@2good2be4gotten well, I bought a Z flip a month ago, so it's still kinda new. I haven't made it my main device since, I'm still afraid of typing furiously on the screen or playing a game say COD where I have to constantly press on a particular part of the screen, so that's that. I have found it to be durable enough though, the screen isn't like jelly (something reviewers convey), its hard enough. The display is brilliant, the camera sucks in low light, so I use Gcam instead and it performs better than a pixel in some cases. Performance, as expected isn't a problem. Not that it was on my 3 yr old Note8, so maybe my needs aren't that large. The WOW factor is real !!!!!! The outside screen is a bit more useful than what people say and I'm satisfied with the hinge and the overall quality. Doesn't feel like a second gen device tbf and content consumption is a joy ! Would have loved a high refresh rate though. No cons as such up and until now. Would probably learn more about it as I gain more confidence and use it as a daily driver. Quinn is spot on for once when he says that the display is something that only Iphones have been since the Iphone 6. It literally feels like things are painted on the screen and the effect is especially apparent on the homescreen with a good inky wallpaper. The haptic feedback is ok, and the crease is as bothersome as an iphone notch. Totally worth the price, I got it for 1300$ roughly in Europe.
@2good2be4gotten when you talk about the viewing quality it is top notch. On the go it holds up well in terms of battery. I don't use the stock you tube app, so can't really talk about what optimisations has the app undergone for folds yet, but I suppose that the 'laptop mode' is supported.
@2good2be4gotten Additionally, I have binged on the Premiere League matchdays which means 5-6 hours of continuous live streaming and not once have I been worried about the phone dying on me. For me it is a one and a half day battery life with normal use.
The most interesting thing about the flip for me is that it feels normal and reliable. I think another +1 for the Z flip (and other folding phones) is that their screens are nearly impervious to large cracks like a conventional phone. Sure, the display is physically softer, but at the end of the day, I would rather have a few nicks and scratches than a shattered display.

You're obviously free to purchase whatever you want but if you buy the 2020 Razr instead of the Z Flip, you're a fool who's giving Motorola the OK to release a weak overpriced phone. Nostalgia isn't worth $1,500+Tax. You'd literally be paying MORE for LESS. Even if the Razr was $1,300+Tax instead, you'd be wise to spend the extra $100 for the Z Flip for the much better specs it brings.
Been waiting for this for days, ever since you mentioned the upcoming Into The Fold episode a few videos back! Not that I'd have the money to get the next iteration in of the flip without winning the lottery, but, it's my favorite phone in YEARS and by far THE BEST reviewer ever, what's not to love!
I regret so much that I sent mine back as I was worried how it would last over time, I have the note 20 ultra now but would give anything to have my z flip back
I daily a Z Flip. Durability wise it seems pretty great. It's incredibly durable as you say. I treat it like all my previous phones. I had dirt get into the hinge (yardwork, dirt got Into pocket somehow). The dirt after brushed off and folded like 2 times was removed.
I would hope when my contract ends on my phone theres a new zflip out, if so I'll be picking it up definitely, its the way forward. However, it needs a headphone jack.
I love the idea of foldable phones, and I've already reserved the Z Fold 2, but I find the Z flip to be a bit... Reckless, maybe? The downsides to a folding phone (fragile soft inner screen, increased price tag, etc) should come with major improvements that benefit me every time I use the phone. The Z flip folds to be easier to store, which isn't something I've ever needed improvement in. The Z fold, on the other hand, creates more usable space when you want it, and the familiar phablet form factor when you don't. Until we get to a point where we end up with foldable phones that you wear like a watch when not in use or something like that. I can't imagine the future of foldables being anything other than "tablet when you want it, phone when you don't"
I know this is old, but clamshell foldables aren't for people like you. They're for people like basically all women, whose clothes' pockets don't fit literally any normal sized phone but CAN fit a clamshell foldable. Or for people who just really appreciate the extra space in their pocket and the extra features it provides like Flex Mode for taking photos. Sure, I'm not one of those people, you're not one of those people, but TRUUUUUST ME they most DEFINITELY exist! AND not only that, but they outnumber us "tablet style foldable people" like ≈5:1! 🤷 (The Z Flip & RAZR outsell the Fold & Open by many, MANY orders of magnitude.)
Neither do 98+ percent of people out there in the real world. I'm fascinated by the bubble of people who truly believe that foldables are the future. The'es so much more evidence to suggest that they WON'T be.
One of the biggest things I noticed going from my old resistive touchscreen dumb phone to a smartphone was how nice the glass screen felt in comparison. It was such a big deal to me that it was more prominent than the fact it was a smartphone. I think the mushy, sticky, nasty feeling of soft plastic would be enough to drive me away from any foldable by itself.
@@tech4days162 note 20 ultra is the only phone that I'm happy with this year s20 series wasn't good can't wait to play xbox on my phone on September 15th
Yeah I’m gonna give a big “X to doubt” on how well it holds up when treated like in your example videos from other people. Something tells me they are making their test results show what they want them to show. I’m sure the phone can handle some immediate abuse and still work. What I’m not sure of is how much of that abuse that phone can take over 3-5 years or whether I would actually want to use it after it had been through anything remotely as crazy as some of the shown abuse. Just because it technically still works doesn’t mean I want to use it anymore. A normal smartphone with a cracked screen can still work, but I’ll be damned if I’m going to use a phone with a cracked screen for more than a few days without doing something about it
🤦 ... Snazzy Labs used that OG Z Flip he threw around in that infamous video as his daily driver for literally like two years before upgrading to a Flip 3. Sure, spontaneous cracking down the fold-line from normal folding/unfolding after a decent amount of time (usually ≈1-2 years) was a really big problem with those first generation of UTG folding glass foldables, but they were already SHOCKINGLY resistant to things like general drops and smacks, and light-moderate scratches really weren't a major issue either. 🤷 (The protective PET plastic layer could get permanently gouged/indented with enough pressure like say pushing down with a nail and dragging it across, but it was actually surprisingly resistant to general surface level scratches from things like accidental nail contact and general wear & tear). Aka, turns out they were actually shockingly & surprisingly durable!.... Until all the sudden they weren't... 🤷 But not from any external damage, but rather just opening up the phone one day. And while definitely improved w/ the Fold/Flip 3, this problem wouldn't REALLY get solved until the 2nd generation of Schott's UTG folding glass that debuted on the Fold/Flip 4.
thank you so, so, much for making this video!! i've been really hesitant about buying this phone because i've been so worried about the scratches and durability, but this video completely helped ease my worries lol!! i'm 100% going to try to buy this phone, i just love it so much! what a wonderful review!!

Your love for trek is one of the many reasons why I love your content. And somewhat ashamed of how high that is on the.
SAME! Infact he actually liked one of my memes I made on my Star Trek IG account (note my profile pic) about how the Razr is so expensive in Australian dollars, you can check it out here: instagram.com/p/CAFyM3jFWBI/?igshid=1uaxbk277w8t1

Must admit that your writing is top notch. The intro you give, the way you end adds so much weight to what you want to convey. Your literature game is strong. Love it!
Still loving my galazy z flip, i also treat it like a regular phone (i have the included "case" and thats it), no scratches or damage to the screen, the folding system works like day 1 and it still is a really fast phone with virtually no lag!
I love it.
#1 reason why I love Mr.Mobile: the transparency at the end of every video. Very well deserved 1 million subs!!

Congratulations on reaching 1 million subscribers. It's about bloody time... You're easily the best tech UA-camrs.
Still use my fold everyday and I work on building sites dusty dirty environments and its still perfect cant wait for the z fold 2 the flip is cool just to small now i couldn't go back to a regular phone.
Congrats on reaching 1 million subs man!! It's beyond well deserved.
Been following you since 2013 (nearly a third of my life...) and still enjoy every second. The way you speak is very captivating.
Hope you have a great day!
Isa!!!!!!! 😍😍😍
I'm always pleasantly surprised by how interconnected the UA-cam tech world is
Have mine since launch and still lovin' it. I do believe they are the future and can't wait to get the Z Fold 2 as well.
I've had one of these for about two weeks now, and I love it
I love how Michael takes every opportunity to mention or show his love of the Star Trek fandom.
I think another +1 for the Z flip (and other folding phones) is that their screens are nearly impervious to large cracks like a conventional phone. Sure, the display is physically softer, but at the end of the day, I would rather have a few nicks and scratches than a shattered display.
How often do you see a shattered display these days though, it's quite rare, scratches are more common in my experience.
@@awesomeferret My Google pixel 3 xl that I love is terribly cracked at the moment. There are even some spaces on the screen where the pixels have given out
@@awesomeferret how often? Like, always? It's the main cause of people buying new phones!
Lol this aged SOOOO bad. 🤣 Those first generation UTG ("Ultra Thin Glass") foldables (Flip, Flip 5G, Fold 2) shattered down the fold line like fucking CRAZY!!! In cold weather they would shatter if you even just looked at them funny! UTG didn't get ok until the 2nd Gen w/ Fold/Flip 3 and didn't get REALLY good until the latest 3rd Gen that launched w/ the Fold/Flip 4.
It warms my heart to see this channel grow! I absolutely melt when I get a notification that you've released a new video. Your class and style are like no other, congratulations on the 1 mil! 😉
As someone who works in construction this is the folding phone for me. Now to convince my boss....
It's 1 Million. You deserve much much more and soon all to come. Congratulations my man!

God, the Tricorder UI skin adds so much to the dark gray version. I'm willing to be a lot that there's more than a few Trekkies on their design team.
What’s that skin called in the Play store? I so want it!

I've had my Z Flip for 4 months and still love it. The only thing it is missing is Samsung Dex. I have no idea why they removed that..
Mine broke :(
Wow, Samsung didn't bother responding to a tech review UA-camr with 1 million subscribers (congrats btw)? WTF? Really poor show on the part of Samsung's marketing and PR team.
Congrats on 1million! You deserve it!

Hello Mike, this probably is not important to you because your review of of the z flip phones but I had to tell you that if you click on the time on tiny screen once it shows you your signal strength. Have a good week!
Yeah, I probably would have bought the Razr, but it's on Verizon& I don't have Verizon& I'm not gonna switch for a phone. [Cool as it is.]

Also, I typed this without looking at my keyboard.

Edit: it's almost I care more about features/gadgetiness than silicon.
@@EmeraldLavigne It still doesn't change the FACT that the Z Flip is more powerful with a flagship processor, has a bigger battery/better battery life, superior cameras AT A CHEAPER PRICE than the 2020 Razr.
So happy to see you reach 1 million subs, you truly deserve it. Been a long time fan of yours. I am really looking forward to your ZF2 impressions.
9:12 something weird in the video when the car drives behind the phone?
Most likely the focus going in and out
Been waiting for this for days, ever since you mentioned the upcoming Into The Fold episode a few videos back! Not that I'd have the money to get the next iteration in of the flip without winning the lottery, but, it's my favorite phone in YEARS and by far THE BEST reviewer ever, what's not to love!
I regret so much that I sent mine back as I was worried how it would last over time, I have the note 20 ultra now but would give anything to have my z flip back
Daniel Ager just return the note n get a z flip again
If it makes you feel better, I'd personally take the Note 20 Ultra any day.
@@MrGurpro I wanted to get it originally but my carrier in the UK doesn't stock it and its a big bit of change to drop on one
@@CockatooDude tbh the note is great, just lacking that uniqueness
I daily a Z Flip. Durability wise it seems pretty great.
It's incredibly durable as you say. I treat it like all my previous phones. I had dirt get into the hinge (yardwork, dirt got Into pocket somehow). The dirt after brushed off and folded like 2 times was removed.
This is my first reveal video. I'm a nervous virgin now
The last part 🤣😂 made me laugh you think that's hard try been a dad of 4 than you see

However, it needs a headphone jack.
Eyyyy Congrats on 1M!!! Love your reviews!🙂
The Z flip is my favorite phone of the year
for me Z fold 2
Yes this is the old school review format I love even more! Please keep it coming Mr Fisher !
The phone is only 6 months old and the next gen is already available. Manufacturers release phones too frequently...
Exactly
Samsung always had six months refresh cycle
@@Matanumi Not for the Galaxy S line... very. VERY Obviously...
It isn’t exactly next gen, it simply has 5G and a faster SoC, so people won’t complain about it having last year’s SoC.
On the bright side you can pick up a phones that's basically the same at half or even a 3rd of the price that's fully supported with high end specs
Flip 3 is even better. 🔥
~ Tommy from the future.
The best part is the disclaimer that you didn't use the device 24hrs a day, something most reviewers ommit. Great video Michael!
I'm waiting for a better form factor foldable. The Fold does't benefit me. I don't have a problem with current phone sizes so...
Neither do 98+ percent of people out there in the real world. I'm fascinated by the bubble of people who truly believe that foldables are the future. The'es so much more evidence to suggest that they WON'T be.
Folding it around your face to talk is brilliant! It must feel like a real old school phone. I'm looking forward to the Fold 2 review
"Admiral Kirk style".....*doesn't include Star Trek clip for fear of a copyright strike*
It happens.....
I’m still so torn between the z fold 2 and the z flip

To boldly go where no one has gone before.

(The protective PET plastic layer could get permanently gouged/indented with enough pressure like say pushing down with a nail and dragging it across, but it was actually surprisingly resistant to general surface level scratches from things like accidental nail contact and general wear & tear).
@Cooe. you realize my comment is 3 years old right? Why necro
Man I been watching you for a long time im glad you went out on your own. Congrats on hitting 1mill.
