ooo, about the auditory processing while ordering:
as a barista whenever people struggle to understand what i'm saying more then once, it try to explain it in a sentence.
like "Did you want the nonfat milk?" When they ask for sugar free vanilla, because most people do.
and if they don't get it "Did you want the regular 2% milk, or did you want the nonfat?" That way even if they get lost on the same word they have more context to clue it together.
If y'all feel bad about asking to repeat it a few times- DW. we don't mind, as long as you're askin' nicely ahah
Pretty much every time I order coffee. I suddenly forget how it works. I get menu anxiety or something and I'll just pick one. I'm like a deer in headlights.
@@danielletrimmer8393 I feel like most of us behind the counter understand- I mean I still get nervous ordering at the place i work HAHA.
I really dont mind people being nervous or asking questions. If it help, unless you're super rude we also probably wont remember you because of how many people we see a day /pos
yo thats so sweet! i work retail and frequently run into the same thing but ive never really thought of just rephrasing it (even though now it seems so obvious lol) so ill def be using that in the future
I remember my first visit to New York, not a native speaker, going into a McDump for some fries - the woman behind the counter asked me something and I couldn't make it out. I asked her if she could say that a bit slower and she went down by maybe 1%. I had to ask her to go slower like three to for times before one of the customers told me the word she repeated was actually "to stay or to go?" which I would never had made out in a million years even if I wasn't so tired from the flight. So thank you so much for giving more context, it feels really awkward having to ask so many times just because you're not clued in to foreign customs.
@@Barbayat79 There's def some assholes- but I think 99% of my coworkers have always been chill about it- i worked at a store in texas once so we got a lot of people who spoke mostly Spanish. being bilingual is hard and impressive!
One way I’ve found to circumvent my auditory processing problems is to repeat back what you think you heard them say.
For example: instead of just saying “what?” or “excuse me?” you would say “no more of what?”
This allows the other person to clarify the misunderstanding or prompts them to rephrase their question instead of repeating the same sentence over and over again
You know it's a great day when there's a Goobers playing Observation Duty 👏👏
Goober gang
goofy goobers
So relaxing fr 🩷
Goobservation duty
I ABSOLUTELY AGREE ‼️‼️🫡
I’ve become so desensitized to horror games that I saw this and thought “oh I’m gonna fall asleep to this tn perfect.” Little me crying after playing FNAF would be so proud.
I don't normally comment, but I thoroughly relate to the situation with the auditory processing situation. I experience that a lot and the anxiety that comes with it is awful. One of my jobs is a server and when it happens while I'm taking orders is so stressful. I've had to go back to tables to ask for clarification.
I apologise if this is an impertinent question but is there anything that the person on the other end of the conversation could do to help? All I can think of is to find a different way to say the same thing but I wouldn't want that to come across as patronising
that is my biggest reason for never working as a waitress
So true. And even if you would ask in this instence "no more what?" people often act like you understood the first time and say something completely different or explain but you would still need the knowledge of what was said before.
One time I just blew up because after I said "sorry what" they just built on top of what they said before. So I had double no clue what was said. So I repeated what I have heard and made clear that when I say "sorry what" or "sorry I didn't understand" means you should repeat the whole thing and not say something completely different that doesn't help at all. OK this was with someone I know and not a waiter or something bu still.
If I think I’m hearing a word or statement wrong, I usually repeat what I hear, and if the person meant something else, they say what they meant
Has worked for me
@@LittleMissSyreid I might be able to answer this, cause I experience the same thing. Personally, no. There's nothing the other person can do. When it pops up I ususally say "Hey could you repeat yourself? *repeats sentence* Sorry could you repeat again, my brain isn't picking up what you're say. *repeats* Sorry man, I know your saying words my brain can't process it. Could you ask later?"
Edit: To clarify, no matter how you rephrase the sentence or repeat it. The unknown words could happen at the beginning, middle or end. Like the first part might be picked up after 2 repeats but suddenly you might miss the entire thing. It sounds like Sim talk or people singing/rapping without words. The auditory process issue happens personally happens at random, for a unknown duration. Sometimes, it lasts seconds to minutes.
The soundtrack Gabs uses with these playthroughs slaps 🥰
I honestly forget that its not actually apart of the game.
It never feels right watching someone else play these games and it's silent. The music makes it so much better.
The music is here on UA-cam. Search for "John Carpenter Style Retro Synth MIX" and you'll find it.
Karl Casey has a YT channel with over 500 copyright free tracks, and over 100 playlists. I came to know of this music through these playthroughs and when Neebs Gaming did a run of Generation Zero. I commute to work to his music. 🤘😎🤘 Check em out at White Bat Audio.
@@ivaneames4354I had only ever seen Markiplier do these games sometime after Gab did. It's just not remotely the same without Karl's epic tracks. 🤘😎🤘
Not that two heads are always better than one in a creative endeavour, but when you were talking about how you would like to make an indie horror game one day, my first reaction was that you and John Wolfe should collaborate. You both have a great love for the horror genre, and you both have played SO many games. I think it would be fascinating to see what ideas you would come up with together.
My god, I SOOO feel you on just not understanding what people ask/say. Happens to me all the time even in my native language. I seriously don't know if this scenario is worse in person or on the phone...
I'm just like, yeah, let me just curl up in my dark corner and never ever talk to people again, thank you. And you still keep thinking about it for the rest of the day!!
CONCRETE FOOT!!!! YES!!!!! Who else was there for the concrete foot incident?
I LAUGHED when it was mentioned 😂
It took me a minute to remember 😂
that was so funny 😂😂
I tried finding it but I couldn't :') Can somebody link it?
I have been looking for so long do you know timestamp and what para eyes vid?
@@gcAlex2003 DARK MODE -Para eyes at 13:08
Holy hell, I've seen the door open before but not in the act of opening. That was loud.
15:45 for reference.
57:51 that was me!!! I said that joke!!! Out here feeling starstruck
Just a friendly reminder that you have a whole fanbase by your side, Gabs XD you could definitely get that game done. I can volunteer for concept art and the like! Bet there's more people out there who'd totally be down to working on something like this
That guy on the toilet was like dude I’m in here🤣🤣🤣
i think i have found the perfect cozy night combo fresh out of the shower after a long day mac n cheese and gabs playing observation duty
GOOBY ON DUTY!!
SCREAMING CRYING THROWING UP RAINBOWS. OMG IM SO HAPPY 😭💖
Hokey, settle down-

WAKE UP NEW GAB OBSERVATION DUTY POSTED!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I don't usually comment but for some strange reason gabs observation duty videos are my new background comfort videos, and when I saw there was a new one I got SO EXCITED!!! Thank you so much!!!
41:43 Entrance: An extra street light appears by Gab's head
43:42 Elevators: Cups disappear off of the chest of drawers between the elevators
It is probably just cause it has been a while but everything looks wrong now lol. The onl thing that didnt look wrong to me was the extra tap on the sink :P
It would be so awesome if you made your own observation duty game. You can design Japanese themed levels, put all the posters and stuff in kanji, then have changing characters as an anomaly. And whenever the clock strikes 4 : 44 you can have some kind of yokai intruder spawn.
I didn't know trains have bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms.
I think its like a sleeper train
Oh ok.@@emiime5481
Any remotely modern train has bathrooms with touch operated doors, bar car, usually at the back and electric ramps for disabled people. Bedrooms are not common, except in sleeper trains which drive really long distances.
@@zlatan_2197imagine no bathroom in a sleeper train though
@@pemanilnoob That would be an interesting ride for sure
Wohoo another new observation duty!!! I cant wait and thankyou for your constant uploads!!!
Good ol 3:00 in the morning in Australia!
I *NEEDED* THIS RN! Thank you so much ❤
I'm going through a lot of stress currently and seeing one of my favourite playthroughs getting posted, calmed me down so much!
Can't wait to play Midnight Crisis, ready and waiting to add to my wishlist
Oh it makes me so happy to see a new video of Observation Duty !! I started following you thanks to this game, and I haven't stopped since then ! Thank you, Gab, you've been a huge help in my help, you're so soothing and great, please do never stop ahah ♥
My favourite variation of auditory processing disorder is when someone says something and you're like, "What?- Oh yeah I got it." Like a delay in hearing it. In the beginning of my relationship before I found out I'm autistic, it intrigued my darling so much. Now it amuses him and he usually waits a while so I can catch up and just smiles
I was just rewatching the observation duty playlist. What a great gift to see in my notifications!!!
Yay another observation duty video! 😊
This is just what I needed after I woke up with my voice gone
35:22 just a krobie, don’t worry about it
an observation duty where there is ALWAYS a small object moving, and the further out of place it gets the more anomalies appear in their respective cameras, you can reset each anomaly but resetting the moved object resets the whole screen. The worse the mess, the more drained the health/power gets :)
Cozy time chills
Honestly Gabs is my go-to videos instead of Netflix when i get off work the comedy to scare comments makes me laugh Everytime 😂
Another Gab Observation Duty vid? Well that just makes my day lol
This videos while I'm working, are just perfect!
Was just watching the old one! I love these vids💕
it's so funny that I started humming/singing exactly at the same time at 53:26 XD
Love when stuff like that happens LMAO
Gab? Observation duty? Oh, hell yeah!
For future reference, the panel of buttons in the drivers area are all one thing, if the switches move then the buttons move
Yaaaaay!!! You made my day so much better, Gab, thank you!
Contributing to the discussion around 1 hour mark: I am terrible at hearing what people say too. Mostly it's a delayed comprehension but sometimes I simply can't hear, probably because of my tinnitus.
Anyway, when I was in high school a new girl from southern Sweden moved here. I'm born and raised in the northern parts. For those who don't know, the southernmost region is heavily influenced by Danish. This meant it was really hard to understand what she said. I was so sick of saying "what?" all the time.
One day she asked me something and I responded "it's half past 11". Turned out she asked what was served for lunch.
Her dialect watered down eventually though so I didn't have to deal with this for long.
I'm really bad with not understanding anyone who speaks in a way I'm not used to...even when English is also their native language. Once I get used to it, I can understand just fine.
So cool that there is s new Obsavation Duty gameplay from you Gab. It has been a while since the last one. And I missed the music so much. Thanks very much for this one 😊😊😍😍👍👍
Hi Gab! I listen to that music a lot ever since I've started watching your spooky Observation Duty videos! I also am in the middle of watching your Stardew playlist too! Just wanted to say hi!😊
Gab your tattoos are so sick🤟❤️
SLIGHT NOSTALGIAAAAAAAAAA 💓
Goofy aah magazine.
Not me just realizing you and Seán have the same (if not, similar) eyeglasses.
IK THE CONCRETE FOOT
But I didn't watch it when it was fresh. I'd watch your OD games and fangames when I got bored at night. 😂
52:07
Surprised they don't have that as a legit poster. 😂
3aM?!? OoOoH nOoOoOo!
But also, Gab patting hs on the back and saying "good job" to hs is the most egocentric thing I've ever seen her do. 😂
Gab: "but this c h a i r I'm just now noticing."
That's okay.
*I thought the wheelchair was new.*
"Bring in the doctor."
Sounds like a soap opera abt a hospital. 😂
The dodoo man in the Bathroom!!! The smile and twistie head!
Yayyy that's new OD video! ❤❤❤
_"I would notice if a snack had moved!"_
I've never related to a UA-camr this much before :p
Yesss, absolutely love these vids
I wasn't expecting you to play this game, again! 🙃
Reporting for duty, Madam 😎
YAY!!!
Goobus was made for observation duty and observation duty was made for goobus
Auditory Processing Disorder...pain in the ass! It's so bad in crowds or when both your kids are talking. I ask my kids to come up to my ear. It sucks when it hurts to hear too! All the sympathy! I highly recommend the Loop Switch earbuds, the filter out so much and it makes hearing just voices so much easier to me.
Ayyyyyyyeeeeee we back baby!
OMG I forgot we hadn't finished this I'm so excited
Gab manifesting be like:
"If I were a million dollars I'd be in this... BANK ACCOUNT.... BANK ACOUNT....
This... BANK ACCOUNT"
Me, while I am out of a job 😂😊
Yippee, more observation duty!
I was saying this at my screen the whole time you played the hospital level, so I guess I'll actually make a comment about it haha:
The hospital, funnily enough, is not the level where you'll find the doctor. It's very misleading that he's called the doctor and not in the hospital, but that's just how it is I guess cx
(**Spoiler warning** if you want to figure out which level he is in on your own:
he's actually in the university level)
Yaaaaaaaaaaas I was hoping she'd come back to this one day
I loooveee these videos!! So happy observation duty is back💞💞🩷
The shoes had me going, too. The regular position is definitely with the right shoe on the left and vice versa, that is very unsettling to see. So it feels wrong even though it's correct ;)
YESS MORE OBSERVATION DUTY :D
I would pay so much money to play a game made by Gabs. Literally would be a DREAM.
One thing about games like this is that I find things like the fire escape door being open to be anomalous, because I know that fire code requires those doors to be kept closed when not in use, to delay the spread of fire and smoke to other floors via the stair well in the event of a fire. So I would have immediately made an erroneous report.
I'd agree if they're only ajar, as they usually have pneumatic hinges so they're always forced close, but I've also seen ones that have an electro-magnetic latch poking out of the floor coupled to a steel plate in the door so they can stay fully open, until the fire alarm goes off at which point the electro-magnet turns off and then the door closes itself thanks to the pneumatic hinge.
of course I've also seen people wedge something under the door to keep it open and faulty pneumatic hinges that don't force the doors to close, so seeing one ajar in a game with spooky intruders and monsters isnt too far-fetched either
I have adhd! I was just diagnosed last year but I've been struggling obviously through my whole life; I also think that I have autism too, but that's another story. I'm also always mis-hearing people all the time, it's as if sometimes my brain can't process certain things that people say, besides the fact that I have tinnitus really bad (it sounds like someone left a faucet on inside my head...😅)
OH ITS AN OBSERVATION DAY!!!! ❤
I was just telling my boss that I struggle with auditory hallucinations and auditory processing disorder and she straight up said “I’m not going to lie that sounds made up” !! I have a super cool boss so that stung a lil bit.
I've missed this game 😂
Second wow i am not usually this early ❤ i love the observation Duty content
yo im early
Fr 😂
Your story about the coffee reminds me of when my friend and I went to Belfast, went to a shop and I thought the lady asked "would you like a bike?" and I was so confused, but she said "would you like a bag". Had so much trouble with the accent lol.
And the name "Midnight Crisis" is fire
there's a game a lot like the repeating train thing, this, and exit 8 called hospital 666, its a coop game tooso you could play it with séan
33:32 wow she missed an obvious one, the sign that usually says "(something) manor"
Not only am I excited to see some Observation Duty content, but also to see Gab's beautiful face! I aspire to be half as pretty as she is! ❤
your whole look today is fiiiiiire🔥
Yesss finally more observation dutyyyy
At 33:33 the hotel sign says "LEAVE US NOW"
i have auditory processing problems, I woked at a cafe and this couple came in and the guy had a heavy accent. Everytime he ask for his drink I would look at my till as if it was going to translate for me but. alas has to ask "sorry what??" his girlfriend after few attempts was like...DR PEPPER. I was like OH! yes yes okay!. So embarrasing
Talking about that hearing disorder... I normally have it, but I've learned to put the pieces together by context, I still need to think and make people wait for an answer, but I eventually get it.
But there´s this guy at the place where I work, he talks super fast and everyone seems to understand him perfectly, but I just can't, I hide from him so I don't have to make conversation.
When she talks about seating for so long. I felt that, born with my hip out of place and lately if I sit for not long. My butt bone starts to hurt. I’m only 22😭😭😭
Wait, was this a stream??
On what platform??
I'm subt on twitch... So whare???
Was the stream where she waited for stardew 1.6 to drop
Now *this* was an unexpected video. Not that I'm complaining.
smile day is on my birthday!
1:04:00 I also hate when I don't hear at first, ask what they'd said, and then my brain decides to actually process it, so I understand what I heard about fifteen to twenty seconds after the fact, and am like "Oh! yeah." and then the other person's confused why I asked them to repeat it and then cut them off.
Yeah, I was often embarrassed about my auditory processing issues from ADHD at work, where it was especially bad due to a lot of noise in the background. I've definitely gotten better at asking people to repeat things and doing what I can to focus in on their words. Otherwise, all the sounds are just kind of running together at roughly the same level of awareness until I really key into what someone is saying (which might sound like gibberish up until that point).
midnight gab duty game sounds scary. i bet she knows alota ways to creep n psych ppl out. lotta experience in the spook. spookerience if u will
As a barista with auditory processing issues, I feel you on that, but in the opposite way xD
I always feel so bad when I ask for someone's name, have them repeat it, and I still hear gibberish. I just leave the name blank and it's confusing for them when they pick up their order :')
I've gotten better about asking them to spell their name, even if I think I heard it right, but sometimes they just walk away without telling me or don't hear me either! Lol
Definitely showing my age @11:40 I started singing the DuckTales theme song
OMG English is my one and only spoken language and let me tell you I STRUGGLE with the same issue where someone is saying something to me and I have absolutely no idea what they are saying, something as simple as your experience of someone saying Milk just a /little/ differently my brain breaks 😂 thank you for another observation sesh!!!
have you tried 'hospital 666' its new observation game but multiplayer
The lever and the switches were both the opposite ways, it was all one thing, you pointed it out and didnt notice it. ;p... giggles...
my day has been made
As someone who used to work in customer service (ice cream parlor), I can tell you I'm usually the one who feels bad when the customer doesn't understand me. Someone who has good people skills will find another way to relay the info. For instance, instead of repeating the same thing over and over, she could have elaborated to give you context with something like "would you like normal dairy milk, skim dairy, oat milk, soy milk...?" Those examples would have given you the context you needed to parse it out.
Don't feel embarrassed! I promise anyone worth caring about isn't judging you for that.
i get the auditory processing thing so much. its especially bad on phone calls because of the speaker quality and some people talk with their mouth too close to mic. i used to work at domino's pizza and i fucked up SO many phone call orders while i was also trying to navigate the shitty order input screen TT-TT
YES OD!!!
Woohoo!
What video has the concrete foot??
