So the title of the Game is a prayer of protection from the Psalms :
« Conduct me, O Lord, in thy justice: because of my enemies, direct my way in thy sight. For there is no truth in their mouth; their heart is vain. Their throat is an open sepulchre: they dealt deceitfully with their tongues: judge them, O God. Let them fall from their devices: according to the multitude of their wickedness cast them out: for they have provoked thee, O Lord. But let all them be glad that hope in thee: they shall rejoice for ever, and thou shalt dwell in them. And all they that love thy name shall glory in thee: For thou wilt bless the just. O Lord, thou hast crowned us, as with a shield of thy good will. »
Considering the deceitful nature of the anomalies, this passage is appropriate.
Further edit: the last verse is considered a twelfth verse in Protestant translations of the Bible, while Catholic translations have it as the thirteenth verse.
Actually psalms only goes up to 12, there IS no 13.
Psalms 5:9-12 are:
Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with malice. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongues they tell lies.
Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.
But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
@@timburtonluver28 I was using the Douay-Rheims translation, which lists the last one as the thirteenth verse. Protestant bibles list it as the twelfth.
Edit: I checked and it turns out Catholic bibles have it as a thirteenth verse.
@@johanr4076 totally fair, I am not versed in holy scripture at all and the first result on google just said there was no 13th - either way both seem to work to some extent, at least imo?
@@timburtonluver28 yeah the creator of the game is either a Catholic or made use of a Catholic bible or both.
@@timburtonluver28 or he made use of a Protestant bible and thought an additional thirteenth verse would be anomalous, as someone else in this comment section suggested. Though this would kinda work for only a number of Bible versions, not all.
20:58 normally cheap jumpscares just annoy me but that one actually made me flinch hard enough to hurt (again). Jeebus, getting old aint too fun.
I've gotten to the point where I'm not normally fazed by horror games, but they did a good job with the atmosphere of this one and I'm regretting watching it before bed
21:08 Omg, finally! Someone who gets that feeling too! I've tried to explain to my mom that when I get suddenly scared, my skin literally prickles like a cactus, and she doesn't understand it! Its such a horrible feeling... 😭 Edit: I'm realizing my choice of words was a little off with what I'm describing. When I say my skin prickles, I meant that it HURTS like I'm getting pricked by a cactus! It's not goosebumps, that's a completely different feeling!
The hair follicles raise under your skin and so you get these funny looking tiny bumps all over your skin briefly (goose bumps)and your hair sticks up straight haha
It can also happen when one is feeling cold. So maybe she thought you are just cold 😅
My armpits start itching in that way when I get scared, it’s not my favorite 😅

We need more UA-camrs that don’t over dramatically scream with every jump scare. Evelyn’s reactions are totally authentic.
I'm not a big horror fan and don't play horror stuff myself, but there's just something about how Gab plays/comments on them that makes me enjoy horror games. ☺Gab, if you see this I have a game suggestion: Miasmata by IonFx Studios. It's an older game but I think you might like it; it's about navigating an island trying to create a cure for a mystery disease while being stalked by a monster. I couldn't finish it myself because it got too scary (😅) but I really liked some of the unique things the devs did with the beautiful scenery, collection & exploration + horror combo.
I think, for me at least, it's cos she's so chill. Even when it's scary, she's not screaming the house down lol so you're not getting jump scared by the game AND the player's reaction haha

I feel like this is a better evolution of the "walking sim" horror. You really are just walking around and doing simple puzzles, but it does it in a way where it feels like you are actually doing something by witnessing the anomalies, in contrast to other games where you just walk around and stuff happens that you have little to no bearing on.

Came here right after watching the short. Very spooky! 👻 I really liked how they were able to give it a found footage feel with the filter on the camera. I was thinking our character’s hand looked weird the whole time, guess we found out why 😂 thanks for the video ✨✨

Normally I do not get scared. I love all things horror. But I jumped bad when the demon was leaning on the desk. You even got a OH, F out of me. This game was amazing. This dev is awesome!❤❤ That demon is the one from The Mortuary's assistant.
At 5:30 on the left side, behind the couch, Gab missed a small little jumpscare. Everyone I've watched (except CJU) missed it too :) No one thinks to look at the backside of the couch.

1:01 Blinders, yeah? Narrowing the field of vision makes movement seem more sudden, less natural as your eyes don't have as much time to take in the environment as you pan across. Too wide a field of view causes a similar woozyness as objects seem to stretch at the edge of our vision. It helps in a game/film with an unsteady POV to match the screen to our eyes. That's why the 'widescreen' proportion is popular.

I'll absolutely give this game credit where it's due. For a "walk around until jumpscare happens" simulator, it's actually a good one! ;p
That might sound a little pejorative and I apologize for that. But I think it's worth saying that because so many indie devs attempt to do these kinds of relatively easy-playing but narratively open-ended short horror games, we should praise the few who really understand what they're doing. There's natural constraints to the medium of small exploratory horror games, but it's rife with potential that's all-to-often wasted. This made my skin crawl.
God, why is it that when I'm tabbed out from the video and then I tab back in, it's at the exact moment of a jumpscare 😭

So for anybody who's wondering why it's "Psalms 5:9-13" and might be confused by that Psalms 5:13 is interestingly not in most English versions of the Bible which only go up to 5:12, sort of. You have to actually go to the Hebrew version which structured to have 13 verses instead because verse 1 was cut from the English version so they're uneven so 12 is 13. I don't care about religion but I like lore except I have NO idea what it means for the game's lore so if someone does want to put together what it might mean here it is in full:
9 O LORD, lead me in Thy righteousness because of them that lie in wait for me; make Thy way straight before my face.
10 For there is no sincerity in their mouth; their inward part is a yawning gulf, their throat is an open sepulchre; they make smooth their tongue.
11 Hold them guilty, O God, let them fall by their own counsels;
cast them down in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against Thee.
12 So shall all those that take refuge in Thee rejoice, they shall ever shout for joy, and Thou shalt shelter them;
let them also that love Thy name exult in Thee.

That was great. The build-up in the scares, the atmosphere. I haven't been that creeped out and intensely jumpscared as when watching this in a long time. Great pacing and like you said, not too many jumpscares to cheapen the experience. Loved it.

First I just want to say, watching you is the reason why I got into Observation Duty and anomaly games in general. I'm not sure if you've played these before, between here or stream (or already plan on playing them), but some anomaly games I've found recently are Midnight Monitor: Anomaly Watch, which is just like Observation Duty. Also, Project 13 and Everloop, which are just like Exit 8.
