- "Sorry" to headphone users: Most of the footage is shot with a GoPro and it seems that this camera picks up a very low tone from the Engine Room. Cannot filter that out. Will look for a solution.

On a very special day (My 56th Birthday!!) I head for one of the Frisian isles called Terschelling.
Oh, and "65 years old" must be "56". Little error in 2nd language...
Terschelling is one of the isles from the Wadden Sea. The Wadden Sea is the largest tidal flats system in the world. It is bounded from the IJsselmeer by the Afsluitdijk. If you want to see more about the IJsselmeer go watch another video of mine, later on.
Historically, the coastal regions were often subjected to large floods, resulting in thousands of deaths. Numerous dikes and several causeways have been built, making this area among the most human-altered habitats on the planet. And this is the place I visit in this video!!!

Helaas betekent dit dat een aantal Nederlanders die het Engels niet machtig zijn, de video's lastiger kunnen volgen. Helaas is dat zo.

When heading for the Baltic, Nordeney and Borkum are the most logic isles to stop because of getting easier into the marina's.

Thank you very much! Yes, all the things you mention for sure will stay. Since there are tons of video's produced by and about boaters I was looking for a format that fit's my personality and the way I act whilst driving the boat. By having the PTZ camera's on board and recording already, I thought that I might use that footage as well and also explain to you as viewer what I do and why. I guess most skippers understand what I am doing, but like it nevertheless. Glad you appreciate it and took the time to give a comment.

Another Great Video. Beautiful marine scenery and I find the locks fascinating (no locks here in coastal Australia although here in Hervey Bay we certainly have a huge amount of mud and sand banks to navigate). One suggestion/request could we just enjoy the background noise of the sea instead of elevator music.
hahaha elevator music? I took me hours to find the right hotel elevator playing the music I wanted. hahaha I heard that complaint before. Will change that, next time.

It is very interesting to see boating in the Netherlands. Definitely a place to keep an eye on the water depth. It's unlikely you'd hit rocks if you did go around, which is nice.
Well we have breakwaters full of rocks too. We Dutchies reclaimed land from the sea, so allmost all our waterways are muddy.
Wonderful content and I aspire one day to being as calm and competent as yourself when singlehanded.

Hello Inge! The Baltics for sure are on my list! I alrady bought the pilots to make plans to go and see Danmark, Norway and Finland, But I have nu idea if I have enough time this summer. Hoi Henk Jan, geniet van je videos. Heel apart. Je hebt het goed op orde. En je hebt lef. Vraagje: gebruik je geen kaarten ? alleen maar de chartplotter??? Alsvast dank. groet Henk
Wat bedoel je met 'heel apart", Henk? Ik heb papieren kaarten aan boord van 2000. Verder de 2 almanaks, en zogenaamde 'pilots' van de gebieden waar ik heen ga. Vooral die "Reeds" was belangrijk voor mijn tochten buitengaats. De 1999 editie van de "Shell Channel Pilot" van mijn tocht naar de Channel Islands, heb ik nog altijd als aandenken aan boord. Veel van de routes in NL bekijk ik op de app en en route werk ik met de plotter, maar die ga ik vervangen, vanwege het gebrek aan belangrijke informatie (zoals je wellicht in de vorige episode hebt gezien)

Found your channel yesterday and enjoy all the info and content while I'm waiting for my first ship to get ready (in Sneek). How's the interval for oil change for your engines and will you post a video then? And how many l/h do you aprox. use when cruising on one or two of your engines? Cheers, Sven
Hi Sven, the Perkins manual says every 500 hours oil change. And almost no one can exactly tell you the fuel burn. In the Netherlandse everybody says "5 liter/h" but I know for sure most will exceed that number. Normally I take 10 liter per engine per hour. Have no idea if that's right. When my tanks are empty I have to fill them anyway. ;-) (Went to the fuelstation yesterday and had 1,000 liter @ € 1,80)
@@MVLadyLiselot 1000 liters must be less than half of your tanks capacity, I guess ;) . My guess for your size of ship would be 2500 to 4000 liters total...

As a liveaboard, you'll find always some work to do on a boat, but not all is necessary, so it's like a house: things pile up if you do not pay attention to it.

Jammer, net gemist! ik woon op Terschelling en ben daar student op de hogere zeevaartschool Maritiem Instituut Willem Barentsz en had graag nog wel even een bakje koffie willen doen! wanneer komt u weer langs op het prachtige eiland? 😜
Terschelling is natuurlijk razend populait bij veel bootjes mensen, en ik ben niet zo van de massa. Met z'n 10én langzij omdat je perse op Terschelling wilt zijn. Dat wordt dus pas weer in het najaar. Maar misschien is mei buiten de vakanties ook nog een optie, want dan is het niet druk. Heerlijk.
@@MVLadyLiselot ja klopt zomers veelste druk najaar is altijd wel prima ben benieuwd! Mei is ook een goede optie ze zijn nu aan het baggeren in de haven zelf om het weer wat dieper te maken. Ik hou vanuit de school wel de haven in de gaten voor uw boot 👍

Mooie video, ook mooie camera shots van de buitenkant, goed helder. Ik heb een vraagje over jouw navigatie middelen, ik zie een Raymarine, maar ben benieuwd welke het is ? Begrijp ook dat je 1 display hebt waar je de motor instrumenten ook naar voren kunt halen ? Wij hebben ook een 49' trawler (ligt in Griekenland), met enigzins verouderde equipment en ben aan het kijken wat ik als opvolger wil gaan kopen. Ik weet dat er meer mensen interesse hebben in de navigatie apparatuur, iedere keer dat het op een ander kanaal wordt aangestipt zijn er altijd veel reacties. Wellicht een idee om in de toekomst eens een video te maken over het plotten van een route. De kaart heeft iedereen moeten leren voor het examen, maar het omzetten naar de nieuwste technologie zie je weinig van. We zullen je blijven volgen ! Veel plezier op het water.

@@MVLadyLiselot ok, ik zoek wel even verder. Zag trouwens het anker, is dat een Sarca Excel nr 10 of 11 ? Zo ja, hoe bevalt dat ? Veel goeds over gelezen in tests, maar weinig ervaringen van gebruikers te vinden.
@@davedavids9619 het is een Mantus 38kg. Lady Liselot weegt 35ton en met 30 knts of wind op het IJsselmeer is ze op dr plekje blijven liggen.

Thanks what is the round glass in the left windshield for ?
It's a so called "Clear View Window". The middle part of that window rotates at high speed, causing the raindrops to fly off because of the centrifugal force.
That way you always have a clean window and a good view in case of (heavy) spray or rain. The other two windows have regular wipers.

Yep, I started this channel mid december 2021, and was a jr creator. So in some video's the music is more on my preferred level, then on the level of the viewer. It becomes better (I think) with the latest uploads.
Sometimes I left the volume on purpose, cause it was not that important.
Great stuff, altho as a slightly hearing impaired person I find the intro music being as loud as the voice makes it harder to hear the words. Several listens helped though.
Sorry about that. I use headphones when editting and I cannot tell when the level is ok for people with hearing problems. Hope you liked this short trip nevertheless

@@marifaceawl7192 ;-) for your reassurance: I did not perceive your comment as a complaint. In the first videos (this video falls under that) I shot in the wheelhouse with a GoPro without a microphone. The viewers using headphones reported that the motor hum was very overpowering. From that moment on I started using headphones so that I could hear that too. I now have another camera in the wheelhouse + a directional microphone so that my voice is more audible and the background hum has largely disappeared. Certain things I don't notice, so it's always good to report that.

Hello Peter, adding a 2nd engine cost 100% fuel burn, but only gives 25% more speed. I use two engines when maneuvring, but if it is not necessary, I switch one of them off. I run them seperately to keep the running hours in balance.
I have "Velvet" drives and the manual states:
On the Velvet transmissions, passive turing of the prop shaft also turns the oil pump and no damage to the transmission can ensue.
Freewheeling: "It has been determent bij tests and practical experience that all Velvet Drive Marine Transmissions can be freewheeled without risking damage in sailing or trolling applications. Caution should be taken to be sure that proper oil level is maintained during freewheeling as well as normal running. Freewheeling one propellor on a two engine boat at trolling speed will not cause damage to the transmission connected to the freewheeling propellor."
Waarom worden fenders altijd binnengehaald? Kun je toch laten hangen?
Ja, je kunt ze laten hangen maar… als een bootontwerper een boot tekent, dan zie je nooit fenders. ;-) dus die worden er aan toegevoegd voor maar een doel: beschermen van de boot tegen klunzigheid van de skipper. En zodra dat gevaar geweken is, kunnen ze worden opgeborgen. Het is ook niet zo mooi om fenders te laten hangen, als het nou oorbellen waren die de vrouw versieren (of is ‘tooien’ een beter woord?), dan was het nog een optie, maar dat is ook niet zo. Daarnaast lijkt het wel dat zo’n knoop stevig is en de fender vast houdt, maar als je ziet hoeveel fenders er per jaar in het riet liggen te dobberen, dan haal je ze liever binnen. € 100.- ben je zo kwijt voor een nieuwe. En dan als laaaaaatste: door de golven en het bewegen van het schip, schuren de fenders steeds tegen de zijkant van het schip waardoor je de lak beschadigd waar je weken daarvoor zo op hebt staan werken.

Not as you say “ low low water” it is lowest astronomical tide. You cannot account for weather ie Barometric Pressure but for chart datum purposes it’s assumed 1013 mb. Stick around I’ll teach you something
In Dutch we express it as low low water. You will find more translation errors that's for sure.
I enjoy your videos but can you please leave the music in the background, I realise you are trying to create atmosphere but really it’s very annoying having to continually turn the volume down and up to listen to what you are saying. I’m an old man and you are mor interesting than your music.
