for me to keep my arms up that long, so I always wind up having to put my elbows on a table and just HOPE that I'm braiding it right without a mirror x'D
i never leave comments on videos but this vid actually changed my life, i was able to dutch braid for the first time in my entire life and it seemed so simple from the way you explained it, thank you so so so much!!
@@briannaavalos5295 😂😂 there is an app called trivago that helps you with the prices of hotels. So in the advertisements, at the end, they say, "hotel? Trivago." Meaning if you want to search for a hotel, use trivago. Have you never seen the ad?😂😂
Best hair braiding tutorial I’ve seen! I have dyslexia and had a hard time keeping all the stands straight in my head with other tutorials and her wording and showing of the braiding process was amazing!
okay from watching this I can actually get a hang of this braid dutch.. because she explained it so well and the steps she made kind of easy and slow, so you can see where the section of hair has to go... but it seems easy when you just watched it... let's see how EaSy it can when you do it for real... man the struggle is real..
if you want to get drunk really quickly take a shot every time she says "grab the top/bottom strand, grab some hair, and bring that under and into the middle." 😂
Honestly, why can't she just say: Do this a couple more times. Then after she does that, she can just speed up the video to the last few parts for what to do after.

Girl I’m 42 years old and STILL can’t braid! I have my 12 year old daughter do it lol! I have no idea how she learned b/c it definitely wasn’t from me. Probably from watching UA-cam videos like this one.
Curl your pointer finger towards your palm; one strand is held against the palm with that finger. Another strand is held against the palm (or just gripped by the curled finger itself) by the middle finger. The third strand is held by the ring finger in the same way. Everyone is different, so maybe you use a different finger combo that feels more comfortable. Generally I just use my thumbs for the twisting motion. Then with the other hand, you take hair and one of the strands, twist the braid, and add it back to the finger. Usually in that process I switch the strands to the other hand to make it easier to get new hair.
UGHHH i sometimes wish i could remove my head and then braid lmaoo

Thank you so much. You give the best tutorials 😊 I can now do both French and Dutch braids on my daughter thanks to you. Just a tip for those struggling you can slow down the videos on UA-cam. Go in setting top right, then choose play mode and choose the speed that you want 😄. That's what I did and it worked!!!!

mr. misunderstood I can totally relate. I’m a single mother and need to learn how to do this for my daughters performance
I think it’s so adorable that you’re trying
Hi I am a 32 year old that just learned how to do this to my hair and I have to give you a huge thanks! You were the only video that slowed down enough to really learn as a beginner. You're the bomb!

Hello fellow frustrated people! :)
Here are some tips I have found when trying this out for.... several .... hours (rip 😭)
P.S this are some rlly basic things, so if they sound dumb and you are like “shouldn’t you already know dat?!!!”, just stop. I already know, but for the simple souls who were as confused as me, here ya go! :)

When you don’t have enough arm strength to braid your hair :’) my arms get soooo tired after a few minutes

okay from watching this I can actually get a hang of this braid dutch.. because she explained it so well and the steps she made kind of easy and slow, so you can see where the section of hair has to go... but it seems easy when you just watched it... let's see how EaSy it can when you do it for real...

Honestly, why can't she just say: Do this a couple more times. Then after she does that, she can just speed up the video to the last few parts for what to do after.
Well, I have watched so many videos on Dutch braids, but I think this is the best video available on the Internet today for doing Dutch braids. Awesome explanation! ❤
It’s still complicated. Tho she went step by step. 😂 Like if you have trouble.

Urgh, every tutorial is the same on youtube. No one ACTUALLY EXPLAINS HOW TO HOLD THE THREE STRANDS.
I think it takes some kind of super powers
i put the bottom strand in my mouth tbh
Kayley Melissa explains about the fingers position.
