About Subnautica:
Subnautica is an open world survival game in development by Unknown Worlds Entertainment.
Subnautica allows the player to explore an aquatic alien planet by scuba diving and traveling it, while collecting resources and food to survive. It was released on Steam Early Access on December 16, 2014.
The Xbox release was in August 2016.
The player controls in first-person view the lone survivor of a crashed ship on an aquatic planet.
The main objective of the player is to explore the open world environment and survive the dangers of the planet, while also continuing the story.
Subnautica allows the player to collect resources, construct tools, bases, and submersibles, and interact with the planet's wildlife.
Players must keep themselves adequately hydrated and fed, and must also maintain their oxygen supply while traversing underwater.
They discover remnants of the Precursors, an ancient alien species, that used to live on the planet, massive structures and receive mysterious signals by a strange entity.The development team opted to use the Unity engine rather than Spark, the engine used for the company's previous game, Natural Selection 2.
Subnautica producer Hugh Jeremy justified this decision because of the different demands that the game places on the engine, and "because [the team] does not include people working on Spark, it's not appropriate for Subnautica to use Spark.
By using Unity for Subnautica, Spark can continue to develop in certain directions, while Subnautica develops in others.
To use Spark for Subnautica would be to try and square peg a round hole."
Subnautica was released on Steam Early Access on December 16, 2014.
Subnautica was originally planned to be released on Xbox One on April 1, 2016, but was ultimately delayed by another month.
The next game in the Subnautica universe was announced in early 2022, expected to launch in early access about a year later. - Ігри
I think they should add some smaller creatures, not just leviathans, and maybe some plants if that's possible.
De-extinction did add a plant to the game so that should definitely be possible.

Definitely. The balance of leviathans and other creatures is delicate. Too many would make the game simply difficult rather than terrifying. What we also need is a larger map

@@pragatsharma1580 I guess... the only sad thing is that all the unique colours for biomes have been taken. pink for jelly shrooms, dark purple for crystal caves, deep red for the lava zones and fabricator caverns, green for the lost river, and orange for the sea monkey nests. it would really require unique thinking and ideas to make the biomes stand out from eachother. I'm thinking of a vibrant yellow biome (LSD trip & very dangerous), some deep blue biome reminisscent of the tree spires, and some giant perpetually moving maze of fungus.
I feel like they should add another underwater island area in the void near where the sunbeam blew up (the pda could tell you the coordinates). That could be where you find one of the new leviathans, and even the alpha peeper species. It might make it feel more important to go out into the void.

Hey just wanted to let you know that I think of the images you used in reference to the leviathan skull was actually a chasm fiend from the storm light archive. An easy mistake as they very similar and I could be wrong but I wanted to let you know just in case

i'd love to see a massive crab squid crossed with a reefback, so a reefback body and size with crab squid limbs and eyes, and a mixture of the two sounds together would be horrifying yet familiar!

Im so proud of Shped (Thats who made the ancient skeleton concept). Hes a good friend of mine, and he knew that I wanted to see an ancient skeleton concept from him. So he made it for me. It looked so good and I aint gonna lie, I knew about the two fossil additions before development was confirmed to the public. I showed the artwork to one of the team members and they liked it. They ended up using it. Shped and I gave some ideas regarding aspects of the ancient skeleton. You guys better get excited cuz this thing is gonna look cool. I also called it the guardian leviathan and came up with some possible lore for the concept. Its been fun so far. Thanks to AotU for allowing people to showcase the art. Shped was gonna make a THETA concept but he lives in the Ukraine, so we most likely arent gonna get to see that.
I always thought that the “Gaurdian” leviathan would be similar to the Sandshark/Boneshark, like a common ancestor. And I wouldn’t make it sea floor based.

Guardian leviathan
I personally like the idea that the map is on top of a massive reefback, i think it would be cool if after the explosion (of the aurora) some of the biomes broke away slightly creating deep trenches (I was thinking between 1.2k-400m down). These trenches would contain materials vital to beating the game and would also house many different types of fishes (ranging from something as small as a peeper to a leviathan).
The thing with guardian leviathan skeleton is that its scan says that's just the skull. So that's not the rest of the body you see, but just the head.

The second concept at 2:01 could be used as a precursor for the peeper and boomerang in the sense that both come from the same creature but have since split into two diffrent species just like humans and apes who have the same ancestors. I don't know if this contedicts any established lore but I'm sure it'd be a cool concept to make the world of subnautica feel more connected.
Honestly cant wait for the future of this mod. It's already amazing

Idea for subnautica 3 (this is an AU ((alternative universe)) made by my friend):
The Karraa (or however it is spelt) bacteria, sometimes when spread from one of the alien creatures to the player, alters their DNA in a way that (also my friends theory) let’s the modern-day leviathans survive with the karraa bacteria inside their body. The only problem with this is that it alters some part of them as well, either as simple as putting a shark fin on their back or completely altering their DNA to look almost like a smaller, humanoid leviathan. They can still spread the virus/bacteria though, causing many humans being hostile towards the infected ones, especially now that the karraa is in their DNA and trying to cure them would most likely kill them. Because of this, humans call them ‘broken hybrids’ and are now officially a different species. Humans usually tend to steer clear of broken hybrids, attacking them on sight (harassing them), treating them with curiosity, or even trying become infected through the broken hybrids (becoming infected and turning into a broken hybrid through a broken hybrid is a 48% chance, otherwise you just become a normal infected person) so that they can become immune to the karraa. Broken hybrids usually tend to treat humans with caution, nervousness, avoid them completely, try and treat them like fellow members of society, or are on edge and are quick to snap around humans.
I think that it could be cool to choose between human and broken hybrid in a character costumization thingy at the beginning.

Would love to have a leviathan similar to the Gasopod, possibly having tumor-like growths on its body. It'd be cool to have more animals in general too, or variations of different ones (rabbit rays, bladderfish, etc.)
I would actually LOVE if they add some kind of anemona that lives on the void walls that could attract the ghosts leviathans and other prey by mesmerizing and then shock them, maybe even eating them by getting them "caged" around their digestive apparel
I wonder if they could add a more terrifying Reaper Leviathan like an Alpha Reaper.
For example, a bigger reaper, that could be able to destroy the cyclops and have an animation for it, have six more 'arms', blue instead of red, and possibly roam like important areas.
they could add weather like storms, regular rain and maybe whirlpools that spin the player around and throw them far distances along with your vehicle as well .
We already have a glitch that does the last one, so we should be able to replicate it into an event.
i think it would be awesome if they not only added smaller creatures and plants, but also added some way to obtain and hatch leviathans that you find in the research facility's, such as the seadragon egg.
I think they should add the giant turtle concept art that had the big orange orbs on its back
I think they should add a Alpha Ray to the mod. It would be the first ray and could leap out of the water.

You know how they plan on adding a alpha peepers right.
To i was just playing subnautica and made my way to the desease research facility, and there behind the glass you could scan all of the different species of rays. And when you do you get the PDA entry talking about the alpha ray.

I'm drawing a concept of the first fossil and I'm calling it the Alpha Biter, like the Alpha Peeper, but it's a Biter, It might spawn in the Blood Kelp or Dunes because normal Biters live in the Grassy Plateau and those 2 are close.
A note: the biter leviathan concept looks very similar to a duncleoclepus and the second one looks like a shrimp
Also concept: a worming creature that hides in the walls and comes out and charges to the player or next wall when the player gets close
Two leviathans that I’d like to see from either this or De Extinction are the Eye and that long snake thing in the Safe Shallows

I'd like the idea of the alpha peeper being in Return of the Ancients, Or just normal subnautica in general.
This gets me excited for subnautica 3, I wish they use the concept art for sub 1 and below zero that they didnt end up putting in those games.
I feel like a more likely direction for the story is the player finds a very VERY old and abandoned precursor facility where the precursors were messing with stuff they shouldn't (like they do best) and revived the fossils much like Jurassic Park

the "Guardian leviathan" looks like it would fit right in with the Godzilla franchise
Every time I watch an Aci video my brain always keeps wandering back to this picture of a giant circular mouth extending out of the water in the center of a whirlpool. The worst part is I can imagine exactly what that would look like in Subnautica
I’d love to see some kinda variants on the below zero leviathans. Like maybe since the chelicerate wouldn’t be alpha predators out of their natural environment, but got put somewhere else they’re smaller but existing around the crater and could make for another harmful base game mob. Only reasoning being that the precursors caught and studied leviathans so below zero leviathans being contained and having to break out and adapt would make for a cool bridge of the two areas. Can have the PDA point out they aren’t supposed to live here and have changed appearance or something to adapt.
The gulper leviathan is really cool and I would like to see it in the game
I think it could use squid like propulsion jets to suck in fish to eat them in one gulp and you could use the to separate concept arts an combine them and use the mouth from the one to close its mouth an it would retract its mouth in to its stomach to eat larger pray (these are just suggestions)
It is already In the dextinction mod but it would still be cool in the Return of the Ancient mod with a better model

I would love it if they added some of the scrapped creatures into the game, those that were originally supposed to be there. It would be cool to see creatures like the Rock Puncher or the Grabcrab in the game. Or that „Large Bird“ thing that was done dirty and scrapped from both games.
I know this might be really hard to make but remember that bigger skyray that was in the subnautica trailer I thought that would be cool to add in also if it does work remember that concept art for the dragon sized skyray yea.
When it comes to new leviathans and Subnautica games, I would love more than anything , is a planet sized leviathan, a creature so huge it has its own gravity, atmosphere and ecosystem inside it's body and in it's oceans. Imagine you are exploring a planet when you discover that the planet doesn't have a molten or solid core, the planets "geothermal" energy comes from the metabolism of the planet leviathan. If the leviathan we're to die, the planet would freeze.
A way this leviathan "eats" would be waiting for other planetoids to enter it's orbit, then the creature awakens and uses collosal tentacles to crash the planetiod into it's ocean, waiting for the leviathans ecosystem to breakdown and assimilate the life and resources of the foreign planetoid.
maybe a video where you pay artist to desing variations of common fishes or other non leviathan creatures to add nore biodiversit?
Hey Aci, I know these other people who are making another Subnautica mod similar to ROTA. After ROTA, we are hoping to expand the Subnautica Universe even more.
Imagine an ice worm..... But in the void... So void worm that shoots up and just drains vehicle power.
Well if they're going to add the alpha peeper, go the full nine yards and add the alpha ray too! it's predatory, so it could be a midsized enemy, to balance out the growing amount of leviathans in the game!

Not gonna lie, but these guys all have very awesome designs. Especially the Angler Leviathan and the Guardian Leviathan.
both oof these crazy concept artist interpretations would be crazy to see alive in Subnautica along side some other leviathons for size comparisons.
I remember there was a concept for an Ice Dragon Leviathan in Below Zero that got scrapped. Seems like a promising possibility.

I feel like subnautica could ues a large creature that lived in caves and when you get to close it grabs your sea moth and pulls it into the cave where you sea moth might brake on the tight cave it would just be a giant tentacle that pulled you into caves

With how the guardian leviathan looks and how it would walk on the ground I think it would be non hostile till you shot at it and then those tentacle things could lunge at you and grab you or your vehicle and damage it kinda like the reaper
It would be cool to add a friendly leviathan like the sea emperor maybe the leviathan could be that giant turtle like creature from the concept arts and i mean the one on the falt sand not the one with orange balls on it and maybe add the biomes from the concept art including the flat sand biome with life and the gian turtle that acts like a protector and that biome during the day all the way to the bottom should be visible by the sun like the safe shallows and not dark like the dunes.
Here’s an idea some kind of arms upgrade like the robot arms from below zero, that might be interesting but I don’t know if it be balanced.

I think the adult gargantuan should be bigger. Devs please compare it to the image we all know. It would make it so much better. Also chose the tentacles verision of the the that one leviathan.
It's literally the exact same size as the skeleton in game.
Alpha reaper leviathan this can be something the player makes after killing one of the reapers they get dna witch they can mix with the gargantuans dna after killing it (or just finding it cuz no ones going to try to fight that thing mabey to to get the gargantuan dna you can find it’s scales and get it from that) then adding them both together to get a egg you can only put in a biome like the void or somewhere else giant to get the iconic reaper leviathan but more terrifying

I also wonder if or when someone is going to replace the void’s… well, void of a floor (as it doesn’t exist in the game!) into the scrapped “single celled” biome (I know this isn’t really relevant to this video but I want to see that biome in game).
