Every time someone asks me why I'm 2jz swapping my rusty ass 38 year old Toyota truck instead of buying something nice, I watch your Fairmont videos.
Your love for the Green Demon while you leave your Mustang in eternal purgatory reassures me that its okay to illogically love shitty vehicles.
Thanks for helping keep the dream alive. 🤙
It's always a great thing to do some investigative probing and learn what hurt what and why.
Looking forward to spicy 6 liter action!
As always appreciate the honesty, helps us learn as well.
It’s nice when it’s not as bad as was anticipated. 👍🏼. It’s gonna be fun.
Watching
(Admittedly Fairmont 7 is pretty nice, not shitty, but the point remains)
Its right! Even went out to the garage to see! The small vent hole is in the front on the spare set of head gaskets in the garage…….
We've embossed them worse than that. I think it was pulling the threads out on ours. Just didn't feel like they tightened up right. Might be an aluminum block thing...
Maybe a bit of smuts in the hole that didn’t blow out
She’s gonna be mint!
Love the vids, thanks.
As soon as i watched this, i went out to my garage and stuck my fingers up through the coolant ports to make sure i put the headgasket on correctly lol
Oh, happy birthday btw....
Can you get a fuel tech going for a play list one day
What else are you supposed to do with the gasket? Pretty sure it said front on the gasket that was at the front of the block.
Looked right to me too!!
Well... at this point I fee like its a moral obligation for you to take the almost hydraulically seized motor and make power with it.
I'm sure the #1 rod is _mostly_ straight.
Where do you find engine!?
Landed it!
2:31 I thought this motor had a china boy headstuds on it? Why does that bottom left stud look like a parts been broken off while the rest of them clearly have hex heads?
To install header from underneath it was hitting stud too so I sliced it off
Forgetfulness comes with old age.
So on the head gasket issue, I have a MLS gasket with just rear open water ports on my SBF for years without issues making 700hp+....soooo idk why yours would have issues.
these have no rear ports lol essentially zero water flow on this side of the engine other than steam port 8th inch hole
Matt. Buddy. Don’t reuse head gaskets unless you just like taking them apart. I don’t. Been boosting the shit outta mine for over 3 years (seen 25psi a few times) with arp head bolts and new ls9 BTR gaskets. I would not trust the China head bolts or studs. Ima cheap broke ass too. But even I won’t cheap out on this. I feel like once you crush the gasket, it looses the crush when you remove it. My buddy reuses gaskets and has had issues. I won’t chance it. I hate pulling heads.
You must be new here. He’s been doing dumb shit for years and totally successful. The sloppy gods just paying him back now
So your trying to teach the teacher huh? 😂
New round these parts?
@@rpturbo I won’t lie. I’ve been building engines, turbo kits, full exhaust systems, transmissions and porting heads far longer than he’s been in this game. I’m pretty sure I could teach him a thing or two. I have learned some things from him as well. But consider the issues he’s had in the past with the last few builds with head gasket issues….reusing gaskets/bolts or using chinesium bolts….ive not had those issues and its not like I’m only pushing 8-10 psi on my motor. It seees over 20psi on the regular for the past three years, semi daily driven and not babied. So in my opinion, I’m giving him some good advice to save him time and money. There’s plenty of people in this world who know quite a bit and don’t post UA-cam videos on it. Doesn’t mean they don’t know as much as the next guy. Just means they might be an introvert like I am. I feel dumb talking to a camera like I’m talking to a person. Just can’t seem to get over that.
@@FergusonBoatworks nope. Been watching him since the 9 second video eating an ice cream cone.
